Once you’re outside of Disney Springs and Bonnet Creek, the shuttles are pretty scarce. Still can be a good option if you’re go-with-the-flow types who don’t have jam-packed days planned or don’t plan to return for midday rests/swims.
I think an offsite hotel with limited shuttle can be a good option when paired with Uber/Lyft. If you can make the shuttle work one way (either to or from the park), the money saved from the lower room cost can more than offset the cost of a $15 Uber the other way.
We stayed at a little place off 192 behind cheap souvenir shops. The shuttle was very limited, but the price was good and included breakfast. Plus, we were easily able to grab a couple extra pieces of fruit for snacks later. By eliminating some of the food costs associated with a theme park trip, the price was an even better bargain.
