Ohio John!
Sure you know the Cleveland Indians are moving into a new home shortly for Spring Training here in Arizona. The new training complex is being built only five minutes from our home. We will be adopting the Indians as our new Spring Training team to watch. Nothing beats Spring Training in Arizona. Well . . . . . . take that back, Florida would be awesome!
I can't believe Greg Oden is out for the season! WOW!
Just a quick drive by post tonight.....
V - good luck with your interview tomorrow
Noel - good luck to you too....will continue to send prayers and PD your way. Let us know that you're ok once the surgery is done.
If anyone has pixie dust to spare, could I please ask you to send it to my brother. He had a stem cell/bone marrow transplant just over 3 weeks ago, with my other brother as donor. The odds weren't good and it was part of a special research programme. He seemed to be doing well at first, but has now suffered liver and kidney failure, and is very poorly.
Good call Lisa! I agree with her V.
Lisa I didn't want to stir up hurt feelings so I didn't mention this earlier but I can't bite my tongue any longer...I felt so bad for you with what happened with your neighbor...I agree with what some said he probably had a lot of stress/pressure and took it out on you...not right! That's so sad that there are so many people like that in the world. I don't like asking people for help because of people like him (even if I desperately need it) and the one in one millionth of a chance that that would happen to me. Families/neighbors should be helping each other out not tearing each other down. At least you know where you stand with them and can avoid or be extra careful around them as much as possible in the future...it's sad because your boys are good friends
Mmm, difficult to explain. Small milk chocolate covered balls of bubbly crunchie stuff. Not biscuit. Slightly malty taste. Chocolate is quite thick too!! Will have to bring some over.
They look the same. Forgot everything is named differently there.
Well, it's 52 degrees right now (but feels much colder) and it's supposed to get in the mid 30s overnight. Here's the bad part.....when my water heater was replaced, I switched from a gas one to an electric one. So to remove the gas one, they had to shut off the gas before unhooking it. My water heater didn't have a gas shutoff just going to it, so what they shut off is also the gas to my furnace. So although the gas is turned back on, the pilot flame went out on my furnace when they shut the gas off. I think the unit is in my attic, but I have NO idea how to re-light a pilot light and would be afraid I'd blow up the house or something. SO it's going to get awfully cold overnight in my house tonight. So far it's still 64 degrees in here, but Tyler's room is nice and toasty because of the tiny electric space heater I put in there for tonight. It's one that doesn't get hot to the touch, so there's no fire hazard. It shuts off when the room reaches whatever temp I set it at, so it's safe. I get hot when I sleep, so I'll be fine, plus I have a super warm llama wool blanket to use if necessary. Tomorrow I'll find somebody to light that pilot flame for me. Brrrr!!!! (Sorry Leslie!)
Ok - tell me if you guys think this is weird:
9 year old DS had a soccer game today at noon. We were expecting out-of-town guests at 2:30pm. My DH would pick up DS, but it would have been great if someone could drop him off. The coach lives THREE houses down from us. In the three years we have lived here, we asked them to drive DS home once from some event.
So I go to the game and ask the father if he could drop off DS. He said he could, and then mentioned his son was going some place else after. I asked if it would be a problem and he said no he could drive him home.
Fast forward, DS is home and about 10 minutes after he came home I get a call from the Dad. He proceeded to tell me that he knows I have company but he wanted me to know that I put him on the spot by asking him to drive my DS home and that he had a lot on his mind coaching the team (of 9 year olds). He said it was very hard for him to drop my DS off (the field is 5 minutes from our houses). I then told him that he could have said "no" and he said the reason why he was calling is to tell me that he could not drive him (or any other child) on the team home after a game again. I told him that wasn't an issue as I won't ask.
????? I'm so frustrated - we are neighbors, three doors away and now there is like a big cement wall between us. Sad thing is our sons are good friends. But I can't deal with such passive aggressiveness - why couldn't he just said "no, I'm busy"??? My DH would have picked up my DS and there would be no worries. I tell you, makes me never want to ask for help again.
Lisa
So my friend Don was over to have a couple beers. Well, actually I had one and he had about 6 in the 2 hours he was here. He mentioned my weight loss, I told him how many pounds, and he told me I'm lucky because most women, when they lose weight, they lose it "on top" first but he noticed that area hadn't changed a bit on me and that because the weight loss was everywhere else but there, that area sticks out more (literally, he says). Yup, even men who are friends can be pigs. Then he apologized, of course, when he realized what he'd said, and told me men just speak before thinking most of the time. But good grief!!!!
Furnace in the attic??? What kind of builders do you guys have up there in Lansing? If we were not 5 hours away, I would come up and light it for you Holly - it's not that hard to do.
Good luck Vanessa Hope your interview goes well, I'm betting it will be awesome!I know you'll really impress themI need to get all the girls clothes laid out and everything ready for the morning. I am nervous about the interview. I truely hope it goes awesome. I really really need this increase.
My mom and DD do. This talent, along with several others, seem to have skipped a generation thoughDoes anyone on here enjoy cross stitching?
11 weeks, how exciting This will be my first cruise, so I am really looking forward to reading your trip report from your 1st cruise.http://www.portcanaveral.org/webcam.htm
11 weeks today and John and I will be getting ready to set off to board the Wonder!!!
I know it is not to do with this thread, but
I wish you were joining us and I didn't have to wait till next year to meet you all.
Bingo! I've spent 5 years trying to remind him constantly that I'm not interested and that we're only friends and will always only be friends. The age difference is too great (he's 12 years older than me - 49), so he's only 8 years younger than my mom. That's just too much for me to feel comfortable with. Plus, there's absolutely NO physical attraction at all. And he's too much of a heavy drinker for me to deal with. He can easily polish off a 12 pack of beer in a short amount of time. NOT something I enjoy being around. But he's very funny to be around, a very smart guy, and we enjoy hanging out once a month or so.
Well, he's told me in the past that he just can't turn off the male part of his brain, even though he knows I've made it clear I'm not interested. Whatever. Men! But I know what you mean about gay male friends. I've had tons of them and love them to death because there's no pressure at all!
I bet John1 is happy!
the inlaws, or should I say Outlawz just called....they are leaving Ohio on Tuesday to come back down....
