We had a terrible experience at Tusker House.
Probably the worst dining experience we’ve ever had

Ugh. So sorry to hear about that. I've never been and you certainly aren't giving me a reason to feel I should.

However I was baffled to see that the restaurant was almost completely empty!
I am not kidding!

What the?

That's.... weird.

Are you supposed to be given new knives and forks?
Because I used the same spoon for oatmeal, coffee and yoghurt.
Maybe that’s my fault and we were supposed to pick up new cutlery at the buffet.
But I don't think I've ever done that at a buffet before..?

I think you usually just re-use the cutlery you have, don't you?

We planned on going down to the pool for a couple of hours, but as soon as we got back to the room I fell asleep!

It was a fantastic choice!

I have heard so many people talk of that bread service.

For our main course we both got the Potje.

Never heard of it and it sounds amazing.

Stunningly beautiful dessert!

Sanaa was fantastic and I would even say it’s now one of my favourite restaurants at Walt Disney World!
Imagine that, our worst, and one of our best dining experiences is one day!

Glad you made up for the lousy start to the day!

The mini hot dishes were chowder and pork, but I didn’t get a photo of them for some reason.
But here’s the rest of the layout. It’s pretty spectacular.

I had TWO CROISSANTS with butter and jam, and a bowl of melon.
It was a good start to the day.

croissants make everything better.

However there were love-bugs EVERYWHERE.
Oh my goodness.
They bother me so much when they land on me, after a short while I just RAGE QUIT the pool and went back to the room to shower and tidy up while Jamie stayed out in the sun for a bit.

Awww... poor Katie. Love the term rage quit, though.

When you’re here for 3 weeks you can do whatever you want, whenever you want!

I guess.... I tend to have just a little less time.... like.... 4 days.

And I’m sure they always play a soundtrack that is just a baby screaming, because I hear that noise every single time I’m on these boats

We made a beeline straight to Germany!

This was our first time getting a treat from Karamell-Kuche!

We ate on a bench looking out at the lagoon, occasionally being stalked by this guy.

We got on a boat at International Gateway, and arrived back at Hollywood Studios at around 4:30pm!

You basically took the entire day to get a chocolate covered smore.

We arrived at Toy Story Mania about 10 minutes late, but the Magic Band scanner still lit up green, so they do allow a little leeway.

I got in trouble a couple of times for having my “walkie talkie” on the table

They were two women from Seattle Washington, one was celebrating her 50th birthday, and they told us that a few years ago they became the first same-sex couple to get engaged at Epcot!
And the story was VERY impressive…
One of them had secretly arranged for their friends to do the scuba diving at The Seas, while the couple were having dinner at Coral Reef.
The friends then took a banner up to the tank window where the couple were sitting, which said “will you marry me?”

Now that is quite the story!
I didn't think you were allowed to take anything into the tank.

I invite any of you to top that story!

Jamie had the fried chicken (which I didn’t get a picture of), and I got the chicken pot pie!

For dessert Jamie had this abomination

Jamie and I are not the types to get offended easily, so after having a giggle about the whole situation during the preshow we thought we’d be edgy and do the original pose for the ride photo.
But the Disney overlords blacked it out!

There was the tiniest most precious little boy in front of us, he was 3 years old and only JUST hit the height limit.
I’ve never seen anyone so tiny on Tower of Terror before!
After the video in the library he was like,
“That was really scary, but I’m not scared!”

When we were all buckled in and the doors were closing the CM came right up to the closing doors and said deadpan,
“You really should’ve taken the stairs…”

WOW i absolutely adored your trip report...i have read previous ones as well. I loved your AKL photos, based on those i have decided I need to slow down and look at all the many details.I have stayed there many times, and as I looked at your photos, I was like "what" where is that. I will have to do a dis meet with you some day. I lived in London for 4 years on an expat assignment, and have been going to DW for the last 25 years. Part 1 – Disney Springs and Saratoga Springs...again!

Again??? Sheesh! boring!!!

Jamie was almost as excited for this football as I am to come to Disney.
Literally.

When we got to the bus stop I realised Jamie was sounding croaky, and he said he had a sore throat.

I got off the bus at Harley Davidson and called in to get @pkondz a poker chip!

Yes you did!

