ANAHEIM, Feb. 21 - Fire officials say a mechanical problem is forcing the removal of passengers from Disneyland's Monorail in Anaheim.

There are no reports of injuries.

Anaheim Fire spokeswoman Maria Sabol says a mechanical problem brought the Monorail to a stop sometime after 2:30 pm.

Sabol says firefighters are using rescue ladders to remove about 75 people who are aboard the Monorail. They are being brought down one at a time. Sabol says the train has come to a stop about 25 feet off the ground.

Those Monorails are Ancient Maybe they'll get new ones now.

Isn't there a monorail rescue "tractor" to drag the train back to the nearest station? It's hard to imagine a mechanical problem severe enough to actually immobilize the monorail.

That's what I've herd too. I guess either it wasn't able to move at all, or it was easier to lower them out of the trains by ladder.

I don't know about the tractor, but when I rode in the front of the monorail last month, we were talking to the driver, and she said that they've had to do that at WDW too :)

I love to read the Bob Gurr Chronicles on Laughingplace.com Here's the one about themonorail tractor:Link to Bob Gurr Article

The way it reads, it seems that "old fashioned" way of "rescuing" the monorail has been replaced. I don't read anywhere in the article where it mentions by what. I guess it's a ladder!
