2019 Holiday Time at DLR Superthread: 11/08/19 - 1/06/20!

DH agrees with you on that -- he thought the turkey slider was okay, but a not up to snuff substitute for a pork katsu sandwich. I liked it better than he did, but it sounds like ours was fresher than yours was. And, I also think they are trying to copy a pork katsu sandwich. However, we both liked the beef slider with the horseradish cream.
Maybe I'll try that next time. I'm also not a big fan of turkey so that could be the problem. The description though sounded tasty so that's why I tried it.

Taking my 4yo niece next week and we have a Minnie breakfast booked for Thursday morning...does anyone know if Minnie is wearing a holiday outfit at breakfast or her regular dress?? My niece has a minnie dress and a holiday princess dress we can't decide which she should wear... :lovestruc

Also if anybody knows the answer....we have 8am reservations on an 7am EMH/MM morning, which we don't have access to...what time can we enter for our reservation?

I've not been last year, but in the years before Minne had a Holiday Outfit, yes.

With 8 AM I don't think they'll let you in early. Usually they keep people without EMH on Main Street and you get in like half an hour early I think. It's been so long since I didn't have a PPO Thursday Minnie reservation.

Has anyone seen or heard about holiday decorations at Paradise Pier hotel? We’ve loved the other two hotels at Christmas time but I’ve never been to PP before. Thanks!

Last year Minnie was wearing her holiday dress at Plaza for breakfast. If you have 8 am reservations you will probably enter with everyone else. If your reservation was during EMH i think they escort you to the restaurant for the time of your reservation.

In the past, the tree used to have an ocean/underwater theme and Santa would be in the lobby at certain times of the day. I have not heard or seen anything about it yet this year.

Thank you! I was hoping after their cool Halloween display they would do something bigger for Christmas too. We’ll see.

Thank you both...I guess the holiday princess dress it will be and I forgot they let guests in before offical opening. It's been ages since we've been at opening.

Okay odd question... does anyone know the shelf life of the Disneyland candy canes? We got one last December to take home for an overly ambitious DIY holiday project and now that I finally (don’t judge haha) got around to doing it- it’s just not gonna work.

Can we eat it? 😂😂😂

They also do it on the pathway by the Festival of Holiday food booths in DCA last year. There was an ornament kiosk and table next door, not sure if it's at the same place this year.

Well, the candy canes do keep pretty well, depending on how well they are wrapped and stored. I can't vouch for yours, but when we sent some overseas, the candy canes (well wrapped, packed in bubble wrap, taped up in boxes) survived international shipping in early Dec., being hidden and stored until Christmas, being played with and admired for a while, and when they were finally eaten (sometime in January, maybe later?), we heard that they were delicious. LOL. Sugar products can last a long time if well wrapped and stored in a dry place. You might want to try doing a close inspection for any bug damage, then breaking off a small piece to sample (for science, right?). Let us know how it goes! All of us DIS scientists want to know!

I believe I read a post recently that said they can last up to a year. The worst that will happen is the candy cane will be sort of soft and chewy on the outside.

Going to be living vicariously through this thread for the next few weeks. I realized while there this weekend, I won’t be able to go back until mid or late December 😣 out of town this weekend, then the next 2 weekends out of town for thanksgiving, then holiday parties on many weekends in December. Makes me glad I dont have block outs and can go during those last 2 weeks of December.

Okay, I also read on some of the Disney blogger websites that they have a shelf life of a year and that seems to hold true! It tastes fantastic and fresh! It didn’t lose any of its hardness.

My son was extremely exasperated that not only did I buy an extra to take home for a ‘weird wreath’ that we ended up eating it anyways... nearly a year later. 😂

Let's hear it for Disney science! Putting the magic to the test! Thank you for taking this one for the DIS team! :)

Thank you for your thoughts! We will likely give it a try! I just didn't know if they handed out wrist bands during the EMH/MM time or if it's not until official opening? We got 1 on our last Christmas trip in 2014, it was definitely fun to watch them make them right there at the store window!
We go now on days where this hasn’t come up, but in years past before that was the case they did hand them out at EE/EMH and of course because it was Handed out then it was seconds to get one and walk to the rides. It’s my understanding now they are not supposed to hand them out until park opening and give everyone a fair shot, which may be the case now but several years ago when there was a EMH at DCA on a candy cane day we got our wristband as we were walking to do rides so it is a possibility

I’ve gone in quite early- I believe you can line up as early as 7 am in the dining line for any ressie up to 8 am or so

Thank you..... this is very helpful. Holding the 3 year old is easy.... worried about the 9 year old. We’ve held off on doing WOC because it just seems so overwhelming to get a good spot, but I know that’s just because for us it’s new and I’m just not familiar with the details. I will definitely check out the thread and get familiar with the recommendations!
I go yearly and even when my kids were younger they did pretty well with WOC- they can sit (we bring special snacks to eat while we wait) and only have to stand once the show is starting. I’d highly recommended getting there early and sitting front row on the bridge (there is a small FP section that closer to the show they may open up for non-FP)- usually it fills in a lot later then the main seating area and we really enjoyed that view. We have gotten damp on windy days but generally we stay dry and have a very good view and don’t have to invest over an hour

I want to try the bridge next time I see WOC, you make it sound less chaotic than the rest of the viewing area, I love the thought of that! Is it blue fp? Where do you line up?
