Transportation: Has anyone ever...

...made connections with other DISrs here on the list who were traveling at the same time and rented an alternative form of transportation to save money?

There are only two of us going on our December 2003 trip and would love to hook up with other DISrs at the airport with happylimo or another transport company to save some money.

Any thoughts or advice?

I've never done this but think it would be a good idea. Just splitting the limo with one other couple would be cheaper than the bus, you'd get a grocery stop, and you'd probably get to the port quicker. I think there's enough people who both arrive the day of the cruise and arrive the night before that there should be someone to hook up with.

Good luck!

Yes...I thought so. I'd love to save money on transportation. It's bad enough airfare is so expensive!
I hope we are able to hook up with someone! Our trips are:

December 14-18, 2003 Wonder
May 15-22, 2004 Magic

...have you checked the Unofficial Cruise List recently? Someone else is going on the 14th with us! I PMd him/her (?) but haven't heard back yet.

No, I hadn't noticed the new name until you just told me. It must be new to the list because I think I just checked a couple days ago and only saw our names.

Hmmm. Let me know what/if you hear from him/her.

THANKS!

Perhaps rent a car at the airport and drive over? It's very easy to find your way there, and both Avis and Budget have drop off locations within a few miles of the Disney terminal (both have free shuttles to the terminal). A one-day rental might be much less than limo service (even with a group), and you have the freedom to explore a little.

My $0.02

Have fun!

Excellent idea! I am definitely going to look into that.

The Avis outlet is in the Radisson hotel (west side of A1A and about 3 miles south of the terminal). The Budget outlet is just another 1/4 mile south on A1A. You can find them on Dave's interactive map:
