A DREAM come true cruise - Concierge and a Proposal! COMPLETED 2/13

Congratulations! Love the proposal. Your fiancé did an excellent job planning everything just right. perfect.

And great review of Remy. I really enjoyed all the details and photos. We haven't been to Remy in a long time. It's an excellent restaurant. I hope we get back there someday.
Thank you :) He really did such a good job, I was really impressed with all the planning he put into this. And the food was sooo good. It really puts all the other cruise food to shame.

Your fiancé did a great job planning all the details. Pretty ring too. Congratulations!
Thank you :) I might have given him a few details for the ring I'd like. He did a great job picking one out. He really thought of everything for the proposal.

Congrats!

What’s amazing about Remy is all the variety. We sailed in May on the Fantasy and other than the starters (tomatoe soup cube and foie gras) our meal was completely different. We also shared both the French and American sides and loved it.
I have heard that the menu there changes quite a bit. What type of dishes did you have? It is definitely my favorite restaurant at sea.

Everything was amazing! Congrats!!
Thank you! :) It was pretty amazing.

Congratulations. Loving your trip report.
Laughed at pictures of tee shirts on CC. My husband buys a tee shirt everywhere we go and I have to fight him to recycle or throw away! He has a couple tee shirts from the 60's. I'm going to suggest pictures of tee shirts this vacation.
More, I want more of your trip report .....
Thanks! I'm happy to give you more :) And totally go for taking pictures of the shirts. We now have a nice memory of the shirt without spending a crazy amount of money on it. I think it's just men in general that don't want to give up there clothes. I had to get my fiance to donate half his closet filled with clothes he never wears or are so old they are falling apart.

December 14 - Sea Day

The moment my fiance (yay!) woke up I sent him to the gift shops on the boat in search of medicine for me. He did find Mucinex, but it was an expectorant and not a cough suppressant. It did help a lot though, I felt the best I had all cruise after taking some.

upload_2018-2-1_7-57-42.png

Today was our only sea day and originally had lots of plans. We did have a Mixology class at 2pm that I intended on going to, but I was struggling to do anything in the morning since I barely slept.

I really wanted to see Jack Jack's Diaper Dash. If anyone doesn't know what it is, it's basically a baby race that is super adorable. Only babies who can crawl can enter and there is this mat they have to crawl across to the other side to win. Most babies are confused and don't know what to do and sometimes a baby will surprise everyone and crawl fast across. I've decided when I have a baby we are going on a Disney cruise so I can enter it lol.

I think the race was at 11am and I just couldn't get out of bed. So my fiance offered to go and watch and film it on his phone so I could watch it later. So that worked out great and it was just as adorable as the first one I watched on my last cruise.

upload_2018-2-1_8-1-31.png

It was a really nice day outside. We went to Cabanas for lunch, but I didn't like anything they were offering. Instead we ended up getting a couple slices of Pizza next to the pool.

upload_2018-2-1_8-2-47.png

I had to take some ring pictures of course. These were Snapchat filters, I really liked the sparkles to go with my sparkly ring.

upload_2018-2-1_8-5-3.png

We hung out on the concierge sun deck until it was time for our Mixology class. It was also in the Meridian bar.

This was my second Mixology class on a Disney cruise. The first time was on my Christmas Magic cruise and although the classes were similar, there were a lot of differences between the two different ships. On the classic ships (or at least on the Magic, I'm not sure if it's the same for the Wonder) you aren't allowed behind the bar. The bar is set up where you'd have to go back stage to get there and they don't allow it. So they pre-pour all the drinks and we got to do a few things, but it was mostly observing.

On the Dream class ships it's a lot more interactive. The bars are set up where you can easily access the back side, so they have the people in the class make all the drinks.

upload_2018-2-1_8-9-7.png

When we got there they had all the glasses lined up. They took groups of five people at a time to make one drink for everyone. We were in the first group and I don't really remember what the drink was that we made, but I think it was a Mai Tai.

upload_2018-2-1_8-11-30.png

The same guy who hosted our Martini Tasting class was hosting this one, Nik. He had the ingredients laid out before us and gave us instruction on what to pour first and how much. We had to mix it up by locking our glass with a metal shaker and shake it vigorously back and forth to mix everything together. You're supposed to hit it with the palm of your hand to get it to break apart, but it wouldn't for me so Nik had to do it. They had glasses lined up in a row with ice for us to pour the drink into. I'm a little short (only 5' 3'') so I couldn't reach where the glasses were lined up and had to take them one by one to me to fill.

