Canadian Buffoon's Exhausted Vacation - Update 09/01 - New TR link!

phew, that was a lot of reading. I got swamped with school and the brother-in-law coming home from the military for the holidays and now school again and haven't had much personal leisure time. I am all caught up now though.
I had noted that you hadn't
been around for a while.
And I never worry.
"Haven't seen Kiotzu for

a bit... School."
I love the change of pace for you this trip.
That AP is to blame.
I just didn't feel I had
to rush quite so much
having been there earlier
the same year.

I kinda liked it!
I am beyond jealous of the Waygu beef. It is a bucket list item for me.
It should be on your list.
It deserves to be.
Sooooo good.

Yes we've done both Takumi Tei and Morimoto. We did the omakase at Both. Takumi Tei is definitely more beef-focuse. The tasting menu is very rich. I don't normally eat so much meat in one sitting so I decided that if we do it again, we would order alacarte and share. I did love the sushi!

I think Takumi Tei would be more my speed. I think it would be better if only I ordered it and Fran did a la carte.

We did Takumi Tei last November so I don't have a tip report yet for that one, here are some pictures:

OK so here is my point @Steppesister. You said that you had wanted to do this meal since you saw Su-Lynn's experience. But didn't you and Pkondz do this in September or is this a different trip?

My point is that if you wanted to do this since you saw Su-Lynn's experience, did you time travel to the future, read her TR that she will write on her November trip to Takumi Tei, and come back to last Summer/Fall and get excited about the experience? Or was it actually the Morimoto experience that got you excited for Takumi Tei?

@chunkymonkey I can't see your pictures from the Morimoto Omakase, or the ones you posted here.

Being a pkondz and am inviting myself too! Always wanted to go but never could get a reservation on the days that we're actually in Napa!

Well they key is going to be planning the trip far enough out that we plan to around the night we want to dine at the French Laundry. They book about 3 months out!

I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!

So did you also time travel to read the report that she will write in the future?

Ah! Good point.
Loooots of beef.

I'm strangely OK with that!

Unfortunately, while I was
doing that, Doc was sending this:

Doc: Will be off pirates in 5

Doc: Oitside (sic)
Doc: Where are you?

Doc: Hello hello hello

Whoops!

You guys probably high five like this...
giphy.gif

tenor.gif

to full on elaborate,
like these guys:

I'm betting they're CMs.

What do you think?

And... really... it doesn't get
much stranger than me, right?
Tell me if I'm right.

giphy.gif

When you're with Liesa,
you quickly learn why she
knows all the best spots
to pee in the Disney parks.

bladder of a 3 year old?

We finally all met up near HM.
Doc and his brother were
dressed as Jedi and Coni
was Cruella.

Ooh, I can't wait to see these awesome pictures....I just know pkondz won't screw this up.

DamagedOrderlyIguana-size_restricted.gif

And.... I was too pleased to
see them all and too busy
yacking and...
More of Doc's family was
coming in soon....

even more costumes!!! yes!

giphy.gif

, so they had
to head to the front of the
park, but no big deal, because
we'll meet up later for sure,
so no, I didn't get a photo,
and I never saw them again.

So... poop.

tenor.gif

We got in and I asked
Liesa if she'd mind if I
sat on the side closest
to the ballroom.

maybe it's a stupid question -- but I though both seats are equidistant. Is there a slight twist of the buggy during the scene? I guess I'll be on the lookout in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!!!!

There were way more guests than
I'd ever seen before at MNSSHP.
This was at least my third? Fourth?
MNSSHP and I'd never seen it like this.

My parents just did the xmas party and they were not impressed. They thought the crowds were way too much.

(love the gravedigger on the left!)

our left or your left?

Can anyone (not you Doc,
and not you either, Liesa...
You both know) tell me what
my costume is?

yes -- I can tell you.

But will I?

I thought I was so clever.
I'd get lots of comments
and reactions and...

Nobody got it.
No one.

giphy.gif

Walking towards POTC,
I bumped into Liesa again
and she decided to join me.

You really should start watching where you're going. Bumping into people is not a good look.

Enjoyed the parade as always
but didn't take photos.
I was tired and just wanted
to watch and enjoy.
I've taken photos before
so feel free to visit a previous
TR if you really feel the need.

you could at least provide a...

I'd go again... despite the crowds.
I don't need to go on rides while
I'm there. It's not the priority.

That was my thoughts on the Christmas Party. I wanted to catch the entertainment and photo ops.'

That it's good planning?

;)

I think you found out otherwise.

Well... I got to spend a bit
of time with Liesa and did
see Doc for a couple minutes...

So not too bad.

There you go, cup half full.

It's not mine.
But it's wayyyyy up there!
Top 3 MK rides for sure.

It's not my favorite but it is my favorite in Fantasyland.

Yeah... I'm hoping they scale
that back a bit... Like get rid of it.

I was very happy they didn't do it for the Christmas party.

:scared1:Gah! Don't do that!

It's questionable whether I'll
do it again after this time...
but, most likely, if the opportunity
presents itself, I think I would.
Even with the crowds...
it's just too darned fun.

