No change for points per night...

Curious as to why the points per night are the same as if the resorts had not closed. The points per night show availability from tomorrow on, through the DVC website.

If they are expecting a decline in reservations on the DVC side, why would they not decrease the cost per night?
What is the point in showing availability if the resorts are closed??

A change to lower points overall cannot happen. The total points for the year need to equal what it would take to fill the rooms room for the year. If you lower them for any season such as the upcoming summer season, DVC would have to raise the points needed by an equal amount in another season. Moreover, any allowed reallocation of points can occur only once per year when they issue the point charts for the applicable year.

In other words, both under the terms of POS documents and applicable law, it would be illegal for DVC to just lower the points needed per night right now.

Addressing only the quoted snippet: This is an unprecedented event, right? There is no reason their software team should have seen this coming or spent resources preparing for it. Thus, there is likely no easy way to show the inventory as blocked/unavailable artificially during this unexpected closure.

Perhaps they could have actually booked a ton of reservations as a "holding measure" (to show as "not-available") but I'm guessing they are limited to booking these using the developer held credits. That is, there are likely "checks and balances" in place to protect the owners (thus limit the developer/manager). These measures are great in everyday-ops ... but now have odd consequence in the extraordinary times.
