“Realistic” question.

Buying DVC resale, as long as ROFR passes we are due to close Nov 3. We have a trip booked at Contemporary Dec 15-21. How “realistic” is it that we would be able to close, book at AKL (DVC) and cancel the contemporary booking?

If you close Nov 3rd, it will take at least two to three weeks for your account to be ready for booking so you’ll be less than a month out.

Now, unless you have a delayed closing, you could close earlier and that would give you more time.

I think it’s going to be very difficult but with stalking the website and maybe a waitlist you might be able to get a few nights?

We’re going these dates booking 2 studios. Wow! Availability was tight. At the 7 month mark OKW was gone in about a week. SSR and AKV were open just over 6 months out but didn’t last long.

So another option would be (assuming your cancellation/modification policy is flexible), maybe you could get a day or two on the front or back end and MODIFY your Contemporary reservation. So you might get best of both wolds. But I would think SSR is your most likely. Again, look at how flexible your Contemp reservation is and start sniping a day or so to build something.

You could also look at confirmed reservations through the brokers and trade some of your points toward the cost, then pay the difference. Maybe you could find BLT or AKL or something else that interests you, and rent out some of your points (iirc around $16-18pp depending on broker and details).
