"You Go, Girl!" August Exercise Challenge

Hi Everyone! Sorry for the late post today. I've been getting connection errors in the early morning the last few days, and then I was out for a while.

Anyway, it's a brand new week, so lets get motivated!!

Personal Numbers: 45 minutes today (morning yoga, then moving tables & chairs and helping load a truck) for a new total of 140/620.

Team Stats: The team as a whole has reached Balance Blue!! :cheer2: Go team!!!

(No new individual color changes, but there are few team members seriously close to orange!)

We stand at 13%, with 3 members still to report in.

Day 7: Grandmother Willow
Grandmother Willow.jpg

"Sometimes the right path is not the easiest one."

Some info from the Disney Wiki ~
Grandmother Willow is a sentient weeping willow tree that serves as an adviser to Pocahontas. She is depicted as being an ancient and wise figure. She can be comical at times, as in her words, there is still snap in her old vines.

She also makes some appearances outside her movie - in two episodes of House of Mouse, and in the parks: at
Disney's Animal Kingdom in the Song of the Rainforest binaural sound show at Rafiki's Planet Watch and in the former Pocahontas and her Forest Friends show at Camp Minnie-Mickey. She also makes a small cameo in the Florida version of Fantasmic! and has a segment in the Disney Dream cruise show Believe, where she sings "Listen with Your Heart" to a practical father so that he can believe in magic.

:rainbow: We have two new blues, and our first orange!!!

Congratulations scdak, snels, and Shrfleen!!!!

The team is at 16% of goal, and everyone who has reported in so far has earned a color!!

Day 8:
Hyacinth Hippo

Hyacinth Hippo is a character from Disney's 1940 movie Fantasia. She appears in the segment Dance of the Hours, representing noontime.

Here is some more info about the film:

"Audience Participation" ~
Have you seen Fantasia?

I've not only seen it, I have an old soundtrack (on cassette tape!)

Personal Numbers: nothing for yesterday

Team Stats: 1,471/9,055 (Next color change at 2,254)

Day 9: Iridessa
Iridessa.jpg

From the Disney Fairies franchise created around Tinker Bell, Iridessa is “a Light Fairy who always looks on the bright side of things. She likes order and following the rules. She is warm and welcoming and makes all new fairies feel at ease.” (source ~ http://fairies.disney.com/)

Keep those minutes coming, everyone!!!

Happy Thursday, everyone! And :welcome:to our newest member, Elizabeth Smith!!

We have an explosion of color changes :rainbow: this morning:
2manypets,
jwishart86,
sophy1996, and
PollyannaMom have all reached "Opportunity Orange!"

(40 new minutes for me, for 180/620.)

:woohoo:Congratulations, everyone!!! The team total is at 1,683 minutes, or 18% of goal.

And for Day 10, we have:
Jessie.jpg

full name: Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl
almost named: Señorita Cactus
voiced by: Joan Cusak
hair: red
eyes: green
owners: Emily, Andy Davis, Bonnie Anderson

Some trivia (from http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Jessie) -

When Jessie first meets Woody, she exclaims, "Sweet mother of Abraham Lincoln!" Abraham Lincoln's mother was Nancy Hanks, a blood relative of Tom Hanks. (Tom is a direct descendant her uncle.)

A Jessie doll makes a cameo in Monsters, Inc. as one of the toys that Boo gives to Sulley after she returns to her room.

Jessie also appears, with Bullseye and Woody, in Meet the Robinsons.

And one more (from http://mentalfloss.com/article/66476/13-playful-facts-about-toy-story-trilogy) -

You can thank [Toy Story writer/director] John Lasseter’s wife Nancy for the character of Jessie in Toy Story 2, as she is the one who convinced her husband that the animated sequel needed a female character of more substance than the first Toy Story’s Bo Peep. Originally, Jessie was a Mexican woman named “Señorita Cactus” who (via The Pixar Touch) “was to sway Woody with her feminine wiles.”

And if you’d actually like to learn to yodel like Jessie:

Have a great day, and keep up the exercising!!! :cheer2:
.

Aaaaaand it's Friday!!!

Personal Numbers: 10 more minutes after I posted yesterday, for 190/620.

Team Updates: A rainbow of color changes :rainbow: -

:stitch: Elizabeth Smith to Balance Blue,
:tigger: Twilight Sparkle to Opportunity Orange, and
:figment: snels jumping straight to Perseverance Purple!

******Congratulations all around!!!!!******

:cheer2: The team total has a whopping 16 minutes to go to get to orange as well! :cheer2:

And for Day 11, we have Kanga ~

Kanga.jpg

"Try not to fall too fast.”

Kanga is the sweet and caring mother of Roo. However, she also acts as a motherly figure to the other Hundred Acre Wood characters, giving advice and help to those in need. She is notable in a way, as she is one of the few characters that Tigger doesn't bounce. Instead, he treats her extremely respectfully, often referring to her as Mrs. Kanga. (http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Kanga)

Though I suspect her name was chosen because "Kanga" and "Roo" make "Kangaroo", I also found this while googling:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanga_(African_garment)

It seems appropriate, since she "wraps" the other characters "close" by taking care of them.

Have a great weekend, everyone, and keep moving!!