My fiance and I's drinks were the ones that looked the best, the others hadn't put enough alcohol so the coloring was a little off. The one down side to getting to participate is the quality of the drink you get could not be the best. We were told we could pick one drink for ourselves before sitting down.

The next group up made mojitos. I'm not normally a fan of this type of drink, but it was actually light and refreshing. Some of the people who went behind the bar were hilarious to watch and it was a really good class.

upload_2018-2-1_8-18-48.png

The next group made a tequila sunrise. The ones we got were really strong.

upload_2018-2-1_8-19-26.png

The next group made the French martini we had had in our Martini Class. It was funny, Nik started talking about the history of a Martini and asked if anyone knew why the glass was shaped like it was. My fiance answered with what Nik had told us in our other class. Apparently Nik didn't remember us at all and was really surprised and impressed with my fiance's answer. Was pretty funny.

upload_2018-2-1_8-22-22.png

Unfortunately, the martini didn't taste too good. The one we got wasn't really made correctly and the tastes were all off.

For our final drink we had a shot called a Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It was made with fireball whiskey, which has a cinnamon taste and RumChata. I've never had RumChata before, it's a creamy rum liqueur that is delicious.

upload_2018-2-1_8-24-31.png

Instead of bringing everyone the shot to drink at their seat, they had everyone get up and go to the bar. We all took the shot at the same time. Nik made it very clear you do not sip a shot, you swallow everything in one gulp. This was my favorite drink of the whole Mixology class.

Up next we were headed to the Anyone Can Cook class they were hosting.

Now this mixology class sounds good. Other then the Martini, I like all the drinks here.

Congrats on your engagement! Your ring is so pretty. Just be careful with such a delicate setting. I had something similar and ended up bending a pronge. (full confession I dropped my ring in the seat track on my car and *may* have hit it with the seat while I was searching for it). Needless to say, even thought I got it checked once a year it made me nervous so I had the setting changed to something more substantial because I was wearing it everyday and worked with my hands a lot. Your jeweler should be able to check it for you periodically. Ours does it and a quick deep clean for free if they aren't busy.

I am loving your trip report.

The Mixology class is a lot of fun, I definitely recommend it. It's very possible you'll have different drinks though, the person leading the class decides on the drinks so they vary from class to class.

Thank you for the tip on the ring. I am really clumsy and hit my hands on walls all the time so I'm trying to be extra careful now. I still need to have the ring resized too so it's a little too big on me and I'm afraid it's going to just slip off. That's good to know jewelers do that.

December 14
Sea Day Continued

After our Mixology class we headed down towards the atrium where in the D Lounge they were hosting "Anyone Can Cook"

On my first cruise I went to this thinking you'd actually get to cook something. That isn't how this works. They will have a chef demonstrate how to make the dish, while little sample plates are brought out to everyone already pre-made. You also get a glass of wine that is paired with the meal they are cooking.

upload_2018-2-9_10-57-45.png

I didn't really like this meal, although going in I thought I would. And stupidly, I ordered this dish at dinner for some reason thinking I'd like it more then. Spoilers, I did not.

The dish being prepared this day was North Atlantic Lobster Ravioli with Roasted Garlic and Sweet Basil in a Tomato Broth. The broth is served cold, which I think is the main reason I didn't like this. I think if it was served hot I would have liked it a lot more.

upload_2018-2-9_11-3-5.png

Our chef was from Remy. He told us about working in the restaurant and some behind the scenes facts. Also said some funny comments about his Mother In Law only like microwaved food.

They have cameras pointed at the pots so you can see what's going on if you're sitting farther back.

upload_2018-2-9_11-5-10.png

The sample that was brought out to us.

upload_2018-2-9_11-5-41.png

The wine they brought everyone. They were checking IDs for everyone before giving them the glass, something to think about if you don't carry your ID with you around the ship.

The whole thing I think lasted around twenty or thirty minutes.

I was hungry so we went to the concierge lounge to get some snacks. This was my favorite assortment of snacks from the entire cruise. I guess I should only go there late afternoon.

upload_2018-2-9_11-7-59.png

This was my favorite snack from the Concierge lounge. Egg-salad sandwich. It was delicious and I can pretend it was nutritious.

While there, the concierge team came over to congratulate me. Well, Alina and Danny did. PJ did not, which was a little weird since he helped my Fiance on a few things and was standing nearby when the others were all excited. It was fun showing off my new ring. Danny brought up how he was so smart mentioning the weather the other day when I caught them planning. They wanted to hear all the details.

