Tipsy is as Tipsy Does - A February '17 Dining Adventure - Complete 8/15

We were excited to try and see it, but some sweet little girl who had dreams of extra magic hours at MGM, vetoed that very quickly. So no RoL for us.

:rotfl:

Speaking of sweet little girl, we ran into Flick on the way in and the Photopass folks got this great picture showing her excitement to meet a new to her character.

Aw so cute!

Her shoes even match Flik!

She promptly named this guy Meatball to go with the one at home, Yeti Spaghetti :-)

Those are great yeti names :thumbsup2

Hi Kari! Just wanted to let you know that we are going back to WDW in November...You were right, we were able to find a cheaper room by being patient. We are staying at ASMo, which I'm not thrilled about, but the price couldn't be beat...8-)

We haven't been yet, but hope to change that in November. I've been hesitant to do it because of the price tag for Casey ($50) as I know there is no chance she eats more than $5 worth of food. But Jason is doing the wine and dine half marathon in November and right now we are planning on doing brunch after that.

This is why we're doing the brunch in September (and maybe again in May!) while our kid is still free! Not sure how long it will be before I'll be willing to fork over that much $$$ for him to eat there again.

To celebrate she requested some quality time in the Rascal Park (aka the boneyard for everyone else) and Jason was kind enough to do his own wilderness exploring and brought his little beauty back for me.

I have absolutely no idea what this is or where he got it from, but it was lemonadey and boozy and I of course was happy!

I'm anticipating our 2 1/2 year old will want to spend quite a bit of time in the Boneyard (I like the name Rascal Park better!) and I've wondered why there isn't a bar inside.

Jason and I shared the Beef and Pork Sausage from the Famous Sausages stand, which is Fried in Curried Corn Batter and served with Green Papaya Slaw and Black-eyed Pea Salad and a Safari Amber to wash it all down with.

Those sausages are good and we also love the ribs there. Pretty good for QS food and the sides are interesting as well. I love it when there's something other than fries!

She promptly named this guy Meatball to go with the one at home, Yeti Spaghetti :-)
Seriously love the names!

From there we had promised Casey she could get her facepainted and she conducted her own selfie modeling shoot afterwards.
Why is face painting so exciting? My girls beg to get them done when we are in Disney.... Why in the world is that?!?

Looks good!

She was quite proud of herself!
This is a Goal for my girls too. Now I just need to find there books from the last trip!

Casey, still clearly in a posing mood, went with Kiama Mama which was Watermelon and Sprite.

And I, not wanting to be outdone by my child, went with the Hightower Rocks which is Casa Dragones Blanco Tequila, Watermelon, Sweet-and-Sour, and Lime Juice.

While a little light on the tequila, the watermelon and tequila combo was great and this was very refreshing. It wasn't as good as my beloved Annapurna Zing, but continued to prove my theory that there is no better place on property for tipsy drinks.
Both Watermelon drinks looks very refreshing...

I am really going to have to try out Nomad's...every drink I see from there looks awesome! Also, Meatball and Yeti Spaghetti? Love it!

I rarely chime in on dining reports as I never feel I really have anything to say, but I've really enjoyed reading yours. Your family seems like so much fun! It makes me feel so much better reading about you guys drinking while having a wonderful time together with your daughter. I was a little nervous that we might get some "looks" if we order a drink or two with our kiddos with us. We sometimes encounter that at restaurants where we live, and I'm seriously talking ordering one drink each for DH and I and the server kinda looks from us to the kids and is like, "Umm... Okaaay?" It makes me feel like I'm breaking some sort of social taboo or something. One time I was actually asked (as the server looks hesitantly from me to my kids and back), "Are you sure you want the Rum Punch? You know it has rum in it, right?" I was like, "Yeah, I kinda figured that out from the name, thanks. And yes, I'm sure I want the drink that I just ordered."

I was really hoping to enjoy our trip with a couple of drinks along the way without feeling like I have to justify to some server/bartender that I'm responsible enough not to get hammered in front of my kids (and for the record, it would take a lot more than one drink anyway lol).

I'm assuming (and hoping) from reading your dining adventures that you haven't encountered anything like this at WDW?

This looks delicious and I would feel so healthy drinking it since it comes with some watermelon.

Yes I am aware that they are in the funguy category with my least favorite food in the world, but they are clearly very different :P I also hate celery but will eat it if its cooked. Clearly all of this makes perfect sense to me.

I'm really in no place to ever criticize what someone will or will not eat, as I have my own weirdnesses, ie, I do not like cake, but get super excited whenever Little Debbie Christmas Tree cakes come out, and onions are gross...unless they are caramelized at a Japanese Steakhouse.

The fig went wonderfully with the duck, but if you've never tried it fig and prosciutto is an even better combo. The sweet and salty together is perfection.

Mmm...that does sound good!

Speaking of sweet little girl, we ran into Flick on the way in and the Photopass folks got this great picture showing her excitement to meet a new to her character.

