Dress for casinos?

We're soon heading for our first trip and I'm not sure what to pack. Can you wear shorts in most casinos or should I pack sundresses? Also, what about men? Are restaurants pretty casual?

in any casino you can wear just about whatever you want. Most restaurants fall into the same category. you may find a select few restaurants where there is a "dress code", no shorts, or business casual required BUT even if you do run into those places, they have a bar area that is still full menu that you can eat at.

Unless you plan to eat at an upscale restaurant or go to a "club", you can wear whatever you would normally wear when out and about.

There is a lot of walking so make sure you have comfortable footwear. For summer, I'd just plan on shorts and tee.

You will find a variety of attire - evening wear (gowns/tuxes) to torn jeans and ratty tee shirt. No one even blinks at either ... just wear what you are comfortable in.

For ladies, I would suggest a purse that has a strap that crosses the body. You want to be "hands free" as much as possible. I use a Baggilini Uptown purse. The strap is wide and the purse flat enough that it will just lay on my lap whether playing at a BJ table or at the slots. I've never seen a problem with purse stealing, but you don't want to have anything that you would set down and then forget. You could use a fanny pack (LOL) and I did for many, many years -- a bit dated, but you will still see them. Most ladies will have the flat type of purse with the cross-body strap.

Have fun!

This is a pretty casual city. Wear whatever you want. Very few restaurants have dress codes. None of the casinos do.

At this time of year (with high temperatures over 100 degrees F) shorts are perfectly acceptable.

Very casual city. Wear what you normally would. Maybe a nice outfit for a night on the town.

I remember the first day I was there I felt strange walking round in a vest, but then it just became the normal! The footwear advice is very good, I wore flip flops one day and nearly ended up throwing msyelf under a bus!

After you see what the cocktail waitresses in the casino are wearing (or not wearing) :scared1: shorts will seem quite modest.

My DW and myself celebrated our 10 years this past June/July in LV. It is very casual in the casnios. In fact it was so casual that I saw a bunch of guys in their bathrobes playing blackjack in the Mirage as I was going to get our morning coffee.
