Hurricane Irma Updates ***Check First Post for closures and more info***

(Kristen Bell has my love because she's one of the smartest/sharpest actresses I've ever seen interviewed. So quick witted it's frightening.)

Hurricane Irma: CONFIRMED ~ All Parks, Water Parks and Disney Springs: Normal Schedule

If you zoom in here right now, it looks like WDW (and maybe UO) are under a magic storm shield. :) https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/orlando-fl/32801/weather-radar/328169 Port Canaveral, maybe not so much.

    Port Canaveral and Orlando impacts

They're both under a pretty brutal band on radar right now: https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/orlando-fl/32801/weather-radar/328169 Anyone know of a way to monitor conditions at the port? Storm is trending considerably more east than expected.

Hurricane Irma: CONFIRMED ~ All Parks, Water Parks and Disney Springs: Normal Schedule

Getting really concerned watching the radar reports, especially for Orlando area and also Port Canaveral, both of which are in a bad band right now (as seen in rteetz images).

Yeah, I'm really curious to see what the next set of models/tracks will look like.

***Riding out the hurricane at a Disney resort? Post your experiences here!***

Is the power holding up down there? (I've asked this in a few threads now, but the massive power outage over SoFla has admittedly caught me off guard and it's something I'd failed to account for when trying to figure out if I'll be able to make a planned trip to Orlando on Thursday. I don't...

Hurricane Irma: CONFIRMED ~ All Parks, Water Parks and Disney Springs: Normal Schedule

I was just coming to this thread to ask about the power situation there. The Miami situation (80% without power) is especially concerning.

Hurricane Irma- Now a tropical depression

Saw this from Marathon :( http://wsvn.com/news/local/man-found-dead-inside-truck-wrapped-around-tree-in-marathon/ I'm also growing concerned about the massive power outages in Miami and the potential for problems that causes. Hopefully the curfew can be enforced/will help. (I know there are...

    Hurricane Irma?

I just peeked at the "people currently on-site" thread, and I'm afraid to ask this there. Are dogs allowed in Disney resorts now or is it just that everyone has "service" animals now? I might have misunderstood some posts.

    Hurricane Irma?

I don't know what "Orlando Jetport" is, weather station or something? But apparently it just had a 89mph gust (per TWC).

    Hurricane Irma?

Hmm. Isn't Irma quite a bit further east than expected right now?

    Hurricane Irma?

While I'm not interested in shaming anyone for any choices they made or may make, I do have to agree that Orlando hasn't seen the worst of the storm yet. That said, I don't expect they'll get much but minor localized issues and maybe some tornados. (I lived in Orlando in 2004, when central FL...

    Hurricane Irma?

People can be sad about their trips even while other bad things are happening in the world. Just like people in Florida are allowed to be worried and sad about the storm even though they are unlikely to get it as badly as Barbuda or St Maarten.

    Hurricane Irma?

Thanks to this storm and the internet, I had to look up the actual name for this particular logical fallacy people keep tossing around: https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Not_as_bad_as

    Hurricane Irma?

My folks used to live in Marathon, they were on the gulf side on a canal. During Wilma I think their house took about 8-10' of storm surge (it was up on stilts so basically "ok") and their cars & RV were totaled. I know this probably is not welcome info, but since you mentioned Marathon I...

    Hurricane Irma?

I don't know why, but Cantore is pressing my "you're a moron trying to get ratings" button pretty hard, but the guy in Naples wasn't. Maybe because you could actually see the guy in Naples, instead of this dim figure showing off by standing 30' away (Cantore).

    Hurricane Irma?

Oh wow, Closed Captioning works on TWC within the DirecTV app. (I grudgingly paid for a month of DirecTV Now with a 50% off code so I could watch some storm coverage, got tired of internet streams.) I am free from the irritating microphone static.

    Hurricane Irma?

I caught that low pressure mention on TWC and wondered the same thing. I guess it could mean the water supply has been breached and is now compromised.
