Disneyland's Splash Mountain finally has a closing date set for the end of May

The ride has been in an embarrassing state for quite some time now in terms of maintenance. So many animatronics not working and poorly lit show scenes. Shame that it can’t go out on top, but I’ll always have fond memories, and I can’t wait for the new attraction. I am curious how construction...

    Avatar experience coming to Disneyland

It could be in the Launch Bay space, but another good contender could be in the soundstage that’s being used as a gift shop between Monsters Inc. and Philharmagic in DCA.

Foodie Guide to Holiday Treats at Disneyland Resort 2022

Why is there so much macaroni and cheese on the menus this year? Was underwhelmed by the ham slider and the bourbon tart. Curry mac was delicious but had a giant pool of grease at the bottom of a tiny tub. Pork adobo was so salty it was almost inedible. I've still got three tabs left on my Sip...

Anyone going to Gay Days at Disneyland next weekend?

Searched the Disneyland, solo, and LGBTQ forums to see if any groups have met up in the past or if anyone had posted already about a 2022 gathering. Seemed like no, so I thought I'd get the ball rolling. :) I'm a Magic Key holder flying solo and would love to meet up on Saturday!

Do you repeatedly request certain cast members on Disney cruising/vacations to service you?

This one's a bit more superficial, but pre-COVID there was a very attractive male server who worked at Sebastian's Bistro at Caribbean Beach. My friend and I may or may not have requested to sit in his section during our second visit of the trip...

Why I made the switch to Universal Orlando

For me, it's Halloween Horror Nights. Over the years, Universal Orlando during September and October has come to feel like "my" event at "my" park. Nothing else at Disney compares. As someone visiting from California, I also love that you can walk easily between parks. I'm used to that with...

VIP Tour: LGBTQ2 (or Friendly) Tour Guide?

We gave an LGBTQ+ History Tour as one of our offerings, and it was important to the company that only queer guides lead that tour. It wasn't a scary, mandatory database or anything. There's way more to cover in NYC than a controlled environment like Disney, where all the guides are super on...

    Trip with No Dining Reservations

The overwhelming majority of restaurants will have some sort of last minute option the day before, morning of, or even a couple of hours before. There’s also always sitting at the bar. I wouldn’t worry.

VIP Tour: LGBTQ2 (or Friendly) Tour Guide?

I worked for a major tour company in NYC for years. People would specifically request LGBTQ+ guides for VIP tours all the time, and we were happy to do so if such a guide was available. I can’t imagine Disney wouldn’t do the same. It’s difficult to explain to a straight person how it feels...

Any word on mask updates at Universal?

It's worth noting that mask rules for mega outdoor events and theme parks like Universal could shift in the next week or two. LA county needs to be under 2,500 hospitalizations for a full week in order for masks to be rescinded and that countdown started on Wednesday. If the mega outdoor rules...

    Yesterday's DIS Unplugged show

I unsubscribed from the show on Apple Podcasts after listening to this most recent episode. For me, the show has really suffered since they did away with a set topic. It's the same old 2-3 punching bags at length every episode. I understand that because of COVID they're having fewer people in...

    Answer to Petes question.

Yes exactly. Very pro-vacation. Just more of a museums/street food/gay nightlife/let's walk around and just see where we end up kind of traveler these days compared to the structure and relatively limited footprint of a cruise.

    Answer to Petes question.

For me it has nothing to do with feeling safe on a cruise. Or the logistics of getting to the port/on the boat. I'm just not gonna leave my apartment, where I now work and live, to go on vacation to be confined to a ship. If I'm gonna go somewhere, I wanna go somewhere.

Hoop De Doo...Any hope for March?

As someone who's worked in professional theatre, I can tell you it's definitely not gonna happen by March. A dinner show with unmasked actors mingling with tightly packed unmasked patrons just isn't viable now or any time in the foreseeable future given the current climate. Not to mention the...

    Mickey’s Toontown to be Reimagined 2023 - Closed beginning March 9, 2022

I visited Toontown for the first time in years a couple of weeks ago. It hadn't changed since I was a kid and I don't mean that as a compliment. So glad they're updating for the future and giving families with little kids a place to stretch out and play. Especially since Fantasyland is so dense...

Tell me why you love gran destino tower

WAY more dining options than Caribbean Beach. Even those it's big it doesn't feel as impossibly spread out to me either. Also, if you're staying in the Tower, it's the last bus stop before you head off to the parks. Which is nice. I'd rather take the extra stops coming back than going there.

    From Boma to Pop

However you get there, the extra effort will be worth it. I make the trek from Pop to Boma on every trip.

    Disney Genie announcement

This is certainly gonna change the way I visit Disney World. I'm not gonna go. We're go with the flow people who just enjoy being in the parks and it seems like things are just getting more and more complicated and more and more expensive for no reason. It's a bummer. I think I'd rather see...

    WDW 50th Anniversary LGBTQ Gathering?

I'll be at Universal Sept. 28-Oct. 3. My focus is really Halloween Horror Nights, but I'm considering popping over to Disney at some point. Will keep an eye on this thread. :)

Hall of Presidents Reopening in August!

Haven't been in several years. I always seem to just miss the start of it when I'm in MK. Can't wait!
