"A Loss of Innocence" - spoilers please?

I caught a bit of this movie, with Jennie Garth, on Lifetime this weekend. But the baby needed a bath before it was over so I missed the ending! I stopped watching when Jens was killed, and when I got back, all I saw was Erik lying on the floor. (He looked dead.) Was he dead? Did Chel kill him? Why?