He had told me that he collects poker chips from Harley Davidson stores, and when I asked if he had one from Downtown Disney, he said he never gets time to go there, plus he didn’t even know there was a store there!
Pkondz was going to be at Disney during my trip, and we’d made some plans to meet up, so this seemed like a good little gift!

And as you now know, I only want chips that I buy myself... and I did... and then lost it. So yours was perfect!!

I bought him a bright pink one so that he would always remember it was from me

It's the only one I have that is pink and is my favourite. And I have a lot.

But it was all good because when I was up at the podium I explained the situation, and they allowed me to just grab a huge ice cream from the to-go counter with no cancellation penalty

I ordered at the counter, and the girl who took my order told me I smelled good.

Okay... That's a bit.... odd.

We then we had a really quick but really sad conversation about she always smells of ice cream and now she doesn’t like ice cream

After the People Mover I went to Sleepy Hollow and met up with some Disney Instagram people who live in Florida!

Then we went to meet Chris’ friend Dani, who we found lying on the floor looking up at the castle

Today we sat in the gallery for the first time and honestly I liked it a lot!
It was much more spacious and relaxed than the crazy ballroom.

I've sat in every room now and I really don't have much of a preference except I do like watching the portrait change.

We both got our usual turkey sandwich, both with green beans and bottles of water.

And no French Onion soup.

Once Jamie finished his sandwich he kept pointing to “pictures he liked” behind me so that I turned around to look, then he’d pull pieces of turkey out of my sandwich

I really like Hymie's sense of humour.

Then when we were done it was about 6pm and we realised the Halloween Party had started!

I used to stay in something similar in Italy with my family so I think these are really cool.

I like those cabins. I stayed in similar when I was a kid too.

I promised I’d keep it forever, but it kept spiking me so I threw it away after approximately 90 seconds.

Come to Winnipeg and I'll make you a banana bread that'll knock your socks off.
It can be cold here, so bring extra socks.

So instead of our two dining plan desserts, we had a zebra dome each from the fridge!

There were lots of people trying to leave after the fireworks, and lots of other people lining Main Street for the 10pm Electrical parade

They should leave when you're going there, I think. I mean really.

As we walked down I witnessed someone being rammed with a stroller!
I thought that was just a DISBoards myth!

I've heard too many horror stories. Nope not a myth (but haven't witnessed it myself yet.)

After weaving in and out of stores we eventually made it to the PeopleMover and rode twice!

You realllly like that ride! And you do it right, too.

we rode Haunted Mansion while we waited for it to end.

But of course. Merely the best ride in all of Disney.... all of the World.

The line is much more fun at night.
(In fact, I think everything at Disney is more fun at night.)

We were eating at the new Skipper Canteen tomorrow night, so I told Jamie to “look at the menu”…
Which he did… literally.

Today is Halloween Party day!

This is completely foreign to me.

But there were people there who had been waiting for an hour already!
In total they ended up waiting an hour and a half!

How is this even possible???

We had some real problems with buses from Animal Kingdom Lodge.
It’s a shame because it’s definitely something I would take into consideration when deciding where to stay in future.

My #1 reason for not wanting to stay there. Shame. Otherwise it's a wonderful resort

So annoying.

At one point he got his head wedged between a pillar and a trashcan, and when he pulled his head back his ears were being pushed forward, it was so funny.
His parents had to come and free him.

I wasn’t hugely enthusiastic about the menu, but this place was fairly new at the time so I just wanted to try it!

Yep. I went for the same reason.
Like the theming though.

We started off with some bread and honey dip, which was really good!

Dessert was good though!
We both got the Kungaloosh, which was a thick chocolate sponge with caramelized banana and ice cream.
That’s my kind of dessert, I love a banana-chocolate combo!

Shoot! I didn't get that. Was too full from the meal.

When we left the restaurant it was POURING rain UGH.

At first I thought maybe you'd gone the same night I had... but...

I was not very impressed.

At this point I was wondering whether they would give refunds, or discounted tickets to another party or something.

Nope.

Then we got a spot for the late Boo-To-You parade!
After the earlier showing was cancelled, this 11pm showing was very busy.

I can imagine... but I'm glad you got to see at least one. Did the horseman come out? Or was it too wet still?
(Also how I figured out we were on separate nights. They did both parades.)

It’s probably my favourite part of the Halloween Party, so I’m glad they ran it!