I've never been, and always heard good things. But I have also heard the stories about the parties being over-sold now. Sad.

I mean... I knew I'd catch a bus
within seconds, but I wasn't
quite sure how long until
I got to the park.

Well, of course. We knew that too.

(If you look in the crowd, right in the middle, you can see a pretty impressive Winifred Sanderson costume.)

No idea who that is.

pkondz: At Auntie Gravity
Doc: Not sure where that is

What?? Turn in the DIS Dad card.

pkondz: Passing aloha isle

And kept right on going.
Nope, not stopping for
a Dole Whip quite yet.
I had other plans...

There were lots of people
around by now, in all kinds
of costumes, ranging from
a simple "This is my costume"
T-shirt to full on elaborate,
like these guys:

Gotta admit...I'd be the t-shirt guy.

Cute costume. Old school Bo Peep.
Nice job, too... wait...
I know her! It's Liesa!
I bustled over and said hi.
She hit me with her crook.

Good job, Liesa! I owe you ten bucks.

And... really... it doesn't get
much stranger than me, right?
Tell me if I'm right.

I mean...yeah.

When you're with Liesa,
you quickly learn why she
knows all the best spots
to pee in the Disney parks.

:rolleyes1

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Man, first the guy with the knife, now a lady with a crook. Maybe this isn't the ride for you.

I mentioned that I was
hungry too (starve a cold,
feed a concussion) and would
she like to split an order
instead of my skull?

Feed a concussion, huh? I'll have to try that next time.

I mean, if it happens.

There were way more guests than
I'd ever seen before at MNSSHP.
This was at least my third? Fourth?
MNSSHP and I'd never seen it like this.

Sigh...there was never a thing Disney bean-counters couldn't ruin.

I also spent some time
trying to find some rum.
You see, I'd come to the party
heavily fortified, but as the
night went on, my spirits
mysteriously (hic!) dish...
disssp… dashap… vanished.

But why is all the rum gone?

I'm sure someone already beat me to that line, but whatever.

I at first thought they were
going to steer me towards
some wine, but alas, they
were only talking about the
swine.

Mmmm...bacon...

(love the gravedigger on the left!)

He does have quite the set of facial expressions.

Just as well as it appeared that
they were prepared to dig a new
hole of which I would be the guest
of honour… Time to leave.

Always room for one more!

A kind gentleman on said horse
provided me with libations.
Quite kind of him.
But if I continue drinking rum
all night, I'm sure to lose me head!

Well, it doesn't seem to have hurt him any.

Can anyone (not you Doc,
and not you either, Liesa...
You both know) tell me what
my costume is?

I thought I was so clever.
I'd get lots of comments
and reactions and...

Nobody got it.
No one.

Well, dang. I'll admit, I don't know if I have it yet, but if I did figure it out, it took me quite a while. But then again, I'm not very bright.

There's always one in the
"jail" in the queue.
I told him I'd slipped him a key
in a bottle of rum.
He thanked me... And then I
said "Of course there are
hundreds of bottles..."

He replied, "I'm up for the challenge!"

:rotfl2::rotfl2: Perfect.

The wench was after me rum!!

Man, she is really serious about that whole "I need more alcohol at Disney" rant.

I remember the first time
I'd been to MNSSHP.
We watched the 2nd parade
and were almost the only
people on Main St.
This time, there was no room
to sit anywhere and I wound up
standing behind a few people
who were sitting down.

Ugh. Sorry it wasn't the same this time around.

@chunkymonkey I can't see your pictures from the Morimoto Omakase, or the ones you posted here.
Argh. I edited the permissions on the google album. Maybe you can see them now? If not I can try again.
Well they key is going to be planning the trip far enough out that we plan to around the night we want to dine at the French Laundry. They book about 3 months out!
I know!! I always forget to make reservations.

The level of detail and creativity is incredible!
Liesa and I headed over to HM.
Always love the characters
interacting with guests there.
Awesome!
Actions speak louder
than words.
She let me know quite
clearly what she thought
of that idea.
:rotfl:
I met three jovial gentlemen
who were also on the look-out
for some spirits.
They thought we could
hitch a ride to the rum.
I joined them in their quest.
Be careful that they didn't try to make you their 1000th happy haunt!
I set out once more and found
a brace of well-dressed lads
whom I felt sure would be
able to help me with my task.

I approached them and asked
if they knew where I might
find some refreshments.
The gravediggers are incredible!
Can anyone (not you Doc,
and not you either, Liesa...
You both know) tell me what
my costume is?
I think I have an idea (with a little help from Google....) Will PM you.
The wench was after me rum!!
That's because she knows how to get what she wants!

You don't think I can?

I'm strangely OK with that!
So was I!

You guys probably high five like this...
Wait... you mean you don't?
I don't think you can be in
the club, then. Sorry.
I'm betting they're CMs.

What do you think?
Nope.
Guests for sure.

