You win some you booze some, a HOT August 2017 dining report! complete 1/25*

:crazy2: ATTENTION: DO NOT EAT AT THE BOARDWALK PIZZA WINDOW

Good to know! I will remember that!

rickyballoons-jpg.264616

:rotfl:This is adorable! Please keep this and pull it out on his wedding day hahaha.

For his meal Steve got the Cheese steak sandwich with a side of broccoli: shaved beef grilled with Onions, Mushrooms, Red Peppers, and White American Cheese served on a hoagie roll with your choice of Seasonal Vegetables, Homemade Chips, or French Fries

img_6470-jpg.264657

Darn, I have no place I can squeeze another ADR in, but I really want this cheese steak sandwich...

Black Cherry Lemonade
Grey Goose Cherry Noir Vodka, Odwalla® Lemonade, fresh Lime Juice and Grenadine topped with Sprite®

Yum! I need to be on the lookout for this one - I plan on sampling lots of boozy beverages on our next trip!

We spent more time in MK using up our FP's before going back to Yacht Club to try this whole "afternoon break" thing.

I always talk about wanting to do afternoon breaks more often, but we never do...

A couple months before our trip there was a thread started on the Restaurants board about how Narcoossee's has gone downhill. I was hoping it wouldn't be the case for us and I'm happy to report it wasn't!

Glad to hear it's still great!

Steve got his new favorite drink, a Moscow Mule:

img_6498-jpg.265841

Luke loves these too, also thanks to Disney!

And I went with my old favorite wine, a Moscato D'Asti:

img_6499-jpg.265842

I might have gone with this x3 tonight........................by the way, I know most wine drinkers don't like Moscato since it's so sweet; to you I say I've recently also become a fan of many Rieslings, also.

You are a woman after my own heart! I love moscato - I'm all about the sweet wines!

Artisan Romaine Wedge Salad: Romaine Wedge with Warm Bacon Vinaigrette, Herbed Mascarpone, Tomato, Avocado, and Parmesan

img_6501-jpg.265844

This looks (and sounds) very interesting! I'm intrigued by it now...

Cider-braised Mussels and Cream: Prince Edward Island Mussels braised in Hard Cider with Leeks and Aromatics, finished with Cream

img_6500-jpg.265843

You need to take this boy to Prince Edward Island! The family of one of my best friend's owns a very popular restaurant there which offers all-you-can mussels. It's not a food I eat, but I was there with another friend once and she ate a giant bucket of mussels on her own - it was impressive!

Note to my women friends who like wearing skirts/dresses to signatures: hold your hem when you go out on Narcoossee's deck if it's breezy, unless you want to treat your fellow diners who might be looking out at the deck through the many, many windows to a little extra pixie dust pixiedust:

:rotfl2::thumbsup2

you know that I do not eat seafood of any kind AT ALL. Don't like it.

Agree!

Almond-Crusted Cheesecake!

img_6519-jpg.266063

This has been on my must-try list for years! It looks so good!

Strawberry Shortcake:

img_6518-jpg.266065

Ok, this also looks amazing!

Your boys look so grown up from when I started reading your reports!

Great Dooney! :thumbsup2 I have the tote in the same pattern :)

Warm Colossal Cinnamon Roll: shaped like Mickey! Chris managed to eat all but one ear

img_6561-jpg.267655

These things are way too huge for me to consider trying - that's like an entire meal for me! And I don't even love cinnamon rolls that much!

I got a Disney staple that everyone should try once, the famous Disney Danish, apple version:

img_6562-jpg.267656

Oh, and a soda.

I love that you ordered a Coke with breakfast - that's something I always get weird looks for doing!

This is so cute! I'm like you - I would have had a hard time breaking that apart to eat it!

Oh also, because it had taken so long for someone to escort us up and then because we waited for the KTTW card (not sure why they didn't just give us the key when we were downstairs checking in, but oh, well) he had the on-duty CL CM call down to Whispering Canyon and tell them we'd be a bit late for our ADR.

I think it's awesome that they did this for you! You shouldn't have to suffer for being late when they were the ones that took so long and held you up in the first place!

Our server came back and suggested the Moosehead so Steve tried it. I ordered the Moonshine Lemonade with Watermelon:

img_6596-jpg.268594

Ugh, Moosehead?! Gross, why?! It's a Canadian beer, made in my home province and I've never liked it haha.