Then we went to Storybook Treats to get a candy corn soft serve ice cream!

I didn't know about that!
Then again.... I don't like bits in my ice cream, so just as well.

We started the day off blow-drying our shoes after last night’s very rainy Halloween party!

Always a joy.

OBVIOUSLY our first stop was Hawaii, where we got a pork slider each

Then we went over to Canada.

We used one quick service dining credit to get two filet mignons and a cheddar cheese soup!

So he asked me to take it again and he would try to look straight…

He couldn’t seem to get it right today
I’ve never bothered to learn how to make a good car at Test Track, and Jamie always tries really hard, so I was feeling smug

We got a free Ghirardelli sample of milk chocolate and caramel.

Free is good... but free chocolate is better.

After a while we went for a stroll and I showed Jamie the scary clown slide at the pool!

Jamie ordered the OCTOPUS which was a very adventurous decision!
It came with scallops, some sea bass and king prawns.
He loved it!
(I also tried some, apprehensively, and it was very good!)

Quite possibly the last thing I’d order. Good for him for trying it.

Space Mountain’s lights were on!

This always seems like you won something when that happens.

Then we got a pineapple dole whip each!
Using my excessive number of snack credits, obviously!

Yumm! Yes please.

Mily was so funny meeting the characters.
She just chatted away like they were best buddies.

then again... why not?

She also asked about traditional English food, but fish and chips isn’t something we can really brag about

Next we met Ariel in her grotto!

My fiancée!

Cinderella pointed out that we had similar necklaces, and she gave us some tips on how to build and decorate a castle together!

This is good info.

We went into the Main Street Confectionary and they were giving out HUGE candy apple samples!

Lucky!! Love those.

Then we rode the carousel!
Mily found a horse with a gold bow on its tail and told me to take that one, because that’s Cinderella’s favourite horse!

This morning I had some cornflakes in the lounge at about 10:30am.

I guess all the excess you had access to gets a bit much after a while.

There were a few bugs but not as many as ususal so I managed to deal with it today, rather than rage-quitting.

Way to suck it up!

Jamie loooves Earl of Sandwich, so that’s where we went!

I must get there!

The woman next to us saw me taking pictures of our sandwiches and asked if we wanted a picture of us holding them

We've hit the peak level of Disney food pictures people.

For some reason there was no bus from Disney Springs to Epcot

Odd! Wonder why not?

As we walked past the new Ample Hills Creamery we were given a free sample of butter pecan milkshake!

Free is good. Not as good as free chocolate, but close.

As we walked over to Epcot some Japanese people walked by us, and Jamie became paranoid about what his t-shirt says, because we have absolutely no idea (is it even Japanese?!)

He should have asked!! Or just go into the store in Japan and ask anyone.

Have you seen the pictures of people in east Asia wearing shirts with random English jibberish on them… He was worried about being the English version of these people

Aaaand there was a ton of construction at the bus stop so they’d moved over to the villas.

(Spoiler alert, it didn’t, AND this ok-ish size below sold out too, and I’ve never been able to get my hands on it since! SADNESS.)

It was so good and soft and banana-y.

Jamie didn’t want a cupcake, so obviously he ended up eating half of mine

Today we went to Magic Kingdom at 12:30 for our Be Our Guest lunch ADR!

The infamous Magic Kingdom Crane was out today!

That crane is becoming as iconic as the castle.

Today we ate in the West Wing for the first time.
Now we’ve eaten in all three rooms!

We went straight to Hawaii to get a pork slider but unfortunately they had JUST closed all of the festival booths due to inclement weather

I had no idea that happened!

But now they had cost us a pork slider, and that just crosses the line.

Off with their heads!
After they serve some sliders, of course.

“I don’t mind getting electrocuted while I eat this, it’ll just give it a bit of a kick!”

They were yelling out “THE EIFEL TOWER!” and “EGYPT!” etc.
Jamie and I were very impressed!
Good job parents!

Then we left Soarin’, and the Food and Wine booths were back open!
WOOWOO.

Yuss!!

We went straight to Hawaii and got three pork sliders!

So... you're saying you like them?

We got a bouef bourgineon each and a bottle of water!
The beef was really good and tender!

Good to know!

the dessert was delicious!
I love anything peanut butter, so this with the white chocolate was an interesting twist on your regular Reese’s chocolate/peanut butter type treat.

