Pull out sofas at DVC/Kidani

I read on a thread or two here that some of the pull-out sofas are really hard and strenuous. Some have even said Mousekeeping will not even pull them out for you-- that it's on you.

My family has a 2 bedroom villa booked for 4 adults 2 kids for January 17-22 2014. We will have daily Mousekeeping. We will need the sofa bed.

Has anyone had trouble with the sofa beds? Can we expect them to pull out the bed if we leave a note, etc? What has been other's experience?

also, are they mostly comfortable? I may end up being the one using it! :)

We haven't stayed at AKV yet, but we've used the sofabeds at OKW and Aulani, and I believe they are the same as Kidani's. They are harder to pull out than traditional sofabeds, but they are certainly manageable. I am able to pull them out by myself, and I am pretty wimpy! They are also far more comfortable! We've never asked mousekeeping to help, so I'm not sure if they do or not. Unless you really need the sofabed put away, I'd just put a note on it asking mousekeeping to leave it open. We've done that at other hotels (haven't at Disney because we don't get daily mousekeeping).

We just got back from staying in a 2 bd in Kidani in Sept. We used both the pull out couch and pull out chair. We pulled them out ourself, and when housekeeping came they never made either back into a couch or chair for us, just made the "beds" up.

I never tried the chair, but the couch was really bad. We made the kids sleep on it, and they complained the whole time. I only ever set on it pulled out once to watch a movie, and it was very hard and uncomfortable.

The real beds were fine though. Personally, if I was only one person sleeping on the pull out couch, I'd just leave it made up as a couch, throw a sheet over it, and sleep that way. Or take an egg crate foam topper or something.

The good news, the rest of the villa was great, and we really enjoyed the hotel as well.

On a separate note, the one thing we forgot to bring was Tupperware containers. The villa comes with pots and pans and stuff, but very limited, like only one of each, and no plastic containers at all. We ended up using zip lock bags we brought for left overs and stuff, but there were a few times I would have loved some large plastic bowels and a few good size plastic containers. We are so use to those being provided when we travel, I just didn't think about them not being. And we took a set of plastic cups for the kids which I'm glad we did as the only glasses they provided were the very heavy real glass type, not really appropriate for kids to use.

This is an Excellent recommendation! I never would have thought of Gladware containers, etc. I sincerely doubt we will be doing any cooking at all while are there. Our schedule is too packed over 4 days 5 nights and we have the DDP, Deluxe Level right now (but likely reducing to Standard)

I think we will hire the Garden Grocer or the WeGoShop though for snack food, and those all important Adult Beverages!

Thank you so much for making the point about the glassware. We will have my 6 year old niece with me. I think i might throw a cup in our bags for her. LOL.. never thought I would be packing containers and cups, but what a good idea, thanks!

We hired a grocery service as well, and it was great. I'll have to go back and see which we used. We kept changing our minds, and now I can't remember who we finally decided on, but they were great.

We weren't planning on really cooking a lot either, but we cut up a melon and a water melon for snacks, and we made rotel one night. The kids fell in love with TOT, so we bought the movie and had a movie night. Lots of snack food and a shortage of containers. We did popcorn, Cheetos, chips and salsa, fruit, nuts, candy, and corn dogs while they watched the movie. The kids loved it. It just seemed like we kept finding stuff we needed containers for, leftover food or snacks that really needed to be sealed up to keep from going bad, etc.

They are harder to pull out than traditional sofabeds, a couple of times, I had my grandson help by holding on one end while I pulled the bed out by the handle.

As for comfort, they are what they are..... sofa beds with very thin mattresses. I'm a senior citizen, and I survived six nights. :)
