WASHINGTON — The arrest of actor Jonathan Majors has upended the Army’s newly launched advertising campaign that was aimed at reviving the service’s struggling recruiting numbers.
Majors, who authorities said was arrested Saturday in New York on charges of strangulation, assault and harassment, was the narrator of two ads at the heart of a broader media campaign that kicked off at the start of the NCAA’s March Madness college basketball tournament.
Army leaders were hopeful that the popularity of the star of the recently released “Creed III” and “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania,” would help them reach the youth audience.

It might get interesting since Marvel Entertainment wants him to continue the MCU franchise. Has shades of Ezra Miller's issues.

Don't know of him, but think that is a risk any company takes when they hire some actor/actress/sports personality to do ads for them. Ad campaign goes up in smoke if they end up in trouble with the law and/or say/do things the company finds offensive.

He's been doing a lot of work the past couple of years, including "He Who Remains" in Loki and his alternate-universe doppleganger Kang the Conqueror in Quantumania. Also starring roles in Creed III and Devotion.

As for ads that went away quickly, there's nothing quite like someone shilling for alcoholic beverages, then going into alcohol rehab. Mark Harmon used to do ads for Coors but those got shelved after he went into rehab. Or Bruce Willis doing Seagram's wine cooler ads only to later declare that he had an alcohol problem.

It's such a shame. He was really good in Ant-Man! Anotehr talented person with everything to lose making poor decisions. 😞

Found guilty on two misdemeanor charges.

But the verdict, which arrived after more than five hours of deliberation over three days, thwarted Mr. Majors’s hopes of salvaging his career by proving his innocence in the March altercation. His future in the film industry, already under threat, is now unclear, and he could face just under a year in jail. His sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 6.

ABC News just said that Disney (their parent company) will no longer be going forward with him.

Not sure what it means for Kang, too bad because he was good.

After the release of those recordings and clips he was going to be dropped regardless of the verdict. Now it just makes the messaging easier since they can reference the conviction.

Some of those recordings were appalling.

It was hard coming to grips with Victor Timely in Loki, as Jonathan Majors portrayed him well as an empathetic figure.

He was definitely really good in Loki. He's a good actor, but he messed up and he has to face the consequences. I expect that Disney will either recast or pivot. I appreciate that they did wait for the trial and outcome before taking action, which is fair.

I think the way that Loki Season 2 ended leaves it clear that they don’t need the actor anymore…

Well, they still have an upcoming movie called Avengers: Kang Dynasty. They can always change it, but right now the character is still in play. It's easily dealt with though because he has numerous alternate versions of himself and we know that not all alters are idnetical, i.e. Spider-Man, so there is no real issue with it. Or, you know, it's just a recast - it happens.

Female Loki Sylvie another example.

Sounds like he took his role in the campaign a little too serious.....

They no longer have this movie.

Breaking news yesterday was that after firing Majors, they have also renamed the movie as a placeholder to Avengers 5. Kang Dynasty is now gone from the title.

No jail time. He's required to attend 52 weeks of couseling and must stay out of trouble, but was granded a conditional discharge.

In court Monday, Judge Michael Gaffey sentenced Majors to conditional discharge after noting that both sides in the case agreed the charges did not warrant jail time, given the actor was a first time offender with no prior criminal record.
He said Majors must complete a 52-week, in-person batterer’s intervention program in Los Angeles, where the actor lives. He also has to continue with the mental health therapy his lawyers say he’s been participating in. Majors faces a year in jail if found in violation of the terms, which also included a no contact order with his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.