I only found it meh. Then again, I don't typically like nuts in my dessert/food.
I like them separately though.

This really is a nighttime park if you ask me.
It feels so much cooler and more fun at night.

I think all parks feel (and look) cooler and more fun at night.

Then we went straight to Tower of Terror!
This is an attraction that is DEFINITELY cooler at night.

He said he’d marched straight through the line at Everest and didn’t get a chance to look at all of the theming.

First world problems.

I won the game against Jamie, AND I won best in vehicle!

They have these cool interactive posters in line that show the names of people nearby!

I've heard about that, but never seen them. Probably because I typically don't walk that way.

I had some big solo plans this morning!
I was hitting up rope drop at Magic Kingdom, having my first breakfast at Be Our Guest, and then I was doing the Keys to the Kingdom tour for the first time!

I headed straight to the PeopleMover to try to get some empty park shots from a high vantage point!

I was the first rider of the day!

aka the only rider!

However my favourite part of the breakfast was the pastry plate that came with it!

Pretty. I've been in there, but it's always been packed.

We were also given a bottle of water each, which was good because it was very hot this morning, and we were going to be out until about 2:30pm!

I hadn't realized how long it was!

However I also don’t want to give TOO much away because I strongly recommend doing this tour without reading too much about it first!

Miss Joyce refers to Joyce Carlson who created the dolls for It’s a Small World!

Ah! Did not know that.

Something fun that you can check out on Google Maps street view is that the foliage around the walkway from the hub to Adventureland is strategically placed so that Cinderella castle is not visible as you walk through.
As one of our guides said,
“There are no magical castles in Adventureland!”

That's really interesting... and it's true. You can't see it.

Something cool I learned was that Trader Sam’s loincloth is made of the material that used to be the veranda on the Jungle Cruise boats!

Really!

We saw the Splash dam where everyone’s hats, shoes and bottles end up when they’re dropped in the ride.
Yes, I did say SHOES.

We saw all of the electrical parade (which is so weird to see in daylight with none of the light bulbs on!), and also the floats for Boo-To-You and the Christmas parade!

No way! So cool!

This cast member has a switchboard that controls what Mickey says, and they tell Mickey what they’re going to do, only about two seconds in advance of doing it!
Mickey really needs to be on his toes at that meet and greet!

Pretty impressive.

I was honest and said the only two things that came to my mind were the Kentucky Derby, and KFC

Thankfully I think he was amused by this.
KFC is a pretty great asset to your state if you ask me.

I would've added bluegrass and bourbon I think.

We learned some Haunted Mansion trivia, such as Madame Leota’s face is a woman who is actually called Leota TOOMBS.

Appropriate, no?

Also her voice is the voice of Maleficent and Lady Tremaine!

After the ride we learned how the ballroom scene works.

Knew that too. Thanks Google!

These are nothing to look at theming wise, but for Disney superfans like myself, this was very exciting!

I bet! I'd like to see them too. Didn't know they were included on the tour.

And a sweet woman in our group had made some teeny tiny jars of pixie dust that she gave out to some of us!
How cute!

So tiny! And very nice of her.

My bag was packed up pretty full so I quietly left Jamie’s poncho behind in the room…
And OF COURSE it was pouring rain when we arrived at Epcot
He wasn’t impressed with me.

Whoops!

We made our way around to the Mexico pavilion which was super super busy, but we managed to locate our buddy @pkondz !

Aka Pedro, since he’s so cryptic about his identity here on the DIS,

so that is what Lu and I call him.

We chatted about our trips, and it turned out Lu was currently staying at the Poly in room 3510, which is the exact same room Jamie and I spent two weeks in last year!!
I hope she enjoyed it as much as we did

I wonder what the odds are of that?!?!?

It turned out he had made his first trip to the Disney Springs store the other day, but had lost the chip he bought!
So that all worked out great.

And thank you again!

I got an avocado margarita, Jamie got a cucumber margarita, and Lu and Pedro got blood orange margaritas!
Tasty!

I liked mine, at least.
Lu got the same thing I got because she secretly loves me and wants what I want.

She kept asking if we wanted more drinks, then eventually said,
“Do you want any more drinks, or just the cheque?”
LOL.

We took the hint and headed out to food and wine, where we ordered 8 pork sliders from Hawaii!
On our excessive dining plan credits, obviously

That was crazy. All those sliders.

