War fears could mean bargains on U.S. flights
Airlines trying to boost ticket sales and lure skittish travelers back into the air are offering sales earlier than the normal summer tourist season, writes Tom Ranstack in The Washington Times. "There are some great bargains out there," says Terri Shank, spokeswoman for travel Web site Orbitz. "The people who are not afraid to fly are taking advantage of these bargains." But travelers should act quickly if they want snag one those cheap tickets. With demand falling in the wake of the Iraq war, a number of airlines have announced flight cuts that are scheduled to go into effect this week. That's expected to help nudge airfares higher, making bargains harder to find.