Gold Rush Western Chips with Chili, Queso Dip and Fresh Salsa:

img_6599-jpg.268621

I wanted to order these so bad when we were at Whispering Canyon, but I knew it would be way too much food and most of it would go to waste.

All You Care to Eat Skillet: Slow-smoked Pork Ribs, Barbecued Pulled Pork, Roasted Glazed Chicken, and Western-style Sausage served with Mashed Yukon Potatoes, Corn on the Cob, an Cowboy-style Baked Beans

img_6606-jpg.268624

This is what I had too!

Once we had it all I had to move it out of the way of everyone's food; another server saw me trying to make room, came over and told me I needed to make a castle out of it:

img_6605-jpg.268626

I'm jealous that you had a decent server! We had an older lady who just brought us a single bottle of ketchup when we asked for it.

Hey all, I apologize for the lack of updates. Over the weekend Ricky got hurt real bad in his football game. Wednesday we found out he tore his ACL, will need surgery and will miss this whole basketball season.

Oh no! That's a tough injury! Hopefully he's feeling a bit better now, and you guys have a date set for surgery!

The crap around the rim was another story though and I'm not sure if it was nicotine, tobacco, or pencil shreddings but it's nasty.

:rotfl2:What a hilarious description! I never like that crap they put on the rims of drinks.

I've been meaning to try this, and we never get around to it! It looks delicious!

I think I could make an entire meal just from this picture!

img_6661-jpg.271852

He liked them but getting the meat out was way too much work for him and he stated that you are NOT supposed to have to work for your food. I'm not sure how he expects to eat once we kick him out of the house, but that's not going to be my concern at that point, thank God.

Hahahaha, I agree with him! If I'm left on my own for supper, it usually involves delivery or something out of a box/can. I am not into cooking at all.

I also think as he gets older, he will either seek out restaurants that offer this or possibly even open a restaurant himself, simply to be able to give others the experience that is....
The After Dinner Hot Towel

img_6671-jpg.271970
img_6676-jpg.271971
img_6681-jpg.271974

img_6678-jpg.271972
img_6679-jpg.271973

These are amazing hahaha. I love how excited he is for hot towels!

We were club level guests and we were able to get into our rooms AND the lounge by ourselves, it was a Tuesday morning miracle :worship:

Hurray! Finally!

img_6717-jpg.274290

I took the picture because they looked soooo good, little donuts with mini marshmallows and pieces of thick homemade looking graham crackers also inside.

Oh, yum! This sounds so good!

Bananas Foster French Toast, served with bacon:
img_6719-jpg.274292

This looks delicious! Overly sweet, but delicious!

After that we all went down and enjoyed some pool time which was a huge switch for us:

img_6724-jpg.274306

I still haven't so much as dipped a toe into a Disney pool :sad2:

He thought this was totally the shiznit.

Haha, not hard to tell you have teenagers!

Oh my goodness, his face! That is a look of terror!

Oven-Baked Chicken alla Parmigiana: Breaded Chicken Breast with Marinara Sauce topped with Melted Mozzarella over Spaghetti:

img_6778-jpg.275370

We had a reservation at Mama Melrose's for our January trip, but we just cancelled it today because we were able to reserve Highway in the Sky - but this was definitely what I would have ordered had we ended up keeping that reservation!

img_6845-jpg.277741

Behold the Grey Goose Strawberry Slush, and we didn't have to go to WS to get it!!!! I read about this on Renee @ArielSRL 's TR: she got hers at Cool Wash closer to TT and I got this very close to the Pixar film festival but I can't remember exactly where. The important thing is it was THERE, and it was DELICIOUS.

Ok, I did not know this existed! Sounds amazing - I must add it to my list!

Empanadas con Queso: Fried Flour Tortillas filled with Cheese and served with Mexican Slaw:

img_6862-jpg.277745

He isn't that fond of the slaw but loves the cheese empanadas, and I agree they're really good. These are exactly as the description says, fried tortillas filled with cheese. He let Ricky have one and Steve ate some of the slaw but Steve also got this
Guacamole with Totopos: Fresh-made Guacamole with Tortilla Chips:

img_6861-jpg.277744

Hmm, I might have to add this to my list of quick serve places...