Then we said goodbye to Pedro
It was so great to meet him (again)!

And it was an absolute treat meeting you guys!

We got a locker to store all of the candy that Pedro had given us

Whoops! I did worry about that actually. Now I owe you for the cost of a locker.

It’s a Small World was finally back open so obviously we were all super keen to ride that!

Why?

Then we went to ride Space Mountain but the wait was 60 minutes…
We couldn’t possibly wait 60 minutes for Space Mountain.
So we waited 60 minutes for SPLASH Mountain instead

Makes total sense.

Then all seven of the dwarfs ignored us and I lost all of my self worth.

Awwww... poor little Katie.

But THEN one of the donkey boys from Pinocchio went crazy waving at us, and he literally shouted “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” at Lu all the way down the street.

Like he would not stop turning around and shouting back to us until he was out of site, it was fantastic.

Well, that certainly makes up for it. Best interaction ever!

And THEN the one and only PETE from the Pete’s Dragon float wished Lu a happy birthday on his microphone and told her to eat lots of cake!
That was brilliant because it’s definitely the best float.

Or maybe that was the best ever.

It was soooo good to meet Lu!
She was so funny and sweet and pretty and just such an endearing person

She's absolutely great! I really enjoyed meeting all of you.

I woke up so late today, I slept for like 12 hours.

Jamie went to get us a ham and cheese sandwich

After the show I had the same conversation with Jamie that we always have…

We went back down to the lobby because we had some problems accessing our $100 gift that came with our booking, so a CM at the front desk just put $100 credit onto our account

Nice of him. I'm going to have to say I had a $100 gift too.

Then we grabbed our refillable mugs and our arcade card, got some water and played a game of air hockey in the arcade!
Jamie won, but he did have a kid cheering him on and giving him high fives, so that was totally unfair if you ask me.

Totally unfair. Obviously you would have won otherwise.
Where was this child's parents, anyways????

Then we played literally about 8 games of basketball and I won every single one
I used to play netball
Jamie kept going,
“Double or nothing!”
“Triple or nothing!”
“Quadruple or nothing!”

I’m sure he still owes me A LOT for that.

He'll be years paying that off, I'm sure.

We got up at 9:30am today.

Jamie loves doing this, which I find so funny because we have a bunch of these farms animals right by our house, but sure, we’ll fly across the Atlantic to pet them

I found the sea turtle nest display interesting.

That is interesting.

Nice thing about a sloth, if he tries to get handsy, you can dodge easily. You'll have plenty of time.

We shared the beef gyro and the chicken skewer.
I would happily eat that entire beef gyro to myself though

Both look pretty good. Much better than that cornmeal dog.

On the bus ride there we were talking to a guy form Salt Lake City Utah who told us all about his city and his guns
It’s so strange to us Brits who aren’t allowed guns!

Strange to us Canadians, too.

When we got to the front the cast member asked how old they were and they were like,
“7, 7, 8 and 10.”
LOL.
That tiny little child was definitely not 7. I would guess 4.
The cast member let them ride anyway, I guess they have a rule not to argue these things or something.

Disney... encouraging delinquent behaviour. Sad.

I got 189,800, but the best in car said 179,000…
I WAS ROBBED.

I learned on my Keys to the Kingdom tour the other day that, because Walt had passed away when the Magic Kingdom opened, Roy asked for Mickey to be stood up at the podium with him because he wanted the next best thing after Walt

If only they'd known about the cancer causing cigarettes back in the day.
Such a waste.

Then we went to see Voyage of the Little Mermaid!
I think this was the first time Jamie and I had seen this together.

You guys have seen/done so much that it always takes me by surprise when I've done something you haven't.

This show was not very impressive

Jamie got the ribs and chicken and I got the baked potato.

Unfortunately it started POURING rain, it was thundering so hard, and I’m sure the Carthay Circle building opposite us got struck by lightning

They actually lived in England for 6 years, and Don really missed it so he loved talking to us about England.

We had SO much fun talking to Don and Kim.
Fantasmic got cancelled because of the rain and we didn’t have another chance to see it before we went home in a couple of days, but I wasn’t even mad at all because we had such a great evening!

We sat there for like 3 hours, they bought us a round of beers, then we bought a round, then they bought another round, and we just chatted and drank all evening in the shelter from the rain!!
And we closed out the park!

