So how terrible is it during the christmas break ! It is our first time going Christmas holiday week !

I went once in 2005 and have never done it again. Probably never will either. It was wall to wall people and not the least bit enjoyable. But everyone I am sure has their own take on the subject.

It is very crowded for sure. I have done it three times since 1994... and will be going this year again. It is not the time frame to go with the goal of getting on every ride, seeing every parade, seeing every show and fireworks display. ( although that is certainly possible and we usually do it. It is a different kind of trip for us- slower paced. We take in the sights and sounds of the season and enjoy the feeling it gives.

We have been and will be there this year along with you, we plan around the crowds and found there are more crowded times. We saw all the Christmas parades, all the rides we cared to ride, all of the shows, and other things in the parks. We also take time to visit other resorts and view decorations and the tree display at Downtown Disney. We enjoy the special fireworks display and show on the Castle and park decorations, people are also in better moods so not so many angry family encounters happening around the parks. If you plan around the busy park days, it is not a bad time.

We went in 2017 and we had a great time. Stayed at Beach Club, was able to enjoy the pool 3 different days, got to do everything we wanted in the parks. We started our trip by attending the last MVMCP so that put us in a festive mood and enabled us to catch the castle show etc early in our trip. If you are a seasoned Disney person and know your way around the parks, it helps that's for sure. We were in Magic Kingdom until midnight on xmas eve and everyone who got on our bus was just in the Christmas spirit. If you go into the trip knowing there will be crowds and are okay if you don't get to everything you want you should be fine. The only day we didn't do a park was Christmas day itself. We spent time in Disney Springs and enjoyed the christmas tree display there, shopped etc.

Following - our first Xmas trip this year. We tried Thanksgiving last year, and it was super crowded in MK (almost intolerably so, at times), but not too bad at the other parks.

How was Disney springs on Christmas Day? Thinking that may be a good option fir us in addition to resort hopping!

The week prior to Christmas in 2018 wasn't too bad. We left on Christmas day.

We have been there for Christmas twice ‘13 &’16. The first time Christmas was on Wednesday we arrived on the 21st. The days leading up to the 25th had unexpectedly light crowds including Christmas Eve. I did have the best time Christmas Eve super light crowds at MK in the evening . Major crowds from the 25th to the 29th. 2016 the parks were jammed from the 18th through Sunday Christmas Day. We spent lots of time by the pool that year.
