So I assume you know who I am.

TheLastPrincess.

Colleen.

The Girl Whose Guy Proposed To Her In That Awfully Big Ruckus On Main Street With The Dapper Dans, Etc.

The person who asked so long ago...

"IS DISNEY 4 LOVERS TOO?!"

Well. I am here. And I come with an answer.

Where is Disneydad, by the way?

And Mr. "I Love the '80s Disney World" who so time-consumingly found and uploaded his beloved pictures from past trips in a sort of retro trip report?

And all of you readers I neglected to report to when I got home?

I have a good excuse. Really, I do. Do you want to hear it?

I can promise you that this was by far the WORST Disney trip I've ever seen. As my DH says, I was "robbed."

And come on, I know how much you love those nail-biting, cringe-inducing reality shows. The ones where you get to watch the Everyday Man endure torturous events and trials. Well, this Disney trip was sort of like that. Like a "Survivor"-style trip, without the million dollar prize.

So...who wants to be on the edge of their seat?

Survival Tactics DAY 1 - "This is Nothing Like How a First Day SHOULD Be!"
Survival Tactics DAY 2 - "Relieve Yourself at Epcot"
Survival Tactics DAY 3 - "I Hope I Didn't Pee in the Pool, and Other Wishes"
Survival Tactics DAY 4 - "Excuse me, where is the bathroom INSIDE the castle?"
Survival Tactics DAY 5 - "That Darned Coral Reef Cursed My Digestive & Urinary System!"
Survival Tactics DAY 6 - "It was an OK Day - Minimal Bladder Issues!!!"
Survival Tactics DAY 7 - "Oh no...Oh NO...OH NO!!!!!!!!! I'm sick!!!!!!!!"
Survival Tactics DAYS 8, 9, & 10 - "SICK"
FINAL THOUGHTS AND REVELATIONS

So....

No, contrary to popular belief, I am not dead.

And no matter how much I'd like to lead you to believe I've been basking in Disney magic this whole time, we really did come back on our return date, September 23, 2007.

But the thing is...I was GLAD to be home. THRILLED, even. I never, ever though I'd be saying those words. I mean, EVER.

Because I am a Disney-crazed nut. I get excited about Disney the way people get excited about the Super Bowl. Or buying a new car. Yes...because going to Disney costs a small fortune to begin with.

My name is Colleen, and this is our Honeymoon Trip Report.

I got engaged at Disney World. But that's really an understatement. Because our engagement was more like a production only Disney could do. And it was a good thing, too, that my DH was smart enough to ask me to marry him at my favorite place on earth, the Magic Kingdom.

It is quite a story. I still get goosebumps thinking about it. You can read all about it by clicking on the link at the bottom of my sig.

We were married on June 2, 2007, in our hometown. We had a subtle (but obvious) Disney-themed wedding.

Of course, a Disney Honeymoon was planned, but we waited till September for that extinct but awesome moneysaver - The Free Disney Dining Plan, when appetizers and gratuity were still included!

It seemed like a good idea at the time, waiting and all. Because that summer, June through September, I was very sick. I'm talking urinary tract infections, people, one right after the other. I'm told they're very common after you get married. Oh, that's right, people told me that AFTER the fact. In other words, I didn't know what I could do to help my body defend itself from evil bacteria until AFTER said bacteria had taken over my bladder.

Allow me to stress that I firmly believe, after childbirth, this is the second-worst pain I will ever be in.

And it wasn't enough that I had the infections - no, of course, my bladder was damaged. Irriversibly. Otherwise known as interstitial cystitis. And I have the MILD form of it. I can't imagine what it would be like if it was WORSE.

So after the antibiotics, and overdosing on cranberry (which I found out, in the wrong amount, can actually irritate the bladder further, not help it), my bladder was completely shot.

And even to this very day, I STILL experience some pain and discomfort associated with too much soda or caffeine, at which point I must flush myself with water like crazy to "soothe" my poor sick bladder.

I'm not exaggerating here. It was an awful experience. :sad1:

After we got home, I saw a specialist, but there was little he could do without scoping me, and even then, there was no sure way of knowing what was wrong with me. He said I should "stick it out" for as long as possible to let the bladder heal itself, and if I wasn't feeling better by such-and-such a date, to come back for a scope.

Ugh. I stuck it out.

Gradually, slowly, I started feeling better. The burning and discomfort went away. I could drink coffee again without regretting it later. I am still not 100%, nor do I ever think I will be, as my bladder seems forever scarred by this experience, but I can manage it now.

I will be completely and totally honest here: by the end of this trip, though, I was Disneyed out. I couldn't bring myself to even WRITE a trip report when I got home because I was so bitter about the experience. How could this happen to me? I thought. How UNFAIR!!!!! And so I took a hiatus from my Disney fanatacism to focus on our marriage, and other more important things. And then time passed quickly as our lives grew and changed in our new home...........and then it became chaotic when it became absolutely necessary for us to move out of an apartment complex that was going downhill FAST.

So, the last thing I wanted to do was force myself to write a Trip Report about a trip that, at first, I largely wanted to forget.

This is sad, isn't it? I mean, this is DISNEY WORLD, we're talking about, not to mention a HONEYMOON!

As my DH so accurately reports: I was "robbed."

But through the passing of time, something magical has happened to change the outlook, and in the process, has also changed the past a little, too. You'll see how through the course of this trip report! It really was (and is) an adventure!

So in September, we had it all planned out:

Animal Kingdom Lodge
Dinner Reservations
10 Day Park Hopper + Water Parks & More

I couldn't WAIT to get there. We had a good first summer of being married together, but it was especially hard being sick all the time...and we needed a vacation. I was dreaming day and night of a perfect honeymoon in which I would show my DH that yes, Disney Is For Lovers, Too!

I should have known, however, that something wasn't right when we left for the airport that morning, September 14,

sorry to hear you did not have a good time. DH and I were there around the same time as you Sept 22-29 at BWI. can't wait to hear more.

So sorry about your bladder issues! I had them when I was preganant with my child. They are not fun but I do not experience everything you did!

Sounds like you did need a Disney Break! I look forward to hearing more when your ready!

What an awesome start! You have me hooked :)

What beautiful wedding photos! I loved the bridesmaid dresses and the cake was disneyesque while still being elegant :)

Can't wait to hear more (although I am sorry to hear it was such a bad experience :().

Hi Colleen, I was subscribed to your pre-trip report and I saw you post on Dan's thread that you had started up your TR.

I am so sorry that the trip turned out to be a stinker as you were so looking forward to it. Hopefully it did not sour your opinion of Disney forever.

I watched your proposal video and it brought tears to my eyes.

Your video was awesom. Sorry your trip went poorly. Hope you are not giving up on Disney for Lovers! Waiting for the rest of your TR popcorn::