I absolutely love the chicken pot pie they do here.

But this I did not know.

It was very quiet inside so we got a nice window table upstairs.

Jamie got a greek yoghurt as his dessert, which he obviously regretted because he took a big bite out of my chocolate cake before I got the chance to photograph it

This was turning into a patriotic morning (for a country we do not belong to) because we decided to see the Hall of Presidents, since it was right next door, and it would be changing soon!

I've done that. It's still interesting, despite the fact it's a foreign country. I like watching the animatronics anyways. They're all quite good.

This is one of only two of these presidential seals, the other one being in the White House!

Really! I didn't know that either.

Then we went up to the Frontierland station to ride the Railroad!
This is another thing we haven’t done before!

And once again, I'm surprised.

Up here you can hear Morse code, which I believe is the Disneyland opening day speech!

So that's what it is. We heard it in Disneyland and weren't sure what it was.

Next we went to ride the PeopleMover

Then we rode Space Mountain!
We were on the left track for the first time this trip!
I think I prefer it, it feels smoother to me.
I was in the front, and from the photo you can see that I clearly enjoyed myself.

Wheeee!!!!

We headed straight for World Showcase, and moseyed around hoping to do the American Adventure attraction – another first time attraction for us!

I've done it....... in 1987. Been a while.

I had one of these as a kid!

I think I remember seeing them... but not sure.

I wanted to buy some incense and a build-your-own zen garden
But I fought the temptation.

Next time don't fight it. You know what you need to help with calming you down to make these decisions?

As we walked over the ground was SOAKED which was weird because it hadn’t rained at all.

I've seen that. (Not that particular one, necessarily... but it might have been.)

Then we saw these guys battling with a burst pipe or something!
They had to lay a trash can over it to try to block it!

We made it to Chefs De France, and as soon as we were seated at our window table it changed from being a beautiful evening to pouring rain!
Florida is so unpredictable!

We shared the lobster bisque as an appetiser, and it was really delicious!

Like, if you’re 24 years old, you’ve lived through 1/10th of American history…!

And yet.... my country is about the same.

Interestingly, even with the food and wine crowds, no one had got 232 today, so Jamie was still the top design of the day with his 230!

He's so proud.

As I was exiting the Test Track car I gave the carrier bag to Jamie, and no later than when we were walking through the Test Track showroom, he was swinging the bag back and forth…
He SWUNG the bag forward…
And LET GO OF THE BAG.
AND THREW IT ACROSS THE ROOM.



It flew up and forward, and crashed onto the ground.
What the actual HECK.

And I knew it had smashed because Jamie was feeling it through all of the wrapping, and he asked,
“Is it supposed to have a handle?”

Yes dear, the handle was included in the price.

When you buy yourself a present, and give it to Jamie to carry for 30 seconds.

What was he thinking????

We went into Sephora, and a member of staff called Brittany who was stood at the front of the store recognised me from the DIS!

No way! That's so cool.

Then we went to UniQlo and Jamie bought three t-shirts!

This is a bit out of character for him isn't it?

Then we went to Goofy’s Candy Company to use up most of our last dining credits!
We got fudge,

I stopped reading right there.

Now eat it all at one sitting!

We unwrapped the Splash Mountain mug…
Jamie looked VERY guilty…

Hi Katie,
Funny story....
So I’m sitting here yesterday afternoon (Australia time) trying to kill time before Free Dining and Room Only discounts the for the Fall dropped. I thought sure- I’ll just read this trip report to kill some time as it looks interesting- good plan!
Long story short, by the time I was through reading and by the time discounts dropped, my months of calculations and carefully planning for values and moderates flew out the window and we’ve are now booked at AKL for part of our trip . Thanks for the descriptions and photos- how could I NOT book a Savanna View Room with a sizeable discount staring me in the face???

Day 22
Wednesday 21st September 2016
Part 1 – Goodbye Magic Kingdom!


IT’S TIME TO GO HOME.


Commemorative pin of the year:

We got up at 9:30am, finished packing, and said goodbye to our room!

We checked out, left our bags with bell services, and got the bus to Magic Kingdom!
Jamie wore one of his new t-shirts

Last visit to Magic Kingdom

As we walked in we were met by the Dapper Dans again!

What is this song in the video below?!
I like it.