And now back to where we left off: Les Halles lunch.

For some reason, I can't find this review anywhere in your report? Did I somehow skip a page while reading?

You guys finally made it there!

These are so cute!

img_6886-jpg.279131

He loved this, I mean who wouldn't love those fries??

Crinkle cut fries! I never see those at Disney!

Macho Nachos: Loaded with seasoned ground beef, shredded cheddar jack cheese, queso, black been corn salsa and pickled jalapenos drizzled with avocado ranch and served with a side of sour cream

img_6888-jpg.279145

Looks great!

You have a beautiful family Ariane! Congratulations on the new daughter-in-law!

Did you guys enjoy the Halloween Party?

It was a total blast!! The fact that this year, our Halloween party ticket worked as a park hopper made the evening fly by even faster than usual. It was a blur of non-stop fun :goodvibes This was the 7th year in a row we did the Halloween party (Noah has no memory of ever NOT doing it ) and hope to continue the tradition for many years to come!

Behind again.. UGH!

BUT... We'll be arriving on the 7TH!! We were supposed to be arriving on the 8th, but I asked my mom if she wanted to add on a day since I ended up with some extra vaca time and she said "Heck yeah sure why not!" so we will be there the 7th. One night at Sports and then to Saratoga Springs for the 8-13th! Where are you staying? I think we'll be in HS on the 7th in the daytime and then probably Epcot.. and then MK on the 8th?

I did end up booking both Narcoossee's (can't get that dang cheesecake out of my head) and Cali Grill - scored a brunch reservation so I am really excited about that.

BUT... We'll be arriving on the 7TH!!
Whoo!!!! We're there until the 8th!!! I'm going to message you on FB :thumbsup2

Where are you staying? I think we'll be in HS on the 7th in the daytime and then probably Epcot.. and then MK on the 8th?
We're at Poly on the 4th and then moving to CSR. I believe we're going to HS in the morning on the 7th too and then Epcot to spend time with Kari and her family so we should definitely be able to meet up!!!!

Oh those shrimps, those yummy shrimps!!! I need me to stay CL at the WL just for those babies!!!
lol, I can see you checking the menu and then sitting in the lounge the whole time the shrimp are out!

Seriously though, any hard ticket party item, for the cost, really needs to include BooZE!!!
You have a very valid point :drinking1I'm thinking maybe since everyone has to go out on the water, that could be a reason they don't serve it? Maybe because there are normally lots of kids? I had a great time but booze=a better time :)

I am all caught up, I agree with the food at Splitsville! The loaded fries there are so delicious!
I'll have to try them on our next visit! We're planning a Splitsville return in March :thumbsup2

The Pirate party looks like a fun time, we are all for trying different things now that we have been many times so thanks for the review!
As much as the boys (well, mostly Ricky) enjoy the staples, they look forward to the trips more when they know we're trying something new.

he food in the club lounge that comes in mason jars is a cool idea, but I feel like it might be difficult to get some of the food out? Like the giant shrimp?
Ha! As big as those babies were they came out easy!

I had to laugh. I read this but the only picture that I could see was Chris' birthday party. I thought to myself - probably not my kind of wedding either :) Then I realised that it was a different event.
When I first read this I was hysterical! Now THAT would be a wedding :rotfl2::rotfl:

:scared: I don't think I had even realized you had started this, I've been a terrible Dis-er lately!

I am here though, I'm going back now to start reading :)
 I can only imagine how busy you are with how close the wedding is, and I've been terrible at keeping up with everyone else's reports including yours. I'll get over there as soon as we're back from our trip, I promise!

:rotfl:This is adorable! Please keep this and pull it out on his wedding day hahaha.
lol I plan on it!

I always talk about wanting to do afternoon breaks more often, but we never do...
They really worked out great on this trip and I wouldn't be surprised if we do them on future summer trips, but when it's not so hot I'll continue to skip them :)
You are a woman after my own heart! I love moscato - I'm all about the sweet wines!
:D
Your boys look so grown up from when I started reading your reports!
I know :( It goes way too fast, Ricky will be getting his driver's permit in April

Ugh, Moosehead?! Gross, why?! It's a Canadian beer, made in my home province and I've never liked it haha.
I don't know, except he wasn't that impressed with their beer selections. Way too dark for me so I didn't try it!

