BLT Rooftop Access

I’ve read the BLT rooftop is great for watching the fireworks, and that is only accessible to DVC members and their guests. If I am a member (I’m not yet), and I am using my points to book 3 studios - 1 for my husband and me (we would be the DVC owners at this point) and 2 to be used by our adult children & families - would they be allowed on the rooftop as they are part of a DVC stay? Or is it only the actual members (my husband and me) who are allowed? What needs to be shown to gain access to the rooftop?

You would have to be a direct member. You would have to be able to show your member card with DVC-Y. At least one Member in the traveling party must accompany the group and present their current MagicBand, digital Membership card and government-issued photo ID in order to gain admission to the lounge and observation deck.

New resale members do not get access.

As reported in other threads and what we experienced last night, it seems that the fireworks viewing area is now open to anyone (bluecard, white card, no card). To get in the lounge you need to be DVC. Supposedly direct but not sure from our experience since they asked to see the DVC in the wallet and we showed it but we're direct.

Can you tell me what blue card and white card are? Is one direct sale and one resale?

The cards refer to those who are eligible for membership extras and those who are not…they used to be blue vs white cards. It’s not longer that way…but it’s still used.

Those who have an eligible membership…150 points purchased direct or a grandfathered membership….will have DVC Y on their magic mobile pass. Those who are not eligible will have DVC ND

Membership extras are access to discounts, lounges, and special events. TOTWL is for those who have DvC Y. If you buy only resale, you would not be eligible to go into the lounge,

Now, it does appear they have relaxed the rules for the fireworks viewing snd that anyone can go up to the observation deck to watch them. They don’t seem to be checking in the lobby any longer.

However, to get into the lounge to get a drink, snack or to attend one of the paid events, you must have DVC Y. They check that at the door and if you have DVC ND, you will not be allowed into the lounge.

We were there just over a week ago, open viewing area available to anyone as they no longer escort you up the elevator. There was also a mobile bar outside on the deck for drinks, we just wanted a couple of glasses of water and the cast member was very nice and got us a few cups. We are members and brought 3 adult kids and 4 grandkids with no problems. We didn't try to go into the lounge, just wanted to watch the fireworks

Sorry, I wasn't implying that you should have seen this elsewhere. I just meant that others have had the same experience so mine wasn't a one-off. I was recently looking for the same info and had trouble searching for it. I knew it was out there because I remembered reading it but thought it was much more recent than it was actually was.

Even if you found an old answer, it's still good to get recent info since sometimes things change.