We moseyed down Main Street and I showed Jamie some of the windows that I’d learned about on my Keys to the Kingdom tour the other day!

Even though we had a lunch ADR (you’ll never guess where..!!), we were strolling slowly down Main Street because I wanted to catch the 12:00pm trolley show.

I got to meet Christopher Weaver, who is the Mayor of Main Street USA!
I’ve only ever seen him doing the Welcome Show, I’ve never seen him up close, so this was quite the accomplishment for me.

He asked me where I’m from and I told him Sheffield in the UK, and he knew my town!
He knew that we are a big producer of steel.
I was so impressed by that.

Sadly since I met him, Mr. Weaver has passed away
I’m so thrilled I got the opportunity to meet him, and he really did put a big smile on my face
As I’m sure he did to many guests every single day.

Then we caught the Trolley Show, yay!
The pretty blonde girl in the photo below said she liked my shorts, and that I looked cute!
No you look cute, lady.

Watching this show, coupled with it being our last day made me tear up a bit behind my sunglasses
I didn’t want the cute lady to see me ugly cry, so I swallowed it back and enjoyed my favourite show

After the trolley show we headed over to Be Our Guest for lunch!
On the way Jamie got this nice picture of me!
I think the castle in the background looks almost like a painting!
It’s beautiful!

The line at Be Our Guest was huge and our reservation wasn’t for another 20 minutes, so we hopped on Journey of The Little Mermaid real quick!

IT IS NOT SLIME.
IT IS MUCUS.

After the Little Mermaid the line at Be Our Guest had disappeared, so we walked straight in!
Jamie ate all of his own sandwich, AND half of mine

And of course we had a Master’s cupcake.

A fantastic choice for a last Disney meal, I must say!

When we left the ride, I spotted the hidden Oswald in the ground!!

This is really tricky to find, I was impressed with myself for spotting it!

Then we went over to our last ride of the trip.
We had a fastpass for Splash Mountain!

Most of the tarps were now down at the Haunted Mansion YAY.

We arrived at Splash at around 1:15pm!

We wanted to stay as dry as possible for our flight later so we hoped to avoid the front row.
Obviously we were directed to the front of a log
IT’S FINE though because we asked for a different row and were put in the back.
So that’s good right?
WRONG.
In the first part where you go around the main drop, we had SO much water shot at us from places I’ve never seen it come from before!
And we got it TWICE from the usual spray as you go up into the hut!
UGH!
We probably would’ve been drier sat in the front

We did a screamer face for the photo, because I needed to hold my ears on my head

After the ride we went into the shop where I got two boxes of peppermints with snack credits, and I went to buy a new mug after Jamie smashed mine all over the floor yesterday

Our cashier was called Tony and he was really friendly.
We were just generally chatting to him about everything while he was wrapping it up, and I told him that this was the second one of these mugs we’re buying in two days because our other one got smashed.
He was like “OH you got it home and it was smashed?”
I didn’t want to seem like I was trying to blame them in the store or anything so I told him “OH NO, he swung the bag around and dropped it and it smashed on the floor, LOL”
And even with an explanation that this was 100% our fault, Tony then said,
“Oh, well, this one’s on us!!”



I said that I was happy to pay for it since it was our fault, but Tony gave me a funny look and said
“You can’t buy the same mug twice!!”
As if I was the craziest person ever

I know Disney has a good reputation for replacing broken things, but even after outright telling him that we threw it in the air and smashed it, he still replaced it for us
It was such a magical moment for me as we were about to leave Walt Disney World

Thank you Tony!
You made my day!

We slowly strolled up Main Street and I took in the great atmosphere.
At this point every year I just want to run off and hide in the Magic Kingdom somewhere!
Don’t make me go home!

We passed the Dapper Dans again, this time singing Let Me Call You Sweetheart, with a guest stood with them singing to his wife/girlfriend

Goodbye Magic Kingdom!
You are my true home!

We exited the park and an AKL bus came to pick us up fairly quickly.

We got back to the hotel and we used the last of our arcade credits on some basketball.
Jamie won today, but he didn’t beat my previous high scores so technically I’m still the winner

Then we went to The Mara and used our last few snack credits on some snacks and water for the ride to the airport.
I got some more Minnie’s Bake Shop cookies and uncrustables.
We also got a Mickey’s Premium bar which we shared outside.