Oh no! That's a tough injury! Hopefully he's feeling a bit better now, and you guys have a date set for surgery!
We do, a week from today 11/10. He's nervous but ready to have it done and begin rehab. It's amazing how wonderful and supportive his basketball coach and his teammates have been, it's made all the difference for him emotionally.

I still haven't so much as dipped a toe into a Disney pool :sad2:
Again, we had a great time chillin' in the pools on this trip! However Steve and I NEVER use the pools when it's just the two of us, and even Ricky would be fine if we didn't swim. At this point it's just for Chris!

For some reason, I can't find this review anywhere in your report? Did I somehow skip a page while reading?
It's the weirdest thing, when I read this I went back to see, because I DID do that post and there are still comments from others who quoted me! But for whatever reason that whole post is gone :confused3 WTH, where did it go lol?

Crinkle cut fries! I never see those at Disney!
I have never seen crinkle cut fries anywhere else in Disney and I love them!

You have a beautiful family Ariane! Congratulations on the new daughter-in-law!
:thanks:
And I have no idea how those last few quotes ended up coming out that way, either :sad2: I must be new at this............

Hello my friends! Sorry to get you all excited but I'm not back with a food update. I just want to say I WILL be back to finish this up-I still have 3 days to go!-when Steve and I get back from our Food and Wine trip that we leave for tomorrow :cheer2: We're only going for a few days and while I do plan on eating and drinking A LOT and we're going to have quite a few awesome DISMeets, I'm not going to do a separate dining report since I still have this one going as well as my current TR. But I'll do a mini F&W DR in with this one, so I'll see you all in a few days!!

I realize I didn't do so hot at all taking pictures of the lounge offerings, but here are a couple:
Don't you hate when you get home and you thought you took lots of pics and then it feels like you didn't ...

and Chris's arm:
Yum! I love Chris's arm. So tasty!

Overall I was happy we did P&P and even the boys said they enjoyed parts of it. The snacks were good, but it would be better with some rum pirate:
Here Here! Everything would be better with rum!

Have a magical time !
Thank you! I had some stress in the back of my mind but we still managed to have fun :goodvibes

Have a great trip!
Thank you  Unfortunately we're back already but thinking ahead to our next one!

Don't you hate when you get home and you thought you took lots of pics and then it feels like you didn't ...
Yes!! Happens to me all the time but it seems I really messed up with the CL pics :(

Yay, I’m all caught up! Really enjoying, hope your current trip is going well!
Aw, thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it! Our trip really was great even though I had Ricky and his surgery on my mind. The break from reality was nice; isn't it always lol??

And, we are back from our quick F&W trip! As anxious as I was with Ricky's surgery being 2 days after we got home, I managed to have fun. The weather was gorgeous the food was delicious and we had some great DIS company! Before I get back to our August trip I'll do a very quick recap of this past adults only vaca for you :thumbsup2
I started this Thursday, and Ricky had his surgery today. All went well, very well in fact as far as the surgery goes. My poor baby was SO nervous this morning and not happy when they put the first IV in, but when it was over he said it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. The anesthesia made him sick so we were there longer than anticipated, but we've been home about 5 hours now and he's propped up comfortably in bed playing NBA 2K on PS4 with his friends  He had two nerve blocks in his knee and they're just now starting to wear off so he's beginning to feel some pain which I think will increase tomorrow but we're all just so happy this is done with and he can start recovery! We see the surgeon again on the 27th and as long as he can put all his weight on that leg he'll begin physical therapy after that. Until then it's crutches while putting as much weight as possible on that leg right from the beginning. Thank you everyone for asking about him and for all your positive thoughts and comments
SATURDAY, NOV.4th
We arrived at the Poly around 7, which was one hour after we stepped off our plane. No ME this time, we taxi'd over, baby! Got a great room in Tuvalu with a MK view:

IMG_7440.JPG
Horrible picture, sorry! We were starving so we dropped our bags and went straight to the GCH to eat, but first we had to meet up with Kelly @buzzrelly and her DH Mike (NOT her BF for anyone reading my TR lol):