That's fair.
bladder of a 3 year old?
She has IBTTB syndrome.
(Itsy bitsy teeny tiny bladder)

Ooh, I can't wait to see these awesome pictures....I just know pkondz won't screw this up.
Um...
even more costumes!!! yes!
Er….
maybe it's a stupid question -- but I though both seats are equidistant. Is there a slight twist of the buggy during the scene? I guess I'll be on the lookout in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!!!!
Woot!
But it starts and ends with
the ballroom on the right.
My parents just did the xmas party and they were not impressed. They thought the crowds were way too much.
I won't do the Xmas party again.
our left or your left?
Left side of the photo
as you look at it.

yes -- I can tell you.

But will I?
No one really knows!!
You really should start watching where you're going. Bumping into people is not a good look.
Nah. It's more fun to bowl
small people over.

you could at least provide a...
It's in my siggie.
Ya gotta meet me
halfway, here.

That was my thoughts on the Christmas Party. I wanted to catch the entertainment and photo ops.'
I get that.
I won't do another Xmas
party though.
I think you found out otherwise.
Well...
There you go, cup half full.
And if you think your cup
is half empty... get a smaller cup.

It's not my favorite but it is my favorite in Fantasyland.
Oh, easily!
I was very happy they didn't do it for the Christmas party.
I would think so!

:scared1:Gah! Don't do that!
Sorry. I forgot about your
delicate constitution.

I've never been, and always heard good things. But I have also heard the stories about the parties being over-sold now. Sad.
They're far more crowded.
I mean... by a lot.

Well, of course. We knew that too.
No idea who that is.
Never seen Hocus Pocus?
What?? Turn in the DIS Dad card.
Okay... that's what I thought!
Gotta admit...I'd be the t-shirt guy.
And that's okay.
But I like... doing a bit more.

Good job, Liesa! I owe you ten bucks.
:lmao:
I mean...yeah.
I really can't argue here.
Man, first the guy with the knife, now a lady with a crook. Maybe this isn't the ride for you.
My insurance carrier refuses
to cover me if I ride that anymore.

Feed a concussion, huh? I'll have to try that next time.

I mean, if it happens.
Like if there's any mosquitoes.
Sigh...there was never a thing Disney bean-counters couldn't ruin.
:sad2:
But why is all the rum gone?

I'm sure someone already beat me to that line, but whatever.
Someone had. :)
Mmmm...bacon...
I had portable bacon.
Always room for one more!
Yeah, pretty mu... HEY!
Well, it doesn't seem to have hurt him any.
Right?
Well, dang. I'll admit, I don't know if I have it yet, but if I did figure it out, it took me quite a while. But then again, I'm not very bright.
No. You're not.
We expect that of you, though.

Kidding, of course. :)
Man, she is really serious about that whole "I need more alcohol at Disney" rant.
:lmao: :rotfl:
Ugh. Sorry it wasn't the same this time around.
Ah well. I've seen it before.

I've only been to MNSSHP once but would definitely go again!
I would too.
It's just too much fun.

The level of detail and creativity is incredible!
Very much so!
Some people are just
so talented!
Be careful that they didn't try to make you their 1000th happy haunt!
I'd be okay with that...
But maybe not quite yet.

The gravediggers are incredible!
::yes::
That's because she knows how to get what she wants!
Yes she does!
Sometimes being in the moment is more important than any photos will ever be.
It makes for lousy trip reporting...
but is more relaxing. :)

Leading up to this vacation,
I knew I wanted to do MNSSHP
one more time.

::yes::::yes::

It's questionable whether I'll
do it again after this time...
but, most likely, if the opportunity
presents itself, I think I would.
Even with the crowds...
it's just too darned fun.

Every year I complain about crowds and increasing price at MNSSHP and that they don't change the characters offered. And every year I return :rotfl:

(If you look in the crowd, right in the middle, you can see a pretty impressive Winifred Sanderson costume.)

oo true. There's always so many great Sanderson sisters.

Wow these are fantastic.

And... really... it doesn't get
much stranger than me, right?
Tell me if I'm right.

Hmm idk I work in an ER I've met much stranger.

They were kind enough, at least,
to point me in the proper direction.

:rotfl::rotfl:

He thanked me... And then I
said "Of course there are
hundreds of bottles..."

He replied, "I'm up for the challenge!"

:rotfl::rotfl:

Not really... but it could
be a lot worse. :)
Well I hope it's better now?!

There were way more guests than
I'd ever seen before at MNSSHP.
I couldn't believe how crowded it was in August. Unless things change, I don't know that I'll go to another :sad2:

Well I hadn't checked in on your TR for a few days, so naturally I was about 86 pages behind... Sounds like you had some great fun at MNSSHP, despite the concussion, crowds, and losing track of Doc and Coni :headache: And thank goodness for the rum :drinking1

Me too!
Well... not every year,
since I'm not there every
year at MNSSHP time.

But when I am... I go.

::yes::

Well... okay, I can see that.

But... we're supposed to get
more snow today...
We'll see how it goes
after
that.
I couldn't believe how crowded it was in August. Unless things change, I don't know that I'll go to another :sad2:
I will.
I don't need to do rides
at a party, so those don't
bother me... except for HM.
I have to do that one.
But I can wait until later
when the crowds die down.

The rest is just too much fun. :)

One must stay hydrated.
Florida heat, you know.
