I do have one question, though. He won’t make it to the Frozen ride afterwards as it is just too late.

Not sure the age of your son, but we just took our DD3 (who normally goes to bed at 7pm) to this last week. She was rockin' better than us by that point! :-)

Okay so after all of the positive reviews for this I'm seriously considering trying to cram it into our arrival day on 9/29. It looks like there are Sunday parties in August so I'm hoping in might continue into September.

is possible to get a fastpass to do the ride before the party instead?
Doing the FEA attraction is a fairly quick process. The show ends at 9:15 and you should be exiting the FEA between 9:45 & 10:00.
Unless the ride is down, there are no FPs, so none to hand out before the party. You can try Guest Relations, but it's the first such request I've encountered.

There's no reason to believe that the party will not continue beyond August at this time, however the frequency and days are subject to change.
Yeah, I figured the parties themselves would continue, I’m hoping the Sundays are still a thing because that’s really the only day I can make work.

ETA: I just realized that it's SATURDAY that we can make work, not Sunday, which means we're probably out of luck, as it looks like it isn't being offered on most Saturdays.

We are going on Sunday. Thunderstorms are called for. I am going to assume it will be held inside. Do you still see Illuminations from outside if there is thunderstorms?

I wouldn't assume that at all. If, and that's a big if, the forecast holds up it's only a 40% chance.

If the forecast does prove to be correct and it's felt that there is a risk of rain, it will take place at the Norway Loft inside the Norway pavilion.

They will escort party guests back to the original location to watch the show and then return to Norway for the ride.

Thanks! Fingers crossed for good weather. We are looking forward to it either way.

My daughter (7 years old) and I attended the FEA Dessert Party this past Wednesday night (4/11/18) and had a great time. We showed up a few minutes before 8 and only had to wait behind one large party checking in ahead of us. We were soon taken to our table, where we were seated with a mother, daughter (5 years old), and grandma. The girls made friends quickly, and largely kept each other entertained. The dessert offerings were robust, and there was also a large table with cheese, fruit, crackers, etc. There was also a stand where a CM was making caramel popcorn with liquid nitrogen, which was cool, and my daughter loved the fact that you could breathe out smoke through your mouth and nostrils after eating it. Finally there was a table featuring scooped ice cream, a s'mores pudding creation (delicious, but very sweet), and a salted caramel cottage pudding. In addition to an array of juices, there was also a bar with several choices of beers and wines.

Our table was right up against the railing around the World Showcase Lagoon, so we had a perfect view of Illuminations. CMs also passed out glasses just before the show that made the fireworks look like snowflakes, which was a cool tie-in to the Frozen theme. A few minutes after the show, we were escorted as a group over to Norway, where we went through the FP line (it didn't matter since the park was closed at that point and there was no one left in standby) and onto the ride. We rode FEA one time with no wait, then were able to stick around and take some photos as the whole area was empty.

Overall, I thought the FEA Dessert Party was a very good experience. The desserts were tasty, there was unlimited beer and wine, the view of Illuminations was perfect (and it was great to be able to sit down the whole time), and we got a no-wait ride on FEA. I would recommend it to others if you feel like this would be up your alley. Happy to answer any questions anyone might have.

Just to make sure - there are tables at this event? My mom will have had back surgery about 2 months before our trip and I would like to try this but want to be sure that she can sit down. We are going to take touring the parks slow (we have been many times before) so that she can go at her pace but thought this might be something fun to do different.

Yes, you will be seated at tables and will be able to sit comfortably throughout. You will have an incredible prime view of Illuminations from your table and not have to stand at all during the show. This is a huge benefit. Enjoy.

If you’ve done dessert parties at MK (Wishes) and HS (Star Wars) is it worth it to do this one also?

I haven't done the current SW dessert party, but have done this and the MK parties. IMHO, the "dessert party" portion of this event is vastly superior to MK. More variety, more thoughtfully prepared, better presentation. Obviously there's alcohol as well, if so inclined. It's just a better run event overall. Plus who doesn't love ending the night on a spin through FEA!

I agree with GADisneyDad14. We did the HEA Dessert Party at MK and the FEA Dessert Party at Epcot on back to back nights and they felt like very different experiences (both worthwhile). The big advantage beyond those mentioned is that at Epcot you get both a prime viewing location and a seat/table during the show, whereas at MK you sort of have to pick between the two (Terrace vs. Plaza Garden viewing).
