Aug UY and Borrowing/Banking or Who Cares and Take the Trip?

I don't know why I can't ever keep this straight.

August UY • 0 points for August 17 • 139 points left for August 18 • 210 points left for August 19

When do I have to use the August 2018 points by?

We typically travel in January. We went in January 17 and decided to do a F&W Oct 17 trip so borrowed some 2018 points. We kind of want to do a small trip in Jan 18 since we have annual passes that will expire end of Feb. 18. We also plan to go in Jan. 19.

Just wondering if we are better off skipping the Jan 18 trip and should bank the 139 points. We typically use about 210 or so points per trip.

2018 points expire 7/31/2019 unless you Bank them. You have until March 31, 2019 to bank your 2018 points.

Banked 2018 points would expire 7/31/2020.

Just to clarify, you would need to complete the stay by July 31, 2019 for the 2018 pts, and not just book a stay.

You can borrow Aug 2019 pts into your 2018 UY for stays during that period.

So if you wanted to book a stay starting on Aug 1 2018, you could have borrowed 2019 pts for that stay starting on Sept 1 2017 (assuming that it was for your home resort.)

Thank you! So here is what I'm thinking:

Borrow 139 from Aug 2018 points for Jan 2018 trip. Then use Aug. 2019 points for Jan 2019 trip. I think it kind of puts us behind on points, but while my daughter is still somewhat young, we want to take as many trips as we can.

Just throw away your calendar with DVC. You have a new annual calendar that starts on Aug 1 and ends on July 31. Your points are good from Aug 1 through July 31. You can borrow one year ahead and bank one year later as long as you follow banking rules. Banking and borrowing is a final action, you cannot undo that action.
