We'll be doing the land/sea pkg. We're looking into booking a room at Atlantis just to have full usage of pools, slides and rides. But thought maybe someone would have posted something about this place. It looks amazing!! Heard great things about it.

Anyone have any comments?

thanks! :Pinkbounc

Yes, I went to Atlantis in Feb. 2000 for vacation. This is a beautiful resort. My kids really enjoyed the water slides. My daughter is short so she was able to do every slide but the biggest one. At the time we went she was 9 years old.

I am also considering going to Atlantis when we cruise. I think we will get a room at the Comfort Suites there, which is a bit less expensive.

There have been several threads on this before, maybe you can get the search function to work for you :D

Hey, noseybuddy, Thanks for postiing! I am also interested in the beaches at Atlantis. Are they beautiful? Many locals? I hear the water can be rough at the main beach? Did you ever check out the Cove Beach? We will be with DS(5). I know he will LOVE the dig, as he is crazy about aquariums, divers, etc... And I was thinking of checking out the Ripples pool area near the Mayan Slides, then Cove Beach. I am a beach person, as I don't live anywhere near one. So I consider this a chance to have two beach days on one short cruise! :smooth:

Any thoughts on a day at Atlantis would be greatly appreciated!

I booked a room at comfort suites for our first upcoming cruise in July - it will be about $210 with tax and everything - that is about the same cost as just the beach day at Atlantis thru the Cruise excursions - so this way you get use of the pools as well. It does look like a ton of fun...we can hardly wait!

Since we were there in Feb. we did not go on the beach much. The water was a bit cold. We preferred the heated pools instead. One thing we did at the beach was jet skiing. That was fun. The only locals that I can really remember are the ladies who braid hair. They do this along the beach. They are not allowed on the Atlantis property. Thank God! They nag to braid your hair constantly. Only saw one topless woman sunning on the beach. Didn't expect to see that at this resort. I consider Atlantis a family resort. Walking along the Marina is very impressive. Many beautiful boats and yachts! Staff at the pool areas were very nice. Always fixing your towel on your chair. It is a nice resort!

We don't have any intentions of using the beach or pools at Atlantis. We'd love to see the grounds and are not into the casino. Any suggestions on what to do?

Will the Comfort Suites give you FULL usage of everything at the Atlantis? Why would Atlantis allow this? Do they own it?

Thanks! :Pinkbounc

Yes, the comfort suites gives full access, room charging priviledges, etc... I am not sure who owns the CS. But, I have also heard of other Comfort Suites with similar arrangements with major resorts right next door.

Look up the comfort suites online, they have a great web site. The best way to book is probably the internet rate offered by Comfort for all intenet bookings.

Hope this helps! :D

We just returned from the 5/18 Wonder and booked a room at Atlantis.
It was fantastic and well worth the money.
We booked a room through Expedia. It was $195 for the Beach Towers. Total with tax, etc. was close to $295....they charge $45 per child over 11.

When we checked in, we were upgraded to a room in the Coral Towers, which was nice because we were much closer to the Aquarium, slides, etc. It is a huge property, and there is no way that you can take it all in during just one day. The slides were amazing and the beach is just beautiful.

We are considering just staying there for a few days vacation to take full advantage of all of the amenities.

I highly recommend it!

We went on the Atlantis tour through Disney last July. We had a tour guide that took us through the fake Atlantis sites and walked through the aquarium. The guide was unnecessary I would try to find out about how to go about just going through it on your own. The best part was where you walk through a tunnel and sharks swim over your head. It was very hot and muggy and we saw others swimming, but were not allowed to use any of the amenities. It was great to see the place, but the tour is nothing to get excited about. We bought some t-shirts in the indoor shops and had some icecream - we were hot and sweaty and went back to the boat. Also - there was quite a bit of walking just to warn you!

We went to Atlantis last year in August. We also booked a room at the Comfort Suites and were really excited. We actually had to book 2 rooms because there were 5 of us. I'm glad we did it, a once in a lifetime visit, but if you have access to something like a Raging Waters like we have in Southern CA the slides are no big deal.

Don;t get me wrong, the mayan temple was nice and sliding in the tubes around the sharks was great but I'm not sure it was worth the cost. Especially when we ran into a young couple from the ship which got in, used the pools and beach for FREE!!
I don't think they used the slides though.

The pools are nice, and the little one's will enjoy the kids pool but they'll also like the mini slides along the sides of the main pool.

We preferred the beach at Castway Cay as there were lots of jellyfish at the Atlantis beach.

This is just a thought, as we did not do Atlantis when we took our 4 day in January, but a friend had gotten to go there with her husbands company, and stayed there for free. She said it was neat, but not worth the price they pay for the excursion. Again, not my opinion, just passing it along. I personally think for the kids it would be great. Unfortunately we went in January and the water was a little chilly for me to get it, and 2 yr old can go by herself. So there it is for what it's worth.

Pleas pardon my long-winded answer to your simple question...
We just returned from a four-day, 5/25 Wonder trip and really enjoyed Atlantis via Comfort Suites. We got a terrific rate of $157 using of all things - here's the crazy part - the discount code on the back of a Little Debbie's snack cake box! Might be worth the $1 to buy a box for the code. Anyway, a one-way cab for three to CS was $11. Checked in and walked the short distance to Atlantis. We loved the beach. The tide was not that bad and we cannot report any jellyfish. Of course, we're from Oklahoma so we probably wouldn't know one if we saw it. After beach fun, we stopped by the Atlantis towel shed to get our wristbands to ride the slides. What a thrill my DD 11 had floating her intertube through the shark tank. After all (as I learned that day), Mary Kate and Ashley did it. Oh, and I did the one-person slide through the tank. Very cool even for an old guy like me. That was about it. DW snuck off to the casino to play slots for awhile, but said it wasn't the best casino she'd ever seen. We were having so much fun that we never got around to the dig. But we did walk around the resort a bit and saw a lot of the fish -- Atlantis is a huge place. Then went back to the ship.
A few tips while Atlantis is fresh on my mind: 1) Don't buy the necklaces, bracelets, hair braids, sarongs, or any other trinkets from the CONTINUAL parade of hawkers on the beach. It's all overpriced. Instead, shop the straw market next to the port near the ship. Everything is about 1/3 what you pay on the beach. 2) Also, we used the suggestion from the disboards to order room service sandwiches the night before and took them with us. Worked out great. Turkey, tuna or melted ham & cheese are your choices. Put them, along with a couple of big island cookies, in one of those big zip loc bags that I know you'll be taking. Throw it all in your rolling cooler (another good suggestion we used) with some beers, waters and juices for the kids and you're set for the day. Don't forget to stop by the beverage station on deck nine for ice before leaving the ship. Hope that helps! Have fun, and, please, have beer for me at Senor Frogs.
