Going to be visiting Disney again in November and was curious which was the better alternative to the buses to the parks Uber or lyft and how is the pricing .... Iam staying at Art Of Animation and would much rather take an uber or lyft car to the parks then get on the bus , if anyone has any tip on this please let me know .... Thanks Richie

On average, Lyft seems to be slightly cheaper. But there are fewer people driving for Lyft than for Uber, which shouldn't be noticeable most times, but could cause a longer wait at very busy times or off-hours.

The smart thing to do is to have both apps on your phone and check both prices before actually making your ride request.

Here in Miami, just this week we're suddenly getting complaints from Lyft riders that Lyft fares were higher than Uber -- apparently due to a Lyft fare increase (to the rider; drivers get the same). Obviously, fares are totally market-based, so that may not be true in the Orlando market.

Also, in just the last week, Uber has raised the rates they pay their drivers nationwide (no change in rider fares, just a little more per mile to the driver).

Orlando drivers have the lowest per-mile rates in the country and this increase is about 9% on X rides for them. That differential is probably enough to cause drivers who drive for both companies to avoid Lyft -- especially during busy periods. That will reduce availability, which means longer pickup wait times.

Generally, the ride quality should not vary between companies. Both companies have the same driver and vehicle requirements, and almost everyone who drives for Lyft also drives for Uber -- so same car, same driver.

If you need something special -- car seat, more room, more luxury, etc -- definitely check both companies. In the Orlando market, Uber offers several vehicle options that Lyft does not, including a limited number of vehicles with one car seat for a child.