IMG_7446.JPG

We hung out in the Poly lobby chatting for a bit and then went our separate ways as we were all in search of food! So nice to meet them both!
We ate at Tambu Lounge while talking to a great older couple from NJ. First a couple drinks followed by potstickers for Steve and the amazing pulled pork nachos for me:

IMG_7450.JPG

Pulled Pork Nachos:
Polynesian Chips topped with Pork, Cheese, Pineapple Salsa, and spicy Mayonnaise
Holy Moly these were delicious! Steve's potstickers were the same as you get at 'Ohana which I normally love, but eating them with the nachos made them pretty boring. Everything about these nachos was perfection! the pork was tender and flavorful and the spicy mayo was fantastic.
I also had the Island Sunset and Steve continued his love affair with the Disney Moscow Mule:

IMG_7449.JPG
Island Sunset:
Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Coruba Coconut Rum, and Peach combined with our Guava-Passion Fruit Juice
This was good and got my vacation started off right! Heavy on the sweet peach though. I followed this up with some red sangria which was also very good. And yes, that tall thin glass is Steve's mule! We found a couple places that didn't have the copper mugs but that didn't stop Steve from enjoying his new favorite drink.
Other than a quick successful run to guest services at MK to pick up my TA ticket and upgrade that to an Annual Pass (can you say more WDW trips in 2018?), we called it a night.

SUNDAY, NOV. 5TH
We were up bright and early to hit MK for some 7DMT with no FP! We had a horrendous breakfast in our room while getting ready from Capt. Cook's, too bad to even take pictures of. I did take pictures of all that we ate at our next park though!

IMG_7513.JPG

Get ready for our first day of Food and Wine!!

Here we have the cider flight from the Farm Fresh booth(spilled one there, oh the waste!):

IMG_7514.JPG

From left, we have Two Henry's Elderberry Cream Hard Cider, Woodchuck Raspberry Hard Cider, and Gumption Citrus Freak Hard Cider. My favorite was the Raspberry but I also really enjoyed the Elderberry, however it was the sweetest of the 3. The citrus didn't really do it for me but I'm not usually a fan of citrus-y stuff. Still managed to drink it, though!
To go with the cider flight we got one of the :

IMG_7515.JPG

Crispy Chicken with Griddled Cornbread and Red Eye Gravy. The draw for me here was the cornbread but I have to say, the whole ensemble was fabulous! Steve and I devoured this. The breading on the chicken SO good; Steve declared it much better than the fried chicken sandwich he had at Homecomin' back in May :duck:The gravy on it was divine and the cornbread, while not as sweet as cornbread we've gotten around WDW, was warm and soft and tasty. Score at our first booth!
I'm not sure how we ended up all the way in China next but we did, and got
Chicken Pot Stickers and Black Pepper Shrimp with Garlic Noodles:

IMG_7516.JPG

The shrimp/noodles were for Steve. He said the noodles had a great flavor and also had quite a kick, but the shrimp had no real flavor. We both tried the Pot Stickers and while they weren't bad nothing stuck out about the - just your regular, every day Pot Stickers.
I got a drink off the F&W menu here, too:
Happy Peach: with DeKuyper Peach Liqueur and Myer's Dark Rum. I took a picture but I can't find it, and honestly it wasn't memorable in any way. It was......flat. Best way to describe it, a very bland, blah drink with a faint hint of peach that did nothing to help it at all.
Next up, we were heading towards Germany! And when near Germany you eat like they do in Africa by getting the Berbere-Style Beef Tenderloin Tips with Onions, Jalepenos, Tomato and Pap:

IMG_7519.JPG

This was all Steve's and he loved it. Now if you love spicy you'd LOVE this, and if you absolutely cannot do spicy you would have to stay away from this. Just ask @kastoney, she knows :rolleyes1

This picture is way out of line (naughty picture!) because I think we went to the Festival Center before any booths, but when we did we picked up our very special buttons for special people AP F&W Remy buttons, and got the ones for Sept., Oct., and Nov.:

IMG_7518.JPG

I'm at my picture limit so I'll leave you here but I'm going to be back asap to finish up Nov. 5th and get this little mini Nov. dining report done quickly!

So glad to hear he's doing well!

