The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

Dispite the rain all day Saturday. Enjoyed a great weekend camping with @Teamubr and friends for yet another mini Midwest Dismeet

Another great weekend with Disney friends. Thanks for coming down Joe (and Glenda). It's too bad Barb and Bill couldn't make it , but you got to meet June and Perry before next year's DIS Meet at the Fort.

Saturday was VERY wet thanks to TS Olga going right over the campground, but today was nice. Here are a few pics from this morning.

Foggy morning- Joe and Glenda (Tigger92662), Me, our friends and GSP alum June and Perry.

Nice little pond at the end of our row.

Doing some camping in Peoria Il. And Norfolk Va in July, anyone around those areas that can give a recommendation on good campgrounds. I can give the general area of where we want to be in. Thanks

Vince,

I haven't camped around Peoria, but I was just looking at some places. I'm only about 3 hours from there. Let me know when you are looking.

J, our dates will be checking in July 16 - 20. It’s for a book convention at at the Par a Dice hotel and casino. I found a campground close by, Millpoint rv park. Pics on the website nice and is only 44.00 per night any site.

Still looking for any recommendations on Norfolk Va. if anyone has camped in that area before. Looking for something close to Wareside dr.

I was looking at Millpoint. It does look fairly nice and close to Peoria. There is actually quite a bit on the east side of the river too.

If you are game, we can get a little Midwest meet together. Bjschil and Tigger92662 are pretty close too.

We can celebrate a birthday too. Mine is July 18th.

BTW, happy birthday. Enjoy the final year of your 40s.

Hey all - I'm curious...I just saw the 'Meadows Area' reservation option mentioned in another thread. I missed this. When did it pop up? It wasn't there when I was looking at reservations for August.

We'd be up for that. That's about 2 1/2 hours away :thumbsup2

Well the Nationals won the World Series last night. They were one of the teams I saw play during spring training on my vacation to Florida this past March (stayed at Jetty Park, went to 3 games, MK, and KSC). They played the Mets (at the Mets stadium in Port St. Lucie IIRC) so I guess that's cool.

On a different note, I had planned to go camping starting today through Sunday but cancelled a few days ago. I was just going to go out to my local CoE campground on the river and use my canvas wall tent and cot. Watch some college football outside (off weekend for Bama), take some walks, admire the colors of the leaves, have a campfire. But this rain we got yesterday and this morning is going to clear out and the night temps behind it are forecasted down to 32F (last week the lows for this weekend were in low 40s so I was still game but not freezing). The fun stops at about 40F for me in a tent. I had sealed the seams on my canvas tent two weeks ago and reapplied some water-proofing in preparation but I'll have to look for another opportunity, maybe in the spring, to use it. Our CoE campground closes end of November and doesn't reopen till March.

I thought it was a very good WS

That looks great, is that a mesh or solid cover? Our cover comes in 2 weeks, curious to see how they fasten it to the pavers...
Ours is mesh. It is one of the walk on type, although it feels like walking on a trampoline. I have several friends/family that have this type. They do well down here. One friend has pavers around his pool. They drilled the anchors right into his. It holds fine (had his for 5 5+ years).

You can keep the snow up your way. It is pretty the first time. Too bad we can't have snow and 70 degrees.