It’s just a standard ice cream bar, but it’s Mickey shaped, and everything tastes better when it’s Mickey shaped.

After our ice cream, we both used the bathroom, then we picked up our bags from bell services.
They left one of our small (but very important) bags behind!
Thankfully we were on the ball and noticed, but that could have been quite catastrophic!

Then we sat out front and waited for our bus

At 3:35pm our bus arrived.
We didn’t even get a Magical Express, which made it an EXTRA tragical express

Part 2 – Goodbye Walt Disney World!


Goodbye Animal Kingdom Lodge!
It’s been swell!

We sat near the back of the bus and I ate my uncrustables.

Ususally I cry on the bus back to the airport but I didn’t today.
I was still sad to be leaving, but I usually feel like there’s so much more fun to be had
Leaving today I felt very accomplished and satisfied after 3 weeks at Disney!
The Diaper Dans also helped I think.

And I also enjoyed the Tumble Monkey interview

Jamie claimed my Dumbo pillow pet as his own.
This was when I tried to take him back.

After the mug incident I don’t know if I should’ve trusted him not to launch it out the window or something

At one point he said,
“His nose is weird though. Is this what Dumbo’s nose looks like?”
LOL yes dear, he is an elephant.


We stopped off at Art of Animation to pick up guests, and I remembered how much fun we had here while we were resort hopping last year

Soon the dreaded “Now’s the time to say goodbyeee” song came on and I had to plug my ears with my fingers.
That song makes me cry.
I managed to block it out though

Soon we arrived at Orlando International Airport!
We dragged our luggage from terminal B to terminal A and dropped it off at the Virgin Atlantic desk.

Then we went to the Disney store, because clearly I hadn’t had enough Disney

Then we went in the Universal store, and Jamie finally admitted that the t-shirt I always point out to him IS nice.
He also liked a Captain America t-shirt, so I bought both of those for him

Then we went through security and got the fake-orail over to gate 85.

We did have one last treat that we were looking forward to, and that was flying in Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class cabin for the very first time!
We had found an incredible deal which meant we could upgrade from our usual Premium Economy cabin to Upper Class for next to nothing.
I believe Lu also took advantage of this deal and flew Upper Class both ways!
Trust me, it was a steal!
So we got to sit in the Delta Sky Club lounge before our flight!

We were sat in big comfy seats like these!

There was food and an open bar available in the lounge too.
I didn’t get any alcohol because I didn’t want to drink too much prior to our flight, but I did get some delicious tomato and basil soup, and a bread roll with butter and cheese!

I also had some pasta salad from the lovely salad bar!

And I ALSO ate some of my Minnie’s Bake Shop cookies!

At 7:05pm we left the lounge to board our 7:55pm flight, however we were delayed for another 30 mintues.
But it didn’t feel like too long before we were boarding and finding our seats.

I was in the VERY FRONT of the plane!
Like, the front left orange seat in the picture below was my seat, and the one behind was Jamie's!
Here is me on my first upper class flight!
Champagne on arrival, of course!

We each had our own little compartments, with seats that folded down into beds!
It was such a magical end to the trip!

There was a bar in our cabin that served food, drinks and alcohol all through the flight.
And here is the fancy menu you order your main meals from!

I put on Zootopia straight away to distract me from take off.
Shortly after take off we were given SLEEPSUITS which were nice cosy onesies to change into!
Amazing.

I had some vegetable crisps and a coffee…
On top of my Dumbo pillow pet

Then our first meals were brought out.

I had some white wine, and the apple salad to start:

Then I had the beef:

And opera cake:

This was not like plane food at all, the beef was SO nice!

Then I watched some films and had a little nap.

Much later on, shortly before we were due to land, we were brought breakfast which was impressive!
Jamie and I ordered basically everything
Full English each, cereal, fruit, muffins, juice, coffee, etc
We also sat together to eat, which was adorable

We arrived back in the UK at around 9am!




So THAT’S IT!
I finally finished this epically long trip report!

I really hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed reliving it and writing it.

You might be surprised to hear that Jamie and I went through the whole of 2017 without a trip to Florida!
Errrm, this is not OK!
When we realised we would not be able to fit in a trip that year, we had to book a 2018 trip ASAP!

And when better than January 2018!
We recently spent two weeks at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge!
