Any resource to see historical availability for days 7/11 months out

One thing to drusba's excellent post (and thanks again for all the tracking). The system seems to release cancellations straight into the pool without checking against the waitlist - so by checking in on the website or calling people can "luck into" the unlikeliest things.

Is this still the case? Others have mentioned that after cancelling a reservation, they would immediately check to see if the freed rooms/dates were available in the pool and could not find them.

That no longer appears to be true.

So that means the system will automatically check for a match against the wait list? I had heard it used to be batches that were run several times a day which would allow people to luck into a reservation.

It SEEMS to have changed so that a released room gets put into hold until the wait list is checked. If there is no waitlist match, the room is released.

Do people feel like the availability of reservations has continued to get worse over the last few years? If that is a common perception, is it real, or is it just based on the fact that when we 'remember' our previous reservations and vacations, we actually are probably forgetting the amount of 'pre-sorting' we did, in order to find what we wanted on the availability list.

IMO, it is definitely more difficult at 7 months if you want the near park resorts. There are more points in the system chasing space at those resorts and as renting increases, more demand for villas at those resorts.

It is also more difficult at 11 months for the near park resorts if you want the less expensive villas (standard, value) and especially so for studios. Members are increasingly buying specifically to have booking priority for their preferred resort & booking category. Those that do so, book at 11 months and seldom change at 7 months. This has decreased availability at 7 months, too.

Summer is still relatively easy compared to call or race weekends. IMO, drusba's summary above is still right on and skier-pete's year long data collection project bear that out.