Nov. 5th, continued

After Steve's African adventure (at which time I grabbed me a Shofferhofer to drink while we sat for him to eat) our next stop was jolly old England!
We were both super thirsty so we got something to drink. Steve tried to get a Guinness from Rose and Crown but there were about 10,000 people on line :scared1: so he settled for this child-size cup of from the England booth. I on the other hand tried a Marger's Pear Hard Cider from the little kiosk-stand that's always set up outside R&C:

IMG_7520.JPG
Steve thought the beer was really good and the cider is now a new WS fave for me! It was nice and bubbly with a light pear taste and unlike many other ciders, NOT overly sweet.
I'd been eyeing something at the booth and figured what the hell, I'm already disgustingly full so let's eat more!

IMG_7521.JPG

This wasn't bad but I wouldn't get it again. The soup had a great beer taste but it was too cold for my liking. It's also VERY thick, like super thick. The bread was good and perfect for dipping. Cold or not I finished it all lol!
As we were standing at our little table in the U.K, Su-Lynn @chunkymonkey texted that they were almost done with their like, 3 hour lunch at Msr. Paul's. We were going to head out after this snack but we really wanted to see her and her DH Steve again so we hung around to meet up! We first met back in May and then missed each other by a hair in August. I'm trying my best to upload the picture of us but for some reason I can't and I'm so pissed! Hopefully Steve can get it to work for me so I can prove we met again

They walked to us from France and we spent some time talking about their fabulous lunch and chatting in general. It was good to see them again! They were quite full and were going back to their resort and we'd decided to go check in to our next resort also, so we parted ways until next time :)

We moved into our room at CSR for the remainder of our stay (refurbed room!) and then began the trek over to the Grand Floridian. Why? Another DISMeet! This time we were going to Mizner's to meet up with the lovely and very sweet @Jenny Sanders , her DH Joe and their absolutely precious niece Gia. She was so well-behaved and adorable!

meandjenny.jpg
Unfortunately we ran late and instead of meeting at 5 it was close to 6 when we got there, and they had dinner reservations for 6. We still got to hang for almost a half hour, had a great time talking with them, and will hopefully hang out more in March since our trips coincide again!

Next was back to Epcot for the Eat to the Beat Concert with Living Colour who were amazing and an 8:30 dinner at Beirgarten. We hadn't eaten here in a few years and after recently reading some good reviews on the DIS I decided I was in the mood....however my phone was acting up and I took 0 pics. That's right, had all intentions of adding to the dining report and took NO food pictures at our dinner! I'm sorry. We did get seated with a very friendly and young couple over from England, their first trip to the states and to WDW, and enjoyed talking with them. Dinner was good! I think I actually liked it better than Steve. I wouldn't rush to get back here but I wouldn't NOT come if it worked in our schedule.
On our way out Steve took this:

IMG_7604.JPG

I need to get these pictures smaller. That was our first full day in the books!

Mon. Nov. 6th
Today started out with breakfast at the Pepper Market. I couldn't resist getting some Mickey waffles and bacon:

IMG_7546.JPG

Good, but as is the norm in food courts my waffles were a bit cold by the time I sat, got my drink, my syrup, and butter. Steve opted for a breakfast bowl:
Ham & Cheese Breakfast Bowl - Scrambled Eggs, Shredded Cheese, Diced Ham, Potato Wedges, Salsa Verde, Ranchero Sauce, Tomatoes and Cilantro
He didn't get the salsa or ranchero sauce and said it was like a deconstructed ham and cheese omelet with the breakfast potatoes mixed in. That sounds good, except when they scooped the ham into the bowl they scooped a ton of the water from the bottom of the pan which is gross, so it was way soggy at the bottom. Therefore Steve didn't eat much of this.

IMG_7545.JPG

Our first park this morning was my formerly favorite, HS. We used FP's for RnRC and TOT (60 minute SB at 10:00!!) then watched the BaTB show for the first time in forever - see what I did there? I mixed two movies! We were debating eating lunch at the Brown Derby Lounge when Steve made what is probably his best suggestion since he suggested we get married-why not see what's available at Tiffin's? O-K! It was about noonish and we found a reservation for 1:20. Hopped on a bus and got there at 1. OMG Nomad Lounge was jammin', such a difference from when we were there in March. It's really taken off along with Tiffins and I'm glad, because we had another out of this world experience there and I want both places around forever and ever!
We tried checking in 20 minutes early but were told because they were full they'd be seating right at our reservation time, so we went and got drinks in Nomads.
I got the Lamu Libation:
Starr African Rum, Cruzan Banana Rum, Guava Purée, with Orange, Lime, and Pineapple Juices topped with Gosling's 151 Rum
Steve got......wait for it! A Moscow Mule.

