trying to understand the Universal Express thing. Obviously, never used this system before, but have used fast pass many... Is there any differnce if I stay onsite at HRH or just visit for the day when I use the Express system? Sorry to be so dense about this...

The difference is that the key allows you unlimited Universal Express access. If you didn't have a valid room key, then you need to use the Universal Express machines to get a ticket and a window to come back. You can only get 1 ticket at a time or every two hours. The key doesn't have any limitations.

If you stay onsite, you show your room key and go directly to the express line. If you stay off site, it works much like Fast pass at Disney, except the express pass gives you two time options for your return to the ride.
