Exciting or Terrifying? A Med PTR

Tick tock, tick tock!

This update may or may not get finished since the Dis just ate the first draft. :headache:

No update last week because mother's day made for a very busy weekend. It was a great time to spend with my family though and I got a solo trip to Target. Serenity.

The next six days are super intense but I'm going to make it! Graduation today, getting all my students to camp on Monday, getting myself to camp on Wednesday for my one night, and the last day of school on Friday. Phew! It's all downhill from there.

Currently the ring chain looks like this.

My Shoe Problem

I think I've solved the shoe debate for myself after ordering and trying on 6 pairs. Here are the top two.

These are super cute and comfortable. But even with an insole I worry they aren't supportive enough for full day touring.

Super supportive, cool, and cute. Everyone I know bought white sneakers this year. Downside is that I've heard Americans aren't "supposed" to wear sneakers in Europe. However, if I pack these, I won't have to pack additional gym shoes.

So, I'm going to keep both but only take the Adidas. I think it's a good compromise.

Shoes - check!

Pause before the Dis eats it. Again.

Packing

I'd say I'm 80% packed in terms of clothes. Still need to add two dresses I wear to work and socks, shoes, and underwear.

I've labeled the packing cubes so I know what needs to come out of the suitcase when.

Family gifts are finished plus my half of the FE. When I load in all the clothes and that stuff, my suitcase weighs 33lbs and there's room to spare. DD will also get a checked bag. We each get 50 lbs, so I'm feeling really good about space. No, that doesn't mean I'm going to start adding stuff to the list.

Other Stuff

I checked this book out of the library. Love it! I'm going to renew it and take it with us.

Things are moving along. I know this next part is going to fly.

Another Slight Complication

Well, I guess I'll be adding a few items to my suitcase. Check out the 14 day forecasts for Barcelona, Rome, and Cannes.

For those of you who aren't as familiar with Celsius, that's high 60's to mid 70's. Yikes! I guess I need to add a couple transitional pieces. At least I've got packing space, but I was really hoping to stay WAY under. I also was looking forward to nice warm beach weather. I need to remind myself that this will be much nicer for touring.

Ummmm....26C is 84F......27C is 86F. I think you should definitely bring some warm weather clothes. To this West Coast BC gal those temps look fabulous! The coolest day I see there is 20C which is 70F.

I mean yes, but it's already in the 90's here! I'm usually wearing long sleeves, long pants, and possibly a jacket when it's in the 70's. I promise I'm not taking anything out, I'm just adding some options.

Rome definitely looks the warmest and, since it's such a busy day, I won't cry if it's not sweltering

Oh my gosh, well then yes I think after sweltering in 90+ degrees 75F might be a welcome change!

Ack!

We leave town tomorrow evening. These weeks have sure flown by.

Memorial Day weekend we reacquainted ourselves with the community pool. My last day with students was the Friday before the holiday weekend.

She also got a new suitcase for her birthday so I can finish packing. (I knew my parents had purchased one for her.)

Then yesterday was her last day of school and my last day of meetings!

For our last team meeting, we gathered at a coworkers house, knocked out our last few agenda items, and then celebrated a great year.

I worked out this morning and went to the bank. Today I'll finish laundry and packing. We are trying to go to the pool, but thunderstorms keep blowing through. Need to get to the library to pick up my book on hold.

Tomorrow there's a birthday party in the afternoon and we drive halfway to Chicago!

It's really happening!

Yay, another successful school year in the books!

Happy birthday to your DD!!!

Can't wait to read all about your fantastic adventures!!!!

Is this still pre?

Just an update that we made it to Barcelona safe and sound! Today we see Sagrada Familia and Casa Battlo.

Aer Lingus took great care of us and the whole experience of international travel felt smooth and easy.

I'll do a full report after we cruise but here is a sneak peak to travel day(s).

Flying from Chicago to Barcelona, where were your layovers? If you are going to talk about that in your trip report, just wait to answer, I will be reading it tonight.

This looks familiar. Is it Gulf Shores? My husband took a gap year mid-college and spent it working in Gulf Shores as a waiter. That experience convinced him he needed to return to school and finish his education. :rotfl2:
