Okay!

I have been a busy girl planning out my girls outfits. I was going to the fabric store and buying this because it was pretty too much!!!!

Here is the Ohano Breakfast outfit. I am doing it for both girls. I love the Lilly hair bow. These Lilly's were my wedding flower!

Here is the outfit for MGM in the morning. I hate the sketch but you get the idea.

Here is the sketches for a Magic Kindom outfit. I am doing different dresses for the girls using the same fabric.

The buttons for the MGM outfit - those look like buttons from the scrapbook section (my other obsession). How do you attach those so that they stay on the fabric? Do you have to take out the thread and then reattach? I have a LOT of those scrapbook embellishments, maybe I could use them for some custom work!

Here is the last sketch. It is for Animal Kingdom. I am not sure what pattern I am going to use. I have a halter pattern and I am not in love with it.

I was thinking of doing the halter and the pillowcase white. Although part of me thinks it should be a color. The color in the scan did not show up well. I was going to stick with zebra and cheeta prints. Maybe just two or three to not make it so crazy.

I also need help with the ears. They need cheeta Minnie mouse ears! Anyone tried this before???

Any suggestions???

How many of you ladies pre-wash your fabrics? I'm used to working with upholstery fabric, so no prewashing there. I have that large minnie dot fabric and I pre-washed that before I started cutting and sewing, but its such a pain. Just wondering if I'll need to do this on all the cotton fabrics. I thought some of the manufacturers pre-washed already...so I'm confused. :confused3

I made a skirt for Jeanie out of the Minnie dot print last night.
I’m planning on putting the vintage Minnie embroidery on a tank top for her to wear with it.

Castle – You used the brother machine for the Minnie outfit, right? How big is that Minnie? 4 inches?
Can you resize it?

Belly – Yes! I’ll be there for 12 days, and I feel like I’m making too much. And she’ll only get to wear this stuff once. But oh well, I’ve only invested a few days so far.
So it’s worth it, right?

Halloween – I love your Auruora (her name is hard to spell!) shirt!

Lisa – Wow! Your tink is incredible!

Princess Leigh’s Dad – OH MY GOODNESS! Can I kidnap you for a bit? I love your duck outfit!!! You are so talented!

Alikat – where did your mom get the mickey hands and head fabric? It looks like that sheet set we were discussing the other day.

Aimee – Your smocking looks great. I’m still intimidated by it!
Your sketches look good too – can’t wait to see the outfits!

Keepmovingforward –I’m curious about prewashing too. I prewashed the Mickey gingham, the purple ariel and the blue, but not this last batch.
I’m so lazy!
And I haven’t ironed anything either.
Maybe I can get my mom to help do all the stuff I hate!

sponge bob halter and twirl skirt
As I was posting these photos, I'm thinking whew...he's done, finally. Now I noticed that his socks are missing the red and blue stripes. :sad2: I guess I'm not done, after all
and his little dots on his cheeks...
Anyway I made a simple twirl skirt, and the halter has a shirred back. I like this style because it's a little more form fitting. The halter, came out okay. It looks like it's missing something.[/QUOTE]

Is there a pattern for the halter? I have an older daughter but this looks modest enough I"d let her wear it.
thanks

Hello....I'm new to this thread. I've been trying to read through it for days and can't seem to find the end. It's addictive..yes, addictive I say!! In any case, forgive me if this info has already been posted, but I really wanted to share my latest purchase from the Disney Store.

I just bought a pair of ladies stretch denim jeans, with Minnie Mouse painted down one leg. The jeans can also be viewed at DisneyShopping.com. They really remind me of some of the cute handpainted childrens' clothes I've seen on Ebay. We need cute clothes too, ladies!! As an added bonus, the jeans ran big and I had to buy 2 sizes smaller than I normally wear. Yes Virginia, there is a size tag fairy!

PS - It's wonderful to know I'm not the only one having crazy fun dressing my DD in boutique/custom Disney clothes!!!

I was tempted to buy those jeans. I might have to buy them now, since I'd be able to wear 2 sizes smaller than normal. Will they print the size on the outside of the pants for me, do you think? ;) Do they fit bigger in the waist, legs, butt, or just all over?

Once you see how fast the machine does it, you wont want to even think about doing it yourself! I used to sit around doing needlework, but no more! Now there's machines that do it for you IF you hold your tongue just right and DONT even think about breathing! :rotfl2:
YEAH! An applique expert! Just what we like around here. Okay, I'm ready for you to start explaining the process right now! I cant seem to figure out how to get my lines straight, especially on dark shirts, and I dont seem to know how to do eyes. Do ya'll do that by hand? I'm terrible at eyes.:sad2:

:lmao: I love the comment about holding your tongue just right and not breathing! LOL!

I did Ariel's face by hand. She was only about 6"x6" total, so it was too small an area to do on the machine (the smudges in the picture are from the fabric marker I used to draw the face on the fabric first). This was my first embroidery attempt and it took me so long that I have no desire to do another one anytime soon.

Good Evening! Or should I say early morning! Is it really this late???????

I got DD's next outfit done! Whew! All I can say is thank goodness the seam ripper was invented!

I really need to pratice my applique technique. It looks o.k. from a distance squinting with one eye closed in a VERY dark room!;)

I LOVE the ducky outfit!!! The applique looks great on here, and it's not even dark! :lmao:

Thanks! I have the coins ribbon somewhere... I think!

Where did you find the coin ribbon? I have looked at Fields, JoAnn and WalMart and haven't seen it.

TO EVERYONE: Why are you making outfits just to wear to Disney?! These outfits are cute and casual enough for everyday wear. If you put this much time and love into something, you should at least have your kids get some wear out if it!

I am trying to come up with a shirt for the girls pirate skirt.

anyone like this? go to your favorite auction site and search Rhinestone PIRATE PRINCESS

Do you think I can make it cheaper?

I was thinking that or taking a black tank top and having a crown appliquéd on out of the matching skull and fabric material.

Where are guts finding the ribbon trim with coins? I was going to but them individual at ac moore butt he trim looks easier lol

I tried to do a Mickey Pirate Head. It is an outline of Mickey with the hat on. I would print two and cut Mickey out and then the hat. Then I would trace onto cardboard. Cereal Boxes have a good weight. Then you do not have to worry about printer ink and you have a nice stable pattern.

Here is the Mickey someone sent to me.

I stayed up way to late smocking last night. This is really going to be a practice makes perfect kind of project. I started practicing cable stitches. The first row is a mess. I figured it out after I finished. Then I did the second row. I was not making my stitches even and tight enough at first.

Then I started the waves. The first wave was not long enough I may end up cropping that row out. The border is for the Mermaid smocking plate that will end up being Ariel!

Here is the first look.

Congratulations on finding smocking! I just love to do it. Unfortunately, my DD7 doesn't wear what I make her anymore. What book did you buy to learn with? Have you looked at any Martha Pullen things? Her magazine is full of goodies and fun pictures to get inspired with! Enjoy! BTW, PBJK dot com is a great website. Check out their customer's creations section.

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who goes a bit overboard on the Disney themed outfits for my daughter. We don't even have a trip planned but we'll need one soon if only so she'll have the perfect place to wear them. :rotfl: You ladies are all doing great jobs! I love to sew and applique so I'd be happy to answer questions if I can.

Hi! It is so nice to see you here and to see a picture of you! If you go a few pages back you'll find a picture of your beautiful Belle shirt on my daughter at the Magic Kingdom.

Walmart. They have the trim with gold coins or silver coins. You can find it by the thread racks.

This looks really good to me! I can't wait to see it finished! I so wish that I had learned smocking when my kids were babies. I spent a small fortune on smocked outfits!

Let's just say....I know you are *supposed* to pre-wash but that doesn't necessarily mean I DO pre-wash. :lmao: I tried to be a good follow directions person and ended up being more of a pain, so back to just sew with it as it is & wash it later. Much easier to wash the finished outfit than the HUGE amount of fabric I usually get.

I am really, really impressed by your creativity! You clearly put a lot of thought into these. The sketches all look fantastic! That's going to be a whole lot of sewing, but these outfits are going to be amazing when finished!

I'm by no means an expert but I'm enjoying the experience of refining my technique. :) I'd say the best way to get good results is practice - sorry, I know that's boring and sounds like a mom. I started with simple shapes, like squares, hearts, daisies, etc. and progressed from there. I finally took the "plunge" in December to try more complex designs. Here's a close-up of a t-shirt I did for my DD this spring. I did as much as possible with my sewing machine, including stitching around all the pieces of the eyes, and then added the finishing details by hand, like the black line and eyelashes on the top edge of each eye and a brown line on the lower edge, the line to show the nose and the eyebrows. I figure if DD wears it a lot, it's successful. :dance3:

WOW!!!! That's perfect!
Oh, here's the back, but on a different dress. Same pattern, just different materials.

I like it with this fabric too!

This is the last photo for tonight, I sware...I just found all of these old photos, and I got excited...

This is totally not disney related...This is a great reason to move to Florida...there are tons of these little beachy areas, and the girls love them...and they are just beautiful...this was taken at a place called the Turtle Mounds near Cape Canaveral Seashore...

Ok, that is just sweet! I love these kodak moments. :cloud9:

Aimee- Hey! There's this lady in my neighorhood offering FREE smocking lessons. I think I may give it a go! It looks time consuming.

Tom- I love the duckie outfit! Don't be skeered of the botton hole. Just practice a little. Heck, if I can do it.... ;)

This one is from last fall. I just remade these bows for her to wear with another fall outfit, that I haven't made yet. I love fur cuffs but her school doesn't. She comes home with paint, chocolate, whatever...all over them...so we save them for the weekend or special occasions...

I love the bows. I usually use only grosgrain ribbon and my selections have been limited. I will look for the nice printed ribbon this year :) Also would you mind sharing how you make the fur cuffs? I love them. Do you attach them to the shirts? Any tips you share will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You.
PS. You little girls are so cute. I really wish my DD (almost 10) didn’t think she was to grown up to dress cute again. I cringe every time we walk into a limited too

I also need help with the ears. They need cheeta Minnie mouse ears! Anyone tried this before???

Any suggestions???

If your girls will wear headbands, then I like the Minnie ears with the cheetah print bow in the center. I'd use a fairly wide black headband and I'd probably make the ears out of cotton rather than any kind of faux fur. I would cut the ear shape out of cardboard and then cover it with some batting and then stitch the ears front and back together and slide it over the form. I'm sure there are others who have done this who have better methods, but that is what I would do.

I think you could make a shirt just like this one. The rhinestones are really not difficult to work with. If you can sketch out the pattern, setting the rhinestones is the easy part.

I saw the coin trim at Wal-Mart near the thread. If I remember right, it was hanging above the thread display.

You may want to check out the website JCarolineCreative.com. They sell ribbon by the yard. Once I discovered that site it was the end of running all over town trying to find the perfect color or print ribbon to match my girls' outfits. Some of their prints are so cute!

Thanks, I have the apron from her Alice costume I made her. I just have not found the perfect Jumper pattern. I am also on the look out for a store bought 3/4 sleeve peter pan collar shirt. I am hoping with school uniforms coming up I can find one at like Target.

My DD really wants Belle's blue dress. I also want to surprise her with Megra's dress from Hercules but I am really having a tough time finding a goddess 4T pattern.

Maybe you could find a nightgown pattern to use for Megara. I did the Provincial Belle for Halloween a few years back and remember using a plain dress pattern w/a full skirt and just cut a square neck and didn't put the sleeves in, just made the armhole a little larger so it would fit over the blouse. Made two identical tops so one was the lining. I was lucky enough to find the perfect blouse in the back-to-school section, either at Wal-Mart or Target.