LOVE this picture! I love Photopass photographers sometimes :-)

Yay for Casey getting all her badges!

Loving Meatball & Yeti Spaghetti.

That Harambe sausage treat looks . . . lovely. Wonderful to know that lady adult foodie experiences may be found in the most surprising of places. :D

Did Casey get a Wilderness Explorer badge for having the best Yeti names ever? :-) She should have!
No, but we should have looked into that :-) She certainly got clever with her names on that one. Much better than her normal owlie (for an owl), birdie (for a bird), rocky for the rock she insisted on bringing home last week, you get the picture :P

'm determined to get that sausage when we go. There's just something about it... perhaps it's because it's like a fancy corn dog :rotfl:
I think fancy corn dog sums it up perfectly and whats better than a corn dog, a fancy one :rotfl:

I'm glad your DR's have put Nomad's on my radar. What better stop for a midday break - especially since we'll have some older family along! I have a feeling it will be appreciated by all... Your drinks look delicious!
I hope you all LOVE it as much as we do. It really is amazing. Great atmosphere, great drinks and all even at great prices.

I adore her face paint, they did a great job and it held up well all day.
It really did hold up better than any others she's ever gotten. Wait till you see the night shots coming up, it is still hanging in there which in the evening looks a tad bit scary

All of these things and so much more have me convinced that Casey is one cool kid :thumbsup2
Well we think so, but we are most definitely a bit biased. :-)

You make the ever so common corn dog look amazingly gourmand
Was it the corndog or my amazing modeling shots, cause I got mad corndog modeling skills :P

I love those names!! I may have to get myself a Yeti Spaghetti too. :)
She was definitely creative on that one. When she named it meatball we couldn't for the life of us figure out where she had pulled that from, but she quickly reminded us of good ole yeti spaghetti waiting for her at home.

Boozy lemonade is the best!
Boozy everything is the best, says I sitting on my deck with a lovely boozy fresca in hand :-)

During our preview Nomad's was about 75% full. But we were able to get a same day ADR for Tiffins. Not sure about now but I hope it stays at the not too crowded stage because it's like a little oasis in AK!!

And that beer is delicious! I had one on our last trip and it was delicious and went well with everything we ate in Tiffins. Coming for a not-really-a-beer-drinker, this is a rarity for me!
Thanks for letting me know. 75% doesn't sound great, but I guess it is better than 100%. I figured the word would get out. That place is just too good.

Jason really liked the beer too. I'm sure I tried it, but I don't remember it. Beer for me = miller lite so basically I'm never a fan of anything stronger than water (as Jason puts it)

Aw so cute!
Her shoes even match Flik!
Thanks. I didn't even notice the shoes matching. They are definitely too of a kind :-)

Hi Kari! Just wanted to let you know that we are going back to WDW in November...You were right, we were able to find a cheaper room by being patient. We are staying at ASMo, which I'm not thrilled about, but the price couldn't be beat...8-)
Woohoo!!!!!!!!! When are you all going????? We are headed down 3-11 November since Jason is doing the half marathon that weekend. We lucked out it was the same week I had veterans day off and Casey had 2 teacher workdays. We're staying at CBR (in a pirate room no less), which I'm not thrilled about either, but we got a military rate then the $75/night gift card offer so there was no way we could pass it up.

This is why we're doing the brunch in September (and maybe again in May!) while our kid is still free! Not sure how long it will be before I'll be willing to fork over that much $$$ for him to eat there again.
I don't blame you at all. Milk the under 3 eating for free for all you can. We got 2 trips in before Casey turned 3 and it was great. Now we're on the other end I feel like we have to try brunch before she is 10 and an "adult" :-)

I'm anticipating our 2 1/2 year old will want to spend quite a bit of time in the Boneyard (I like the name Rascal Park better!) and I've wondered why there isn't a bar inside.
I've been lobbying for a bar for a while yet, but apparently disney has higher priorities :-) Casey fell in love with this place the first time we went and we have to spend at least an hour there each time we go (insert bar comment again here). They have a door that shouts things when kids try to open it and one of those things is "stay out of here you rascal." She thought this was the funniest thing she'd ever heard and its since been known as the rascal park.

Those sausages are good and we also love the ribs there. Pretty good for QS food and the sides are interesting as well. I love it when there's something other than fries!
Definitely great for quick service. We didn't want to wait in 2 lines so passed on the ribs, but we'll have to give them a go another time.

Seriously love the names!
She's quite the naming aficionado!

Why is face painting so exciting? My girls beg to get them done when we are in Disney.... Why in the world is that?!?
I have no idea as walking around hot, sweaty disney world surrounded by people all day with make-up caked on your face does not sound like fun to me. But this is of course why our girls would get along so well :-)

This is a Goal for my girls too. Now I just need to find there books from the last trip!
It took us a few trips, but it was worth it. Which they had something like this in Epcot too. Casey loves it!

I am really going to have to try out Nomad's...every drink I see from there looks awesome! Also, Meatball and Yeti Spaghetti? Love it!
You most definitely need to stop by. Even the kiddo should like some of the NA drinks they have.

I rarely chime in on dining reports as I never feel I really have anything to say, but I've really enjoyed reading yours. Your family seems like so much fun! I was like, "Yeah, I kinda figured that out from the name, thanks. And yes, I'm sure I want the drink that I just ordered."
Thanks for chiming away, I'm so glad to hear you are enjoying it. I certainly enjoy eating and drinking it all :drinking1

Speaking of drinking, how crazy that you get looks for ordering drinks. I've never heard of such a thing or more likely I'm just oblivious because I've already had a few drinks :-) Seriously though, my enjoying my vacation is just as important as my daughter enjoying it and I'm 110% confident we both enjoy it more when Mama can have a few adult libations.

was really hoping to enjoy our trip with a couple of drinks along the way without feeling like I have to justify to some server/bartender that I'm responsible enough not to get hammered in front of my kids (and for the record, it would take a lot more than one drink anyway lol).

I'm assuming (and hoping) from reading your dining adventures that you haven't encountered anything like this at WDW?
Like I said, I may be clueless, but I have never once felt like anyone in Disney or otherwise was judging me for drinking with my kid there. Just the opposite I think servers actually like it since they end up with more of a tip since alcohol = money. While it may often seem like we are getting hammered we are seasoned drinkers who would never get hammered around our kid (or at all for that matter since its been at least 10 years since I could handle that). A few tipsy drinks in moderation to help everyone relax is a good thing and you should own it!

Awe too cute.
Thanks! She's a keeper

This looks delicious and I would feel so healthy drinking it since it comes with some watermelon.
I didn't even think how healthy it was. Now I must have more :P

To each their own. You cake = my mushrooms, which makes no sense, unless you are eating a little debbie cake with some truffle on top :P

Thanks. She was pretty dang proud of herself. As of course was I with my lady adult foodie experiences :P

I love seeing all your different cocktails and you describe them so well. I am trying something at Tiffins, what is your fave there again? Something zing, I think.

I love Casey's face paint and how fun to do the Wilderness pledge.

I am getting excited for my August trip and all the food of course!

My son's first pet was a blue Beta fish named, "Bluey" of course. I once had a tabby I named, "Stripey." Obvious choices. We are lazy like that.

Bravo to Kastoney on yet another fun to read dining report. :) Awesome! I'm not sold on Disney's version of African food, but you do make a great case for it. With Jiko being one of the 30% off AP restaurants and also participating in Magical Dining Month, it is so tempting--more so after reading your review. :)

We will be in WDW November 5-7, with some days in St Pete before and after Disney. We are spending the 6th in MK. Let's meet up!!!!!!!

Ok so I just did a major catch up... however the last 2/3 updates had no pictures... so updates with out food porn I'm sorry but no ok! Assuming something is wrong with the dis or my phone....

Either way hi and love the report and catching up! I've been major MIA!

Mine are NOT. Morgan's teddy bear is Teddy.... Original, huh?
I should have been clearer that this may have been one of the few moments of brilliance she has had. Her "teddy" is aptly named "beary" and her most favorite stuffed animal, an owl, is brilliantly named owly :-)

I love seeing all your different cocktails and you describe them so well. I am trying something at Tiffins, what is your fave there again? Something zing, I think.

You must, must, must (did I say must) have the Annapurna Zing at Tiffins. It's perfection in a glass.

Can't wait to hear all about your trip. This is the first time in 5 years we aren't going and its killing me!

My son's first pet was a blue Beta fish named, "Bluey" of course. I once had a tabby I named, "Stripey." Obvious choices. We are lazy like that.

We get that here too. She did name her fish summer, because she got her in the summer, but otherwise its a world of bluey's and stripeys here too :-)

So glad you enjoyed my report. I know I love eating and writing all about it. I'm not sure how authentic disney African food is, but its good regardless :-) And with 30% off (and I hear they may have a $35 menu too) I wouldn't even hesitate.

We will be in WDW November 5-7, with some days in St Pete before and after Disney. We are spending the 6th in MK. Let's meet up!!!!!!!
Most definitely!!! We haven't figured out any plans yet, but will since fast pass time is coming nearish

My dalmatian growing up was named Spot, of course. Casey is much better than us.
Our dog growing up was Allie, which seems like a good name, until you realize my brother suggested it after seeing "Allie in Wonderland" listed in the movie section of the newspaper. I'll let you figure out what kind of movie theater that was playing in :P

Great updates! Just finished day one so I am looking forward to reading more xx
Hope you enjoy the rest. Just be sure to pour yourself a glass of something first. If you weren't thirsty before you will be after :P

Ok so I just did a major catch up... however the last 2/3 updates had no pictures... so updates with out food porn I'm sorry but no ok! Assuming something is wrong with the dis or my phone....

Either way hi and love the report and catching up! I've been major MIA!
Hmm, I can see everything so maybe something weird was going on when you were looking. Either way, its great to see you. hope all is well
