I DID IT!!
Just got off the phone with DCL. DH, DS 14, DD 6,DM and myself will be cruising on the 7 NIGHT WESTERN!! I am soooo excited about this. I went from a cat 3 and cat 4 to two cat 5's...

I had started another thread about ways to save money on my Jan 11 cruise, when it really started to bother me about taking my son out of school for those 4 days-in his freshman year of high school. I just wasn't thinking clearly when I made the plans. Anyway, all you great DIS'ers out there were very supportive, as usual.

It is more money, but between having more time to save and counting on a tax refund, it actually is more affordable this way.

So, there it is. Since I first came upon DCL, I have wanted to sail the 7 night western, and with the help of God, I will be!!

WEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Yikes! the airfare is more than 2x higher than Jan. Makes sense, I guess. It's a holiday week. Oh well. Tomorrow I'm calling allseastravel to ask them to take my booking from DCL. It is much cheaper.

We'll keep the ship clean for you. We're going the week before. I think it is too early to book your flight though. I'd wait a while. Some airlines don't even have their schedules yet (ie Airtran). I think when more competition comes, there will be lower fares. What is your city of departure?

Hi..We are leaving from JFK. I did some checking and Jetblue (my preference) is $224 one way. I then checked cheaptickets.com and got $220 one way. So far, I'll go for Jetblue. It being a holiday week, do you think the prices will come down?

Wait at least until Airtran releases its schedule. They fly out of Laguardia. Also, if you live near Islip you can sometimes find good deals there. $220 one way is too much. Did you know that not all airlines use Travelocity, Expedia etc? Check the airline's sites directly too. Good luck!

I just got off the phone with Sandy at Allseastravel- What a doll!!
This is what customer service is all about. Besides saving me tons of money, she is kind, patient, polite, personable and very knowledgable(sic). I really put her through the ringer with questions and pricing. She was a delight to work with.

I am moving my ressie from DCL to Allseastravel and she makes the process so easy. They're even going to check out some airfares for me. Just to help me find the best deal.

I highly recommend this agency! What a relief!
