DH just signed up to do Sept 2018 Half marathon. Hoping DLP goers or another runner may be able to give us a tip or two on finding accommodations to give easy access to run event as well as staying a day or so in conjunction with the run event. Thinking we would want to stay as close to run start as possible....but need three rooms for family....so looking for affordability/value also. Folks mention using English or Websites other than US Disney ... not sure how to go about Locating those sites....and lastly, should I commence to planning now? ...concerned about availability. If we were doing WDW Fl...definitely would need to get going on reservations....not sure bout DLP.

I hear that some of the places in Val d'Europe offer good value.

What date have they set for next year's race?

Looks like its going to be 20th-23rd September according to various charity sites so must have signed up through them as Disney haven't released dates and packages/race bibs usually go on sale later

The budget onsite hotels are Santa Fe and Cheyenne

The next closest locations are the Partner / Good Neighbour Hotes
Kyraid
Magic Circus
Dream Castle
Explorers
B & B Hotel
These are located on a road at the very edge of Disney property and have free shuttle buses to the parks

The other location is Val d'Europe which is a purpose made village at the far side of Disney property.
There are many accommodation options located here such Hotel l'Elysee. The easiest way to get to / from Val d'Europe is the train, its just one stop. There are also buses and I think some people use taxis.

The Ireland and UK websites are in English, all the others are in that country's language. All the websites have the same look and layout, so just open US website in one tab / window and open another country in a different tab / window and do all the steps on each website.[/QUOTE]

I saw good prices for the off-site hotels on Hotels.com yesterday. Does anybody know if they run early shuttles in connection with the HM, or do people need to plan to walk?

From all I have heard, the shuttles from the partner hotels were much better this year for getting people to the resort for the races.

Just got back from this years event. We stayed at the Santa Fe, which was about a 10-15 minute walk from the start/finish lines. I definitely find staying onsite and walking the easiest option for the parks.

We stayed at Sequoia Lodge for this year's race. The convenience factor is definitely a plus, the entrance to the corrals is just behind the Newport Hotel. With the start time of 7am, we headed out for the corrals at 6:15am and still made it with plenty of time. The lines through security were fairly long but they tried to move everyone as quickly as possible.

Getting back to the hotel post-race was a breeze because they did a good job of altering the flow of the course so crossing over wasn't that hard.

We had breakfast included at the hotel and they opened at 5am on race mornings. They also stayed open until 12pm so you could come back and get some post-run food.

Many thanks for the leads, websites, and especially hearing from those who did this year's race. Will be looking into all angles for sure....please post any other tips and I will keep checking back.

I've run the DLP half twice and both time I've stayed offsite. If you're on a budget, then have a look at the hotels in Bussy Saint George and Torcy. They can be quite less expensive than the onsite hotels and even cheaper than Val d'Europe. You can take the RER to the park, there are trains early enought to reach the start line and if you close your eyes you can image you're on the monorail :) *
It takes less than 10 minutes by train to reach the resort and then

I've booked the hotel Mercure at Bussy Saint George this year (a 4* hotel) for 40£ a night. Last year I booked the Kiryad at Torcy for a similar price. I can reccommend both as a good option (if you don't plan to stay in the hotel much and spend most of the time in the parks). For supercheap there is a Premier Class in Bussy Saint George, but you probably have a closet at home bigger than their rooms.

* that's an idea for a virtual reality app: ride the RER and watch the surroundings through the phone like if you're at WDW. If anyone will develop this I'll happily buy it!
