We are booked for the new updated rooms at the Excalibur in April and would like to know what others have thought. Haven't stayed there for several years and know that it really needed an updating. Lately we have stayed downtown, but wanted to be on the strip for this trip with friends.

"bump";)

we booked end of June, WS Tower/Strip view too

to the OP, please post when you come back from your trip as to your thoughts:thumbsup2

We're staying there in one of the Widescreen rooms in the middle of Feb. I'll make sure to let you know how we liked it!

I am staying there on Feb 28th. I can let you know when I get back. We are staying in the widescreen rooms! I can't wait I am soo excited!

We stayed last August in an updated room. I didnt think it was anything to write home about. The bed was advertied to be pillow top. I have never felt such a hard pillow top bed (sounds like an Oxymoron to me) The TV was a wide screen but then again nothing real fancy. I do not think Ill ever stay at this hotel again. I much prefered Mandalay Bay when I stayed there several years ago. Our View was some roof tops.

I actually felt the room we got about 10 years ago at the Imperial Palace was nicer than the Exalibur and it was only $39 a night there.

;) i'd book mandalay bay in a heartbeat if the cheapest, non-view room wasn't more than double the rate for best room @ excalibur...i am keeping my eyes open though!:wizard:

for anyone going in the next couple of months, they do have some good specials on their website.

Okay board members, I'm ready for the trip report that a couple of you promised. Hope to hear from you soon. If anyone else has experience with the updated Excalibur rooms, please post! Thanks!

Sorry, I complete forgot to give my review....The updated rooms were nice. The beds were ok, the room was clean, the flat screen was a nice feature. Would I stay there again? Not unless I got a killer deal. We had an issue with the air conditioner not working and I called maintenance to have it fixed and they left the cover off of it (they did fix the a/c) which I guess really isn't that big of a deal but I paid extra for the 'nice' room and I had this big eyesore to look at. I guess in retrospect it really isn't that big of a deal but we just left the hotel with a sour taste in our mouth, not only because of the a/c but the hotel staff we dealt with (check-in, maintenance) weren't very friendly. I didn't like how smoky the Excalibur was in the casino compared to the NYNY or MGM but the location was great and we didn't pay all that much. The restaurant Dick's Last Resort is WAY too loud in the evenings. The noise (from the music not the barely there crowd) spilled over to the casino and made it pretty annoying to gamble there in the evenings. On a more positive note it was a decent place to gamble as the table limits were pretty low when we were there. There were several $5 Blackjack tables as well as Craps. And they offered poker lessons every afternoon at 2 which were really fun. Our teacher/dealer was named Del and he was great. Really nice, really knowledgeable and made our first Las Vegas poker experience really memorable. We ate at the Sherwood Forest Cafe late at night when we arrived and had great service and pretty good food.

With everything considered it was a good trip. If I had it to do over again I would have stayed elsewhere but it was nice to try a new place. I hope my review didn't sour your excitement for your trip. Despite not loving our hotel we did have a great time. We also ate at Nine Fine Irishman at NYNY and Mon Ami Gabi at Paris and loved both our meals there. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for your reply. No. . . you didn't put a damper on our trip. We are still excited to go. We really just need an adequate room. We only sleep there so am not too worried. We are taking another couple with us, and we picked the hotel (due to price) so would like it to be at least, okay. Glad you had a great time during your time there. We plan on doing as much as we can during our stay. Probably will see a show and plan on eating on the go. Once again, thanks for your reply. I was wondering if noone had stayed there. That would make me a littly leary. ;)

I got married at the Excalibur in September, and we stayed in a Suite. It was very nice, the bed was very comfortable, and we had pretty good service as far as housekeeping and room service goes.

The non updated rooms our guests stayed in were not anything special, but they were definitely adequate.

I don't gamble, so I couldn't tell you much about that, but we had good service and decent to really good food at the restaurants.

My Dad and I have stayed at Excalibur a number of times over the years, but had begun to get pretty tired of the place, because it's starting to get run-down, compared to its early years. We tried out one of the redone rooms this past October, at my insistence, because the photos on their website looked great.

What a horribly ugly room it turned out to be! Big, dark, heavy furniture and decor, meant to look "retro Vegas", all looked cheap and poorly thought out. Heavy curtains, lots of darkness to the room. Flat screen TV was no big deal, as you can get that in many hotels across the country now. It just looked cheap and ugly. I'd rather have stayed in one of their normal rooms.

That was the last straw with Excalibur for me. I've sworn I'll never stay there again.
