Canadian Buffoon's Exhausted Vacation - Update 09/01 - New TR link!

Wow you got some amazing photos!!
Thanks, Kathy! :)
They flew over Toronto on Sunday and I saw them, but by the time I got my phone out and camera ready for a pic they were so far away they looked like birds lol. I knew they were coming and was out for a walk but then got lost in a podcast and forgot to look out for them until I heard them!!
I'm betting a lot of people were taken
by surprise when they heard them,
rather than heard of them. :)

Great photos! We had a flyover from the Air Force National Guard last month. It was 2 B-52s escorted by F-15s. I totally forgot and got caught up in work. Didn't remember until I felt the building shake and it was too late.:(

Oh, man! That would've been so cool!
I "see" your B52s (usually with escorts too)
often enough on radar, but not with my eyes.
If they did happen to fly directly overhead,
they'd be too high to really make much of an
"oooh" moment.

Since this thread has been started again I can let you know that tomorrow - Thurs May 14th is National Caesar Day in Canada. It is always the Thursday before the Victoria Day long weekend. Enjoy.

Did not know that!
I just always hear about May two-four,
which means beer, of course...
and I don't drink beer.

Now I have a reason to celebrate!

Hear that Alison @franandaj ?

Cool pics! We were supposed to get some kind of flyover a few days ago, but at the last minute they cut out So Cal from the itinerary.

I could write about my life in general, but who really wants to read"
"I woke up... again... so that's good. Kinda stumbled through the day until it was time to go back to bed."

Those two times (time to rise/time to sleep) seem to be approaching each other, somehow.

But we could hear all about your quarantine delicacies that you are fixing for the family!

What did you do that made them so angry???

I just did the sourdough spinach bowl 3-4 days ago again!

Love those pictures. I saw the Snowbirds at an air show in Montana 30+ years ago and they were great!
Last week we got a flyover by the Blue Angels, but it was a smaller formation (6 of them) and that was nice. They flew over the hospitals in New Orleans and then did a loop over some Northshore hospitals, which is where I saw them.

Thanks! :)

They've been around a while. :)
Don't think many (outside of Canada)
know of them, though.

Nice! I've heard of the Blue Angels for
literally decades, but have yet to see them.
I really need to get out to an airshow
(when this current situation improves)

and see them and a few others. :)

I’ve seen pics on Facebook too. Seems they are going all over. Not sure if it’s the same ones though. Some flew over Akron and my friend saw them.
Isn’t this a crazy time? I had to cancel my trip to Seattle. Hoping to go in July. Waiting to see what happens. Disney is off for this year. Maybe next year. What about you, any travel plans? Does anyone have travel plans???

Well, hi there stranger. :)
I know there's at least a couple different units flying.
Up here, we only have the one team, but in your country
I know you have a few to pick from:
Blue Angels, Thunderbirds, and apparently

the National Guard.
Isn’t this a crazy time? I had to cancel my trip to Seattle. Hoping to go in July.
Sorry to hear that.
Hope it works out for you
in July.
Disney is off for this year. Maybe next year.
I think a lot of people are in
that boat. Myself included.

What about you, any travel plans? Does anyone have travel plans???
Nope. Nada.
Had an Alaskan cruise that
I would be just finishing tomorrow.
Also had plans for Disney at some point
and Vegas in August.

All cancelled.

Even an August trip is canceled? Was that by you or an airline or hotel?
Yeah July might be too soon. So maybe September.
I’m still hoping to do a cruise in November.
It all depends on what’s happening in the world.
I can’t wait to get a haircut, get my nails done and go out to eat.

By me.
No telling when the border will open,
or if I cross the border if I will have to
self-quarantine for 2 weeks on return.
And right now, I couldn't get the leave approved in August.

(Although that's supposed to change soon.)
Yeah July might be too soon. So maybe September.
Maybe? :confused3

Yeah, that's about it. I sure hope cruises
are up and running again soon, but...
Considering all the ships that were not
allowed to come in to port, or passengers
not allowed to disembark...
That's something that needs to be

addressed before I'll take one.
I can’t wait to get a haircut, get my nails done and go out to eat.
Ugh! Me too!
Um... hair... not nails.
Oddly enough, I'm not missing
eating out all that much.

