We will be driving down from Central PA the last week of February and would like suggestions for a campground to stay over night in the Jacksonville FL area? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

We leave from Harrisburg, there is a nice KOA, St. Mary's/North Jacksonville at Exit one in GA right on the state line. It is a long day of driving from here, but only puts you a couple hours from the Fort. There is also Green Acres in South Carolina, which puts you closer to a 50/50 split mileage wise.

Thanks, we will be leaving a little north of Harrisburg so your information is very helpful to us. Thanks for your recommendations!

We also stay at Ft Chiswell on the way home, very nice campground in Southern VA. If you are going down the 81/77/26/4 route or coming back that way.

Pecan Park RV Resort is just off exit 366 off I95 in North JAX. It is the 3rd exit in FL after you cross the GA/FL border. Paved inner roads and most sites are concrete pull-thrus, 50a, Full hookup.

Also Coastal GA RV in Brunswick is a great stopping point, about 30 miles from the FL/GA border. Exit 29 off I-95. Like Pecan Park, paved inner roads, concrete pull-thru sites (50A - Full)

We have stayed at the KOA as well. It is a nice place. Not too crowded and has easy off / on with everything you need for a one night stay. Fuel and Dunkin Donuts lol.

@PaHunter ,
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 on both of those campgrounds. We used to drive straight thru when traveling to the Fort. We decided to start breaking the trip into 2 days down and back with an overnight stay at Lake Louisa before traveling to the Fort the next morning.
We stayed at the St Mary's/ North Jacksonville KOA on the way down. Easy off / easy on to the highway as well as a Pilot with RV pumps right beside the campground. A campground host met us when we pulled in around 11:00pm and escorted us to our site. Nice level pull through site. Did not unhitch.

We also stayed at the Ft Chiswell RV Park on the way home. There is a Flying J as you pull off the highway with RV friendly pumps. Pull through the pumps out the back entrance of the Flying J. Turn left and about a mile down the road you will be at the Ft Chiswell RV park. Again, we had a pull through site that was level enough that we did not have to unhitch. This will probably be our go to plans on future trips to the Fort.
