This is my idea. Utilize the kids areas for the adults. After all, were just bigger kids. :)

I often think that some of the activities going on in the kids club sound like a lot of fun. But I've never actually gone to any of them. I could on an adults only cruise, without feeling I was taking time or resources away from the kids.

I voted yes only because I have that every cruise! Now that my son is and adult, dh and I cruise by ourselves. I know a lot of people think Disney is just all about kids, but there is a kid in all of us and I enjoy every aspect of the cruise, not just the adult only areas. If Disney did a 21+ cruise, they could just expand entertainment to all those areas so the (now) adult only areas wouldn't be overcrowded. But honestly, I never notice the kids much anyway, unless I am watching them interact with the characters, and I love that. It might sound contradictory to what I just said, but I wish Disney would gear more things to adults and give adults special attention like they do kids. I mean, after all, isn't it the adults that pay for the cruise anyway? Not sure why so much has to be kid-centric.

Since DCL relies on kids to fill the staterooms (2 adults, 2 kids per room vs just 2 adults) they'd probably raise the rates to make up the difference.

Yes, I've seen "entitled" (spoiled) kids on Disney cruises, screaming in Cabanas, running up and down the halls, playing on the elevators, ordering their doting parents around, etc. One of our DCL cruises was followed 3 days later by an RCCL cruise. We were more than ready for the quieter atmosphere.

That being said, I would probably enjoy an adults only cruise on another ship as sometimes getting away from the kiddos is fun. But I'd want an actual adult atmosphere, and while Disney does have adult areas, so much of the ship is geared towards families that I just don't see the point. As others have mentioned, the actual adult areas would be slammed. While an adult only cruise would be fun, Disney just isn't designed for that. And that's OK. It's not who they are.
But would the adults areas "be slammed"? I would think not. Since one of the main reasons adults go to the adults area is to get away from kids. No kids on the cruise at all - no reason for everyone to pack into the adult pool areas etc.
I think they could do a lot fun things for adults in all areas including the kids clubs. Dining rooms would be less chaotic, shows would be able to be watched without kids screaming and running around.
I think it would be a great cruise.

My very first cruise was adults only because my friend wanted to go on a cruise and not being sure I would ever be able to afford another cruise I agreed but only if we could cruise Disney, so we did and both had a blast!

It's because the adults who pay for their kids (and this is the majority of the adults on a Disney cruise) tend to shell out the bucks so that their kids can be charmed by the magic.

They'd probably also raise the rates because adults eat a lot more food than the little kids.

I've seen more entitled behavior from adults than kids. Adults cutting in lines, talking rudely to staff, talking rudely to other passengers, getting intoxicated, etc.

I have only cruised Disney, and only with adults and everytime was wonderful. But I cant imagine there not being any kids on board.

Thanks for this thread, Girl of the South. It's fun to see what everyone thinks. :cutie:

I think those that have not sailed w/DCL see the ships as crawling with yelling, running kids whooping it up. o_O All but 2 of my 10 DCL cruises have been grown-ups only and for me, my DH and my young adult kids (now working professionals), we think DCL does an outstanding job of providing for adults that prefer not to be with the kiddos, from the adults beach on CC to Quiet Cove area, to the clubs and adults only restaurants.

Adults only Disney cruise? Sure! I'd do it in a heartbeat just for a new experience on a Disney ship! Plus, I want to play in the Kids Club!!! :goodvibes

I said maybe. My first thought was that we could try the steak on Castaway Cay. But otherwise, having kids around and having our own kid with us isn't really an issue. He spends as much time as we'll allow in the club and we hang out in the adult areas and everyone's happy.

Fun question though!

We’ve done three Transatlantics and one Panama Canal cruise. All had many fewer children onboard than the Bahamas, Caribbeans, and Alaska cruises we have done. Even though it is just the two of us seniors, we enjoyed the presence of the young people on all of these cruises. We cruise DCL for the ambience, the lack of a casino (and we never play Bingo), and the quality of the entertainment. For adults-only experiences, we have done Viking River cruise and are considering a Viking Ocean cruise to the Baltics as an alternative to a similar itinerary on DCL. Cost is very comparable for the midship verandah cabins we prefer.

That could be fun. We wandered into one on our last cruise and there were a bunch of grown ups playing some sort of Avengers video game and they were having a blast.
Yes! I remember going to one of the open houses with my husband and we geeked out over the millennium falcon "simulator". Also (we're DCL newbs so we didn't realize you weren't allowed in certain sections) we tried to go to the teen section because we knew there were video games and my we like video games but then they told us we were too old (Hearing that was rough lmao. 28 going on a million). I would love to be able to go on a adults only cruise so we could go to the teen club whenever we want and play video games!

There were quite a few opportunities for adults to have time in the Lab, Club, etc. on our last cruise (Norway/Iceland) and we wanted to do some of the scheduled activities they were offering, but we were so exhausted from our touring/excursions that we ended up not doing them. :sad2:

Most of the Open House times didn't work out for us and then when we were able to go to one we felt weird like hanging out with a bunch of kids lol. All my husband wanted to do was play some Battle Front or Mario Party! lol

Yeah, I would feel weird at an open house. They offered those, too, but the ones I'm talking about were "adult exclusive" time or guided activities in the kids areas. It was all adults when we wandered in and saw all the grown ups laughing and playing the action-type Marvel video game. They were having a blast. I guess it was offered because it was a longer cruise (10 night) and there were kids, but not tons of them on the ship.

ETA - there were lots and lots of "adult kids" however. I'm guessing it was a combination of the long flights and the incredible opportunities to learn/tour that skewed the ages on this one.
