Post Cruise Survey - Annual Earnings and Net Worth

Anyone else get the demographics question with a post cruise survey requesting annual earnings and net worth? Quite frankly I always decline to answer but I was floored that they were asking for you to indicate a net worth which included an explanation of how to calculate it. Anyone else get this? I was wondering why on earth does Disney need that info. My husband and I were joking that Disney can gauge how screwed they are when a recession hits.

You were 'floored'? Why? You get that type of net worth question all of the time from various businesses. They all want to know as much about their customers as possible, so they can figure out where the best return on their investment will be. Shouldn't be a shocker at all. If you don't want to provide the information, then don't provide it.

Agree with @Rob1872 that information data collection is on everything from magazine subscriptions to warranties. When they start asking for your medical history then you know it's not just the $$$$.

I feel like I get asked about annual income (gross or net) frequently, but not net worth. I'd probably just ignore that one as I wouldn't want to bother trying to think through all of our assets and liabilities to get to a number.

They usually don't have a negative number on the form large enough to capture how far in the hole I am for net worth. :)

That's weird to me. Surveys ask about income all the time but I don't think I've ever been asked about net worth. I'm not sure if I'd answer or not. I could ballpark it fairly quickly if I wanted to.

When I used to do online surveys with e-rewards, net worth was on many of the surveys. Not as many as annual income, but it wasn't a rare question. It doesn't surprise me that Disney would ask.

Maybe they wanted to know just how high of a cruise fare you can afford!

I have been asked many, many times for annual income. Never for net worth! I wonder how many people truly know what their net worth is. I sure don’t. I would have to just give an educated guess.

I know what our Net worth is because I want to retire one day :) The net worth question has come up before for us. Sometimes I answer it sometimes I don't, depends on whose asking.

Many budgeting tools track you net worth for you. I know mine. I mean it's not accurate to the penny, but ball park correct.

That being said, I am not telling that to Disney though. I mean what do I get for telling them that? LoL

I think the next recession will hit Disney hard. There should be some great deals for those of us not up to our eyeballs in debt.

Why do you think it will hit DIsney hard? I think their movie, TV, and streaming businesses will hold up quite well during the next downtown. The Parks and Cruises are not the main profit generators for the company.

My husband manages all the stocks, bonds and investment accounts. He knows what our net worth is. I know ballpark figures. With the stock market like it is, our net worth changes everyday :)

Net worth includes assets/investments/savings that can be tapped for luxuries like cruises. Annual income is generally used for living expenses.

As others have said, our net worth is private and Disney doesn't need to know.

We were asked about annual income (no way will I share that with them) but not net worth, LOL. I wonder if people are actually willing to answer those questions.

Possibly. I've been asked this many times in a variety of surveys and usually answer (typically there are very broad range categories). It's more common to ask income but some do ask for net worth. I don't see it as any more or less intrusive than annual income questions. It's all about profiling who does what.
