Any suggestions of what to do at Atlantis if you're not into water stuff?

We can't wait to visit Atlantis on the 4 day 7/13 Wonder. We plan to cab it from the ship. We're not into the casino and do not plan to do any water sports. Any other suggestions on what to do?

Any good places to grab lunch?

Unless you book a room with the Atlantis or the Comfort Suites, you won't be able to use any of the pools or the "water stuff" at the resort. You also won't be able to use the beach facilities there unless you book a room or the excursion through Disney. (The DCL excursion is only for the beach, not the pools.) Besides the casinos, there really isn't anything else to do here, except The Dig. I believe the cost to go in is $25 per person, not sure if they have kids prices or not as we got a day room at the Atlantis so we could use all of the facilities. The shopping was okay, but you can hit the same shops basically right in town.
As far as the food, I found it to just be okay and expensive for what we got. Plus, I felt the service was lacking since the tip was already built in. If I stayed here for any length of time, I would try to eat most of my meals away from the resort.

We just returned from the 5/22 Wonder 3 night. (My trip report will be finished soon.)

We did the same thing...took a cab from port to Atlantis. Since we had no excursion tix, our Atlantis exploration was limited to the casino, the shops, and a lobby view of the aquarium. We did find a deli for lunch and an ice cream shop near the marina.

All access to the grounds, beaches and pool areas were guarded by staff who required us to show a guest key card before leaving the public areas. Of course we couldn't comply, so our Atlantis adventure lasted barely 90 minutes and was limited to the indoors. I was kinda bummed that we couldn't even walk around the grounds.

If any members of your party want to see the pools and beaches, water sports, etc, I'd highly recommend they book the excursion or rent a day room. They won't even be able to get close to water activities without them. Keep in mind, however, that Disney excursions only provide access to the grounds and beach areas. They DON'T provide the wrist bands necessary for swimming in the pools.

I understand day rooms at Atlantis are rare, but the Comfort Suites across the street might be a little easier to book. Comfort Suites guests get all the same access privleges as Atlantis guests. Last time I looked, a room at CS was $175...about the same price as a DCL excursion for 4.

Hope that helps.

Yes, there IS the Dig, a sprawling aquarium exhibit that covers a lot of the outer grounds. It is worth the time to go see it.

You will not have access to any areas outside the main buildings, where the Casino, shops and restaurants are. No just looking at the resort without a pass.

To get access to all the grounds and the Dig, you need to go to the kiosk in the casino with the blue globe over it, and buy wristbands. Adults $25, 4-12 $19, Under 4 free.

Kelly,

Our 18 year old DD wants to go to the casino at Atlantis on our July cruise. Did you take a taxi or water taxi to get there? Also is the casino located on the top floor? If so, my DH won't go with us as he hates elevators. Was it very smoky? I hate smoke. How long did it take for you to get to Atlantis? We also want to explore some of the historic sites in Nassau and don't want to be away from the ship all day.

Thanks!

Donna

We are in the same boat as you ! ;) Would love to see Atlantis , but not into the beach or casinos . We are still debating whether we will do the Dig . Aand there are so many restuarants at Atlantis , not sure if we would stay or go back to the boat for lunch . Does anyone know what time the Dig opens ? Maybe would do Atlantis first thng in the morning and than go back to the boat . Maybe check out the shops near the port and than back onboard to prepare for dinner . Still not sure . Let us know what you decide .

We did "The Dig" in about one hour. Did not think it was worth the $$$. Restaurants at Atlantis are very expensive. As some have posted, you can view the big tank for free from the main lobby.

Casino is on the first floor. I think it was about 5 steps down from where the taxi stand is. No elevator is needed. The Casino was not smoke filled. It wasn't filled with gamblers either (at 11am on a Monday morining!).

Round trip from the Ship to Atlantis and back (used the taxi), including The Dig, took about 2 hours. It is only a 10 minute taxi ride each way.

We were planning on taking the tour of Nassau and then seeing Atlantis after that. Is it worth it to go back to the ship for lunch?
