Dueling Piano Bar

Can anyone who's been there tell me about it? What time do they perform? Any food served? Thanks

I've only been to Pat O'Brien's once, but they had a woman playing alone early in the evening (6 or so?) and it was very quiet in there, but then the dueling piano playing started at around 8. It really was hopping around there by about 10. I know Pat O'Brien's serves food, but there are several different sections of this place. I know kids under 21 aren't allowed into the dueling piano bar area, as I saw people being turned away.
Tuesdays are 2 for 1 Hurricane night, FYI. That is their signature drink and that's a very good deal!
Did you also need to know WHAT the entertainment is like or are you familiar with this sort of setup?

Karen,
Thanks for your reply. I've been to JellyRolls at WDW. The set up there is 2 people play for an hour and then they switch with another 2. It is continuous music all night. You put your requests on the piano along with a tip, if neither one knows the song they give you your money back. Does P. Obrien's sound similar?

Halle,
I'm a BIG fan of Jellyrolls...I can have a grand time planting myself in a seat for the evening, drinking and singing along (without anyone calling the police for disturbing the peace like at home! ;) ) Heck, I've even been known to get up and dance there! LOL
Anyway, yea, it's the same concept. The difference I found was that at Pat Obrien's, they seem to focus less on the importance of singing along, and they did more obscure songs. Alot of Beatles and such, but like I said, not so much with the singing along.

In all honesty, I really prefer Jellyrolls...I have gone there enough that I know the talent, and while you do end up with alot of the same songs there since it's almost all-request, it's still a really great time, every time! The guys that were on the night at Pat O's, unfortunately didn't "do it for me" so to speak. But it was still fun...but I am too music oriented to be able to deal with performers being off key! :)
I'm sure that's not always the case...but what was worse was they had the sheet music in front of them too...something you don't see at Jellyrolls, either! :)

Go and enjoy and be sure to report back to us how you enjoyed it!

Karen,
Performers singing off key???Lol....I was a music major in college, I think we'll stick to JellyRolls! Thanks for the insight, we're taking our neighbors, they've never been so we want the best possible experience. On the outside chance that we head over to P. O'Briens I'll post our experience. Thanks again.

It was mostly the music was not in the right key to begin with...and then they weren't in key with the songs. But like I said, that might not have been normal!

I'm sure it's alot of fun, and I'm anxious to get back to give it another try. I don't believe in passing on something forever based on one off night... :)

But yea, I'd say Jellyrolls is definitely superior...beware of Tuesday nights there...it's castmember night, which is EXTREMELY fun, and wild...but get there early if you like a good table! ;)

Have fun!
Karen
Who needs to get to Jellyrolls for her "fix" soon! :D

Karen,

I can't believe it, we went on a Tuesday night, and didn't know until now that it was castmember night!!! It was wild and one guy had to be escorted out!! Just added to the excitement!