Hi Pkondz! Sorry I disappeared for awhile... we were busy near the beginning of the year and then I lost the desire to read about Disney after we had to cancel our trip. Now that I'm feeling (a bit) better about that I look forward to reading about everyone's past trips (and eventually re-planning our own!).

I really enjoyed the end of your trip report! I must admit I did not guess your MNNSHP costume... but it was very clever! I wonder if the "unlimited" pass for the party led to the crazy crowds, as every trip report I've read noted crazy crowds for the MNNSHP in 2019. Who knows what they'll do this year?!

I'm thrilled you loved Hoop Dee Doo! I've been twice and enjoyed it both times. I'm also very amused you were seated at our table (see Anika and I's visit in 2015). It's such a great seat for the show! The security guard sounds like he needs a bit of Disney magic... good grief.

I hope you're doing well and look forward to a future trip report!

I could never work night shift! We did TSA pre check last year and worth it but we hope now to even be able to use it this year

Hi Pkondz!
Hi, Jenny!
Sorry I disappeared for awhile... we were busy near the beginning of the year and then I lost the desire to read about Disney after we had to cancel our trip.
Totally understand.
I think a lot of people
were in "mourning" about
canceled trips and weren't
overly in the mood for

anything Disney.
Now that I'm feeling (a bit) better about that I look forward to reading about everyone's past trips (and eventually re-planning our own!).
Okay!
And how are you and
the family??

How old is M, now?
I really enjoyed the end of your trip report! I must admit I did not guess your MNNSHP costume... but it was very clever!
:sad2:
Too clever.
Almost no one got it.

I wonder if the "unlimited" pass for the party led to the crazy crowds, as every trip report I've read noted crazy crowds for the MNNSHP in 2019. Who knows what they'll do this year?!
I suspect this year...
if there is a this year,
will be a lot less crowded. :rolleyes1

Oh, yes. I told them
"I want Jenny's and Anika's table"
and they hooked me right up.
The security guard sounds like he needs a bit of Disney magic... good grief.
Or a bit of firing.
I hope you're doing well and look forward to a future trip report!
Muddling along.
Let's see. Knee hurts,
I just hurt my back (again)
5 minutes ago... but other

than that... not bad!

Both the blue angels and the thunderbirds are a 6 ship formation. 4 main and then 2 solos that join in for the delta formation. The snowbirds have a LOT more aircraft.

They've been around a while. :)
Don't think many (outside of Canada)
know of them, though.
Since I was stationed at Nellis (home of the thunderbirds), I have a bit more interest in aerial demonstration teams than most. The one's from Italy and Great Britain I think are cool in that they use multi colored smoke. I also have to give credit to the snowbirds...when you have a larger formation, it's tougher...the outside edges have a lot more work to stay in formation, where the closer ones don't have as far to move during maneuvers.

Blue Angels, Thunderbirds, and apparently
the National Guard.
Not the national guard per se. Any flying squadron CAN be called in for special events (i.e. flyovers of sporting games and such), but the national guard is not dedicated to that. Air Force - Thunderbirds. Navy - Blue Angels. Army - Golden Knights (parachute not aircraft). Not sure the Marines or Coast Guard have a dedicated team...will have to look that up.

I can’t wait to get a haircut, get my nails done and go out to eat.
 Carrie

Me too.

Well, maybe go out to eat.
I've kinda enjoyed letting my hair (and beard) grow and not caring.
Nails...nope, teeth are working just fine. :lmao:

Eating out more so I want to help the restaurants than a strong desire to eat out.
I've mentioned to a few folks...I'm not in a hurry to rush back to Disney when they re-open. I'm not panicky about the virus, but it's still out there and being in such close proximity to that many (even if 25%) people is not my idea of sane or safe.
