I was just on the Disneyonline.com site, and just cuz I was bored :bored:
I looked on their contest site, reading the rules, and it said:

"For residents of Canada, a mathematical skill-testing question must be correctly answered to win any prize"

what's up with that? I am a born and raised Californian, I am assuming it is a law of some kind?

......and if you P*** off the judges.....do they give you some horrid molecular bio-physics question, just to watch you squirm??? :teacher:

:magnify: .....SOOOO Billy.....what IS the answer, hmmmmm?? :hourglass
:hyper: OHHH I'm sorry Billy your time is up! No Disney for you!! :joker:

Well then. Only in Canada you say...pitty!
(those of you who know what this is from will get a laugh)
Anyhow, I'm from Canada and I'm going to Disney for the first time.
I don't know what the skill testing question might be, but I hope it's about hockey! :rotfl2:
It's not just enough to be nice guy...I guess you have to prove it as well. :)
Cheers

Oh no Billy, we are SO very sorry...such a pitty! While you clearly are a wonderful person, a phylanthropist really, church going family man, lover of all creatures great AND small, and lest we not forget..the primary funder of all of the worlds scientic explorations to date.....you--are--WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!
You get what the hen laid....0 !!

The Grand Poobah of all Disney prizes is hereby awarded to--Deway Cheatum-EnHow!!! While we understand he may not be ACTUALLY able to personally claim his prize for another 15-20, those online math classes have CLEARLY been a good investment on the part of our taxpayers, huh? :thumbsup2 C'mon citizens....give it up for our new DIS-Winner----!!!!!!!!!! :jumping1: party: :woohoo: :dance3: So martyk--sounds like you know?? Out with it!

Just for the curious side, my original comment stems from an old Red Rose Tea commercial which aired here in Canada for quite some time. It depicted the Queen of England, which supposedly was THE country when it comes to tea, sipping a cup and then making the statement "Only in Canada you say...pitty"
Regarding a skill testing question for those of us who are from Canada, so be it. We have some contests here in Canada that always exclude the Quebec province. Things are as they are.
There are two ways to take it, we are either being picked on or they like us. As Mother always said, they only tease you because they like you...
I may or may not buy into that, but hey, it's better then feeling dumped on. ;)

In Canada only the Government can 'give' a person something. Contests prizes are considered gifts, since Canadian's cannot get gifts a skill testing question must be answered.

Or something to that effect.

well I'm still waitring for the government to give me something better than a big tax bill!
Seriously, your probably right.
Anyhow, Go Leafs Go!

two actually, is that a Yorkie and second is can you take your dogs with you to Disney?

In Canada you answer a question for the following reason:

The combined effect of Sections 197 to 206 of the Canadian Criminal Code bans for-profit gaming or betting, with exceptions made for provincial lotteries, and licensed casinos and charity events. Many stores, radio stations, and other groups still wish to hold contests to encourage more purchases or increase consumer interest. A classic example of such a contest is Tim Hortons' Roll up the Rim to Win, that gives chance to win prizes with every cup of coffee purchased, with prizes ranging from vehicles to doughnuts. These organizations take advantage of the fact that the law does allow prizes to be given for games of skill, or mixed games of skill and chance. In order to make the chance-based contests legal, such games generally have mathematical skill-testing questions incorporated.

The most common form that these questions take is as an arithmetic exercise. A court decision ruled that these must contain at least three operations to actually be skill testing; for example, a common question might be "(2 × 4) + (10 × 3)" (Answer: 38). Enforcement of these rules is not very stringent, and especially for small prizes, the player may not be required to answer the skill-testing question to claim a prize. Anecdotally, getting the answer wrong is also often not an obstacle to claiming a prize. For contests held in the United States or other countries that are open to Canadians, the questions must also be asked of any Canadian winner.

However, we don't get taxed on prizes! My sweetie won $10,000 (which is how we're paying for our disney vacation) and we paid no tax. The whole $10,000 was all for us.

I'll answer any math question for that.
