APH rates at on site hotels

Trying to book for January 2019. I tried the HRH and when I put in APH it says sorry that's not available. Lowest price I'm seeing is like $500+ a night. Is that normal? Will it go down? Do the APH rates come out at a certain time?

Do you all book through the direct hotel site or is there a better way?

Check the AP sticky for tons of great information on booking the AP rate. The first post gives a link to use to check for available rates.

Rates are generally high for early January. Last year they were very high and there were lots of exasperated people. Luckily they dropped at the last minute and people were able to get some good rates.

Not to speak for Captainkidd76, but just as a guess - maybe they're staying a week or longer? The longer you stay, the more the rate drops, I think - to the point where it goes cheaper than even AP discounts. We only do short trips, so AP rate is super important for us.