We popped back over to our room and found this waiting for us:

upload_2018-2-9_11-38-5.png

I had gotten something similar when I sailed on Christmas, but I guess Concierge guests get these on every sailing. I think it's really cute. Does anyone know if they have different ones for different ships? I'm curious if we'll get something different when we sail in January on the Fantasy for our honeymoon.

upload_2018-2-9_11-39-47.png

We relaxed in our room until it was time to get ready for dinner. It was a little sad going to our last restaurant, but I was getting excited to get off the ship to get back to my medicine in the car. Up next dinner and Star Wars

Does anyone know if they have different ones for different ships? I'm curious if we'll get something different when we sail in January on the Fantasy for our honeymoon.

We got a different one each time we sailed, but it was in different years. I think they rotate them by time not ship.

Do you think there will be a different one next January? Or no because it's winter time like my December cruise?

End of the Cruise

It was time for our final MDR meal. We were in Enchanted Garden this night. I'm not sure if it was being sick, or if I just didn't like the menu, but this was the worst meal of the trip. I barely ate anything and distressed our waiter who wanted me to be happy with my food.

This meal was also at a different time than normal. They moved up the dining times to accommodate seeing the premier of the new Star Wars movie. I was really excited to see it and wanted to make sure we got there early to get a good seat. That was pretty much everyone else's plan as well and the restaurant was a lot more chaotic and fast passed than it normally would have been.

When we got to the restaurant there was already a huge crowd of people, we couldn't even see the restaurant doors from where we stood. It was a weird way to have a last meal with our waitstaff, everything was rushed and wanting to leave to get to the movie that it wasn't a proper send off meal.

upload_2018-2-13_7-51-16.png

The restaurant was pretty. I liked how the lighting changed throughout the meal to represent it turning to night time.

upload_2018-2-13_7-52-7.png

upload_2018-2-13_7-52-22.png

My horrible attempt at taking menu pictures.

upload_2018-2-13_7-52-54.png

upload_2018-2-13_7-56-38.png

Instead of butter, they had hummus on the table for the bread. This tasted good and was pretty different from the norm.

upload_2018-2-13_7-57-14.png

I ordered the lobster ravioli I had had earlier at the Everyone Can Cook seminar. Why I would order something I had already not liked, I don't know. I didn't like this. I still find it weird it is served cold and I think it would have tasted a lot better hot.

upload_2018-2-13_7-58-22.png

My Fiance got the tuna tar tar. He enjoyed this a lot. I'm not a big fan of fish, and even less of raw fish so I didn't try any of this.

upload_2018-2-13_7-59-5.png

For our next course he got a salad. I'm not overly impressed with the presentation, but he liked how it tasted.

upload_2018-2-13_8-0-0.png

The soup was okay. Felt good on my throat, but the tasted wasn't the best. I think this was the only thing I actually finished.

End of the Cruise Continued

I did not like my main course at all. I thought it tasted bland and bleh.

upload_2018-2-13_8-4-8.png

It was the Sea Scallops. I didn't think they were cooked well, the couscous tasted okay. Didn't like the taste of the sauce. All around bust. Nigel wanted to bring me something else, but I wanted to get to the movie and didn't want to get held up waiting on another meal so I declined.

upload_2018-2-13_8-5-29.png

My Fiance liked his steak. He always loves steak so wasn't really a surprise there.

We decided to pass on dessert, but they surprised us with one since it was the first time seeing them after getting engaged. They all came around and sang a song for us, which was really sweet. I wish this night hadn't been so rushed, it would have been nice to tell them about the engagement and everything, but there really wasn't time to talk to them since they had to move so fast with everyone.

upload_2018-2-13_8-7-0.png

We told them we wouldn't be at breakfast the next morning. First seating's breakfast is always so early we never go. We don't have to get off right away to catch a flight or anything and I'd rather sleep a little longer.

upload_2018-2-13_8-8-6.png

It was time to line up for the movie. One side of the theater already had a decent amount of people, so we went over to the right side where only five people were. The line to get in got really long really fast. They were showing the movie in the main Walt Disney Theatre (I totally only just realized that's how they spell Theater on the ship looking up at my picture) and they showed it in the smaller movie theater at the same time.

upload_2018-2-13_8-10-6.png

They had two different time showings, like with the normal shows. 7pm if you had early seating and 10:15pm if you had second seating. I was really happy we had first seating, because this movie was really long and I could not have gone to bed late this night with being sick.

upload_2018-2-13_8-11-33.png

They opened our doors before the other side so we were one of the first inside the theater. I normally like being near the front for the shows, but for movies I like being in the back. So we picked the last row of the lower section in the middle. Perfect seats and a tiny kid sat in front of me so I didn't have any issues seeing either, yay!