IMG_7572.JPG

Mine was good and well, Steve loves his Mules. Again with no copper mug but he was ok with that. We tried finding a seat inside or out but nothing. We were called about 10 minutes after our ADR time and as I said, the restaurant was PACKED. Angela was our server and she was great. I thought I was going to get the same thing I had last time but then she presented us with a special lunch menu, the Chef's Tasting, and we both decided to get that. For $49 pp you got a sampling of 3 apps, an entree from a choice of about 5, and a sampling of 3 desserts. Steve told me to take a picture of the Chef's Tasting menu but did I?? :sad2:

We still got the bread service that everyone gets:

I can never remember exactly what the deal is with this bread but it's got pomegranite in/on it and I love it. Not so much the sweet sticky dipping sauce but just the bread plain.
Here's our apps, we each got them:

Heirloom Tomato Salad, Octopus, Black-Eye Pea Fritter. My favorite was the fritter which I would never think to order since I hate peas (see one of my earlier dining report titles). However this was my favorite of the 3 apps, delicious! I also enjoyed the tomato and mozzerella as well as the kalamata olives with the octopus, but I gave my octopus to Steve since I don't do seafood. Steve totally enjoyed the fritter and salad but he loves the octopus here so was more than happy to have both portions. He got the octopus app when we ate here in March.
Next up were our entrees! At first I was going to get a nice looking grilled chicken option from the Chef's menu but then the table next to us had their entree's delivered and I saw the Wagyu Pizzole: served with black rice and Jalapeno cornbread

I don't know why the bottom of the bowl looks funny, it didn't in real life lol. The pizzole is like a chili and I don't know how else to explain it really other than that it was out of this world heavenly. The black rice, which I'd never had before, was perfection and the cornbread was 1000x better than the jalapeno cornbread they serve at Flame Tree. This entree overall is not something I would see on a menu and order for myself, but having loved the wagyu last time and then seeing it presented on the table next to me I HAD to have it. And I'm so glad I did!
I hate to cut this review off before it's done but I'm at my picture limit. I'd finish tonight but I'm so exhausted, we were up at 3:45 to get ready and leave for the hospital for surgery and I don't think I have it in me to do one more update :faint: So I will continue soon with Tiffins but let me just say this meal blew us away!

I'm so happy that Ricky's surgery went well and is now behind you! Here's wishing him a speedy recovery so he can get back to doing what he loves!

first we had to meet up with Kelly @buzzrelly and her DH Mike (NOT her BF for anyone reading my TR lol):

Lol! It was great meeting you and Steve! But how come I look like I just got off a 3 hour plane ride, and not you?! What a wrinkly mess I am!:rotfl:

we picked up our very special buttons for special people AP F&W Remy buttons, and got the ones for Sept., Oct., and Nov.:

Aw, Mike is going to be jealous! We just got one button when we went. I didn't realize you could ask for more?

And as always, I bow to you and your wooden leg :worship::drinking1 I tried ONE alcoholic beverage at EPCOT and it knocked me on my BUTT!

Your Tiffins dinner looks delicious. Can't wait to read more!

I'm glad the surgery went well! Hopefully recovery will be smooth!

Those nachos look amazing! And Tiffins was one of our favorite meals for the trip :)

We also liked the chicken and cornbread. Yum! I'm disappointed I didn't try more ciders since I've recently decided that I like them. It just didn't occur for some reason :confused3 That's too bad about Steve's breakfast, it sounds like it would have been good but :crazy2: That's my problem with cafeteria style places. I'm picky about exactly what part of the pan I want! :rotfl: I'll take slightly cold Mickey waffles any day (And I'd take them any day at home! )

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Biergarten! I just picked up a Candlelight Processional lunch there. Our budget weekend trip next month is quickly becoming less budget as we add that, consider adding a day to go to the Christmas party... :rotfl:
