Priceline Express Deals

For those that booked a Disney Resort through HW: I received an email from HW today. Our reservation was for 3/27-3/29 . Looks like I will receive a refund. Here is an excerpt from the email:

As you may be aware, domestic travel in certain areas has now been impacted due to restrictions related to COVID-19. We have been notified by the hotel, where you were scheduled to stay, that they have been closed and are not accepting guests for your travel dates. Unfortunately, this means you will no longer be able to utilize the reservation.

As such, no action is required on your part as we have taken the following steps on your behalf:
  • Your reservation has been cancelled
  • Hotwire has issued a refund for the booking. Hotwire processes refunds in 1-2 business days back to the original card used for the booking. It then typically takes a bank or credit card company 5-7 business days to return these funds to your account.

I got the same one for April 1-4. Priceline has cancelled my universal hotel with no notice to me prior to April 1, but has not cancelled Yacht club.

I checked our reservation (May 4th) and while I do not have the cancellation button, at the end of the itinerary and receipt page it says - "Note: hotel cancellation and refund policies may change closer to your check-in date. Updates will be communicated here as soon as they become available. "

Guess everyone is hoping (against hope and common sense ;)) that we can travel by May.

I think some parks will be open in May with limited attractions and virtual ques everywhere.

I asked Priceline to cancel my trip for 6/28 to 7/3 yesterday morning through the online chat. We'll see how long it takes to happen, if at all. ;)

I just don't like having $2100 tied up in a vacation I may never take. I did make ressies for POR for the same week and that's only tying up $500 for two rooms and it's way easier to just go online to cancel those.

I don't think I will ever book something for this many nights again with HW or PL, just too much to deal with.

I ended up with two different HW reservations at POFQ 3/27 - 3/29 and 3/29 - 4/2.

I got the email from HW that they cancelled the res that starts the 29th, but not the one that starts the 27th. I'll keep an eye out and if I don't hear from them I'll contact them.

I've been keeping an eye on HW deals. Saw AKL in early June for ~$259. In the days before July 4, I saw AKL Jambo or Kadani for ~$350 for a studio savannah view.

44 days out, my PL summary "view itinerary" button now says "view itinerary/cancel". When I click on it I don't see where to actually cancel but at least they are getting ready for the May cancellations 🙄

I'm still waiting to for them to cancel my June 28th trip. ;)

I see that too now. Have you figured out how to cancel? haha

It's just PL throwing us a bone.

I don’t know when to rebook for. At this rate, I don’t think my May trip is happening, but I haven’t seen any Disney blind bookings for the summer dates I’ve looked at. Once I factor in resort fees, even the DS hotels aren’t as cheap as the deal I grabbed for ASMu back in January. I’ll keep an eye out, but it’s depressing to know my trip will be hotter, as well as more crowded and more expensive. Maybe I should look to the fall, but I hate to pull DD from school. Wish I had some idea of what the crowds were going to do. I don’t think traditional patterns are likely to hold, as everything has been scrambled.

Obviously it's hard to forecast, but with the economic meltdown and lingering travel anxiety, I really don't see how summer will be crowded (if it's open). Or expensive. Prices will drop as they realize their rooms aren't as valuable as they were last month.

I managed to cancel my priceline express booking at dolphin for mid April. I had been checking my booking from my phone and it hadn't changed. I selected to open in desktop instead of mobile on my phone and spotted it had a cancel for refund due coronavirus button. Clicked on and got email straight away explaining I would get a full refund only due to coronavirus as this type of booking would not normally get a refund. So pretty happy with priceline and dolphin resort

I just found this on the Agoda (PL) vendor support site (italics/bold etc are theirs)-

Following the latest official travel advice about the Coronavirus, it is unlikely that customers can travel to, from and stay at their accommodations in areas affected around the world. Aside from areas affected by the outbreak, travel bans announced by the government of specific countries or areas are also impacting guests traveling from all around the world.
This event is “force majeure” and as such Agoda reserves the right to allow the customer to cancel without penalty, as stated in our Accommodation Property Participation Agreement (APPA). Agoda will waive ALL charges & commission for bookings cancelled due to force majeure.

Agoda actually knocked me back for refund on 2 night Vegas saying the casino wouldnt let them refund. I contacted casino today and say they would be OK with refund. I've forward the conversation onto agoda to see if they will refund

They can just call the hotel and the hotel will authorize the cancellation with no penalty. But it sounds like it was someone who doe not know what the company is doing.

Finally after a bunch of online chats got PL to cancel my June 28th Swan trip. Anyone know how long before it drops off MDE?