There were a few ship officers in the theater while people filed in. I know the crew on the ship were really excited to see this movie. PJ in concierge had mentioned it to us a few times. They tried to make it seem like it was a total surprise and shock that they were showing us this movie ahead of time, but it was pretty obvious if you've ever sailed Disney before during a movie premier. Before hand I was really concerned they would show the movie at midnight, so it was a nice surprise that we got to watch it at 7.

upload_2018-2-13_8-15-6.png

Our cruise director come out dressed like a jedi.

upload_2018-2-13_8-15-42.png

He also had a light saber. I'm curious what the Fantasy did for this premier since they have Star Wars day, I was wondering if they had some storm troopers show up.

upload_2018-2-13_8-16-35.png

He formally introduced the movie to us, gave a little speech since it was the last night and last show of the cruise. It was a really cool way to see this movie.

When the movie started someone started actually filming the movie, with a bright shinning light too. They were escorted out. I'm surprised someone would actually try to do that.

I know this movie got mixed reviews, but I really liked it. I barely noticed the length (I think it's the longest Star Wars movie) and thought it had a lot of suspense and action. There were some things I would have changed and hopefully they get addressed in the next movie.

After the movie we went back to our room and found this adorable towel design.

upload_2018-2-13_8-19-3.png

I thought this was really sweet.

And that concludes my cruise. Even though I was super sick throughout the cruise I still had a fabulous time. I loved sailing in Concierge, it's totally spoiled me and makes me never want to sail normally again. Sadly, I can't afford to do that every cruise. I do have two cruises booked for 2019. My honeymoon part 1 and 2. I'm going to sail in the one-bedroom suite again in January on the Fantasy. I'm really excited about it, it'll be my first time on that ship, experiencing Star Wars Day and get a full week of being in Concierge. My second trip is currently booked on Celebrity, going to Ireland and Iceland. I'm really excited about that one.

I really loved sailing on the Dream. I thought it was a beautiful ship with so much to do and see. The Beauty and the Beast show was phenomenal and I recommend everyone see it at least once.

Getting Engaged on the ship was the highlight of my trip. It was done in such a beautiful perfect way and I'm so excited to be marrying the love of my life.

Thank you all for reading along :)

Until next time...

Really enjoyed your trip report! Congratulations on your engagement. Your fiancé did a great job with the preparations and delivery popping the question. Too bad you weren't feeling well. Happy travels on your upcoming cruises.

Aww this was such a sweet trip report. I'm glad you made do even being ill. What an exciting year 2019 will be for you. I hope you do another trip report.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll definitely be doing another one for my January honeymoon cruise :)

9 cruises and we've never done the cooking class. Thanks for that review. I may just keep passing on it though. It doesn't really appeal to me for some reason.

love that you got to see The Last Jedi premiere. We're big Star Wars fans and saw it opening weekend. How great to have that opening act with your cruise director. The place must have gone crazy! I love that Disney does this for their guests.

We had a different litho from the dream concierge on our concierge cruise back in 2013 but that really was so many years ago now. I'm not sure what you'll be receiving in Jan. It is on a different ship which leads me to believe it will be a different picture.

I'm sure you're in full planning mode for the wedding and just want to say congratulations to you both and thanks for a great report.
Really enjoyed it and can't wait to read the next one.

Have you decided on your venue for the wedding yet?
Disney wedding are so wonderful and the planners really help to keep it stress free.
My daughter was married 10 years ago yesterday at The Wedding Pavilion and Atlantic Dance Hall then a dessert party in EPCOT.
It was such a beautiful day!

Congratulations!!!

I've done two, one on each cruise. If you like the food being cooked and wine it's a nice half hour experience. I was disappointed it's not really a cooking class and if the food or cooking interest you it's definitely okay to skip.

That's good to hear :) I need to figure out what to do with the ones I have, maybe frame them? What did you do with yours?

I'm sure you're in full planning mode for the wedding and just want to say congratulations to you both and thanks for a great report.
Really enjoyed it and can't wait to read the next one.
Thank you for reading along :) and I've really enjoyed yours as well. There is a lot of wedding planning happening, I didn't realize how much stuff I have to do! lol. I'll definitely be writing one for my January cruise :)

Yes I have :) We are getting married at the Wedding Pavilion with a reception at the Grand Floridian Ballrooms. I'm very excited to be a Disney princess for my wedding. I really do love how its a one stop shop and makes things so much easier with planning. I didn't realize how much goes into planning a wedding.

Well this is fantastic news!! How great that we've got a future Disney bride planning a fairytale wedding! and at the Grand Floridian and Wedding Pavilion. wow. So happy for you.
