I don't have a clue which board to post this on, so I am sorry if this isn't correct.

I wanted to know if anyone has ever taken a shirt to be autographed instead of the autograph books. My dd would like to do this. My questions are:

Should the child wear the shirt or just carry it?

I assume a fabric pen would work best?

How has this held up over time for anyone that has done this?

Thanks for any advice or "tips" you can offer!

We did this in 2000. We all had matching shirts.(17 of us) It was lots of fun! Even though some of the shirts are outgrown we still have them. Someone gave us the idea to turn them into a pillow. We havent' tried that yet. To answer some of your questions, we used a Sharpie pen. It lightned some in the wash but not much. You also need to carry the shirt. My nephew had his on and we ran into the Toy Story crew and Jessie made him take it off. Great video though...Bullseye is standing in front of him as if to help hide him while he took it off to get it signed!

Haven't tried the shirt thing, but we have signed on a white visor, and also on a tote bag! We get a bunch of fine tip Sharpies - they sell a multipack of colors! Some of the characters need to put the item to sign in strange places in order to see - Pluto had to put it on his nose! It would be tough to do that still in the shirt.

Using several colors looks better than just one!

I haven't done this yet but I have read that you can't be wearing the shirt. Also, another hint was to use an embroidery hoop to keep the shirt tight while they sign.

Thanks for all the ideas. We experimented on one of my dh's old t-shirts last night. We used both a sharpie and a fabric marker. Both were very difficult to write on when the shirt was just in our hands. If we struggled, the characters, with their big hands, would find it almost impossible. My dh put the shirt on and that made writing on it a breeze. However, you have all said that the shirt can't be worn. I like the idea of an embroidery hoop but that is just another thing to carry through the park. Oh well, I think we are going to stick to autograph books. Thanks!

If you really did want a shirt....why not use the autographs from the books and make one when you get home. You can buy all sorts of programs that will take scanned items and turn them into iron-ons for tshirts.....

Just an idea!

If you are staying onsite you might want to ask the front desk if you leave the shirt there is they would have characters sign it. When I went on the disney cruise I gave the front desk my shirt and towards the end of the cruise I got it back with all the characters signatures (only the ones who were on board of course). The other thing I found out was when you get home put it in the dryer. I did this about three times and now I can wear and wash the shirt and not worry about the ink fading. I believe a Sharpie marker was used.

Has anyone done the 'leave the shirt at front desk' thing at WDW? We also did this on the cruise and it is one of DD8's favorite souvies. I would like to do this for DD and her friend on our upcoming trip to WDW but didn't know if they would do it.

We have had the books done the past 3 times. We plan on carrying the books in the park this trip as well.DD and I came up with the idea of having the shirt autographed while at CRT.This way we can use the embroidery hoop(great idea)and we won't run into characters with BIG hands. We have assorted color Sharpies. When we get home we'll find patches or heat and bond material with the Princess on it next to their autograph.

We do the t-shirt thing each time that we go now. All 4 of our children..love the autographs and this way they enjoy it for a long time. We buy a t-shirt of their choice, take a package of multi-colored sharpies (regular tip..NOT fine point)( YOU CANNOT BUY SHARPIES ON SITE!!)...and....we let them go....on one of our trips..our youngest got 33 autographs and believe me we DONT go hunting them down. We dont wear them....they roll them up and stick them in a ziploc bag in our back pack. The kids work together to help the characters keep the fabric tight while signing...and we also fold the shirt up to a pre-selected signing point....we have only ever had one issue...Eeyore had a difficult time..but we got it done!

Have a great day!

Sanford make a marker called Rub- a- Dub laundry marking pen

it's made to go on fabric and be washed without washing away

i got mine at walgreens but i think they carry them at walmart too
