Oh boy....I could say so many things! It was a "hot" date! But seriously, stopped and bought a hair dryer and big flashlight on the way home, found a long extension cord, got a big piece of cardboard out of the garage so I didn't have to lay on the snowy ground while crawling through the opening, AND couldn't get the tiny door to the crawlspace open. :headache: I couldn't tell if it was frozen or if I just don't know how to open it, but I got frustrated and just went inside and called a plumber. They have a huge list of houses waiting for them to come thaw pipes and have bought an extra pipe thawing machine to help keep up with demand. Didn't know such a machine existed. In the meantime, the plumber's office told me to crank my heat up higher and open my cabinets so the warm air can get in and that sometimes helps. Not sure, but after having the heat cranked up for an hour, water started flowing from the faucet in the bathtub! WOOHOO! Now I'm still hoping the one in the kitchen sink will do the same. Otherwise the plumber will be coming to thaw only the cold water going to the kitchen sink. My homeowner's insurance will only cover the cost if the pipes actually burst.

So now I'm paranoid because it's supposed to get down to 9 below tonight with wind chills 20-30 below, so I've been turning on all the faucets every half hour and will leave them running a little when I go to bed.

Glad to hear things are working out. An emergency plumber bill could be costly.:scared1:

Excuse us as we are proud -

Your daughter looks proud as well :thumbsup2 and is a cutie. Congratulations!

I made it easy for my DH for my 40th....we were on a DCL cruise to Mexico!!! :rotfl: He didn't have to do anything, the celebration was already there!!!

DH's birthday will be on the cruise. I love this idea!. He'll be 54 on May 15, 2008.

Ohhhhhhh, what's a caribbean lemonade? This sounds refreshing!

....it's a good thing i made promenade's give me the recipe:

1 1/2 absolute manderin
1/2 triple sec
2 sour mix
splash cranberry
top with sprite

it's like a cosmopolitan, but a little less sweet and a little bit more tart.

dh makes them for me at home. i discovered it as a dod on the 11 night southern carribbean.

try it, you might like it!

Finally all caught up. :cool1: I hope everyone has a great day. It is currently 12 degrees here in Maryland.

It has gotten quiet here. Bye Bye for now.

Mom323: The logo design AND designer are sure cute. I think if "Brat" is willing to redesign the logo for signature purposes, that would be nice. But I don't think it's a huge issue. I think the logo looks pretty good in your signature. And it will be the perfect size/shape for door signs and t-shirts. Now I need to work on getting it into my signature. I haven't had great luck with photos/artwork. I've already admitted to being craft-impaired and technically challenged. You folks will begin to wonder if the girl has any skills at all.

Okay, time for some tech help. Everytime I try to add a picture to my signature, it shrinks to 100 x 100 pixels. So the logo ends up teeny, tiny, as do any photos I want to add. What am I doing wrong? :confused3

My DH also reminded me that we should do as many fun, wonderful Disney trips as we can while our daughter is still of an age to enjoy them as she is growing up WAY to fast already and she is our only only.

- wife of been2marceline...

Um, our DD is 38 and still enjoys Disney with us. She and her DH are going to WDW and on cruise with us this Dec. Teach 'em young and the magic will live on!

OK now we need a summary:

Jellojatdisney 39 on May 21
LisaG520 41 on May 20
Calmom 40 on May 16
Seaulater 29 on May ? (sorry can't remember)
NoSoLittleMermaid 59 on May 23
Granmaz 60 honorary May birthday

Anyone else?

Tim DH of mom_of_2_princesses will be turning 40 on may 8th. It is a couple days earlier. I obviously won't be throwing him a big party so we will be celebrating it on board.

Frozen pipes: The rest of the story......

Well, for inquiring minds, $367 later, my pipes are all unfrozen! Only took about 5 minutes. Cool machine that hooks up to pipes like jumper cables, sends an electrical charge from one end of the pipe to the other which thaws it almost instantly. I have to focus on how cool that is, rather than what it cost! At least that's cheaper than what it would have cost if the pipe had burst.

Over and done with, I don't want to remember the price. Now I will leave my water trickling overnight and when I leave for work while it's that cold. Lesson learned. :scared1:

So now I actually have to head to work, where I'm sure I won't be checking in here, since my work will be sitting there waiting for me to get there. Try not to give me 30 pages to catch up on tonight after DS is in bed! :rotfl2:

I am so glad it all worked out! I was thinking about you last night and how that would stink to not be able to take a shower in the morning.

And DS (Tyler) turns 6 four days after I get home! That will be a hectic few days....unpacking and getting ready for his birthday party.

Yeah, I was glad that cold faucet in there came on last night because otherwise, it would have been one really hot shower! The plumber told me it's strange because I'm the first one who had the cold water pipes freeze....everybody else he helped had frozen hot water pipes. Guess I'm just a little backwards!

I feel so guilty...........

I lied..............:cool2:

I'll really be 49 on May 11, 2008!

But honestly, I feel 29!:rotfl2: (at least my mind says so!)

Well, Holly, glad it was ONLY $367, but unexpected expenses are just so..unexpected. So glad your pipes didn't burst and you have a plan for the rest of the cold season.

Now, on arriving in LA we are hoping to hire a car to drive on up to SF, but on the port site it gives Enterprise as the car rental company onsite, and they close on Sundays!! Any other ideas anyone? I told you yesterday I was worrying about it!
I went onto Enterprise's website and pulled up the info for this location, and atleast for now there are some Sunday hours.

who is planning on staying a day or two in LA? Any thoughts on where to stay? and how far is the port from DL? or other big sites?
