Just a quick drive by post tonight.....

V - good luck with your interview tomorrow

Noel - good luck to you too....will continue to send prayers and PD your way. Let us know that you're ok once the surgery is done.

Noel your surgery is tommorow:confused: Good luck with it and I pray for a quick and healthy recovery...pixie dust sent your waypixiedust:

Ohio John!

Sure you know the Cleveland Indians are moving into a new home shortly for Spring Training here in Arizona. The new training complex is being built only five minutes from our home. We will be adopting the Indians as our new Spring Training team to watch. Nothing beats Spring Training in Arizona. Well . . . . . . take that back, Florida would be awesome!

I did not know that had been finalized . . .

When I was a kid, we used to play Spring out in the cactus league, and I knew there was a chance of a move, but I had not heard it was final. It was nice having them in Winterhaven - we actually got to go to some spring training and Disney too - don't know if we will get out to AZ . . .

BTW - ordered my tickets for the playoffs - two seats for every game of the LDS, LCS, and World Series if we make it. We will keep our fingers crossed, and see how we do. Going to the Cleveland/Detroit game tomorrow night.

It has been a busy weekend, and I am way way behind. Don't know if I will read it all, or just start here. Hate to miss anything.

We had an unbelievable game for the Browns today. I expected to have the Bengals score 45 points with their high-powered offense, but who would think after last week that the Browns would score 51????:confused3

I hope those same Browns show up next week against the Raiders, who were robbed today by the Broncos.

Hey;......SNUBA, ARUBA????

I know once I searched and saw a 3 1/2 hour catamaran/snorkel/snuba excursion, but like a dumb head I didn't save or bookmark it. Now when I search, I only see 4+ hour ones. What did you find?

Did you guys see that Chad Johnson jumped into the Dawg Pound?

What an idiot!

They dumped a bunch of beer on him, but I kept thinking, he must have a death wish. Some guy down there was wearing a gold jacket, with Future HOF on the Back, and under the F, instead of Fame, it said Fugatives.

If anyone has pixie dust to spare, could I please ask you to send it to my brother. He had a stem cell/bone marrow transplant just over 3 weeks ago, with my other brother as donor. The odds weren't good and it was part of a special research programme. He seemed to be doing well at first, but has now suffered liver and kidney failure, and is very poorly.

Prayers and Pixie dust for your brother from our family . . .

Good call Lisa!:thumbsup2 I agree with her V.

Lisa I didn't want to stir up hurt feelings so I didn't mention this earlier but I can't bite my tongue any longer...I felt so bad for you with what happened with your neighbor...I agree with what some said he probably had a lot of stress/pressure and took it out on you...not right!:sad2: That's so sad that there are so many people like that in the world. I don't like asking people for help because of people like him (even if I desperately need it) and the one in one millionth of a chance that that would happen to me. Families/neighbors should be helping each other out not tearing each other down. At least you know where you stand with them and can avoid or be extra careful around them as much as possible in the future...it's sad because your boys are good friends:sad1:

You want to hear the icing on the cake? They have 4 children, all the same age as ours! Our second to youngest is in preschool with their second to youngest. We had our babies about 4 months apart. So we have 12 more years together as I know they aren't moving. Hindsight of course, but I should have never asked him for help. I always knew the wife was a bit odd and not very friendly, but he has always been very friendly. For some reason, I thought he might be more normal even though she isn't, but since I had received that vibe from the wife (and was warned by other neighbors when we move in about her) I should have known he wasn't much different than her - just hides it better. People end up together for a reason and if half the apple is bad, chances are the other half isn't much better. My DH of course just says I should pray for them - which we all know is the way to go. But sometimes, it feels good just to vent and I want to thank my DIS family that I could do so on the boards without being judged. Thank you!
Lisa

Mmm, difficult to explain. Small milk chocolate covered balls of bubbly crunchie stuff. Not biscuit. Slightly malty taste. Chocolate is quite thick too!! Will have to bring some over.

I got home from the game tonight, and because of this posting, Amy went and got some at World Market. Better than malted milk balls!

Well, it's 52 degrees right now (but feels much colder) and it's supposed to get in the mid 30s overnight. :cold: Here's the bad part.....when my water heater was replaced, I switched from a gas one to an electric one. So to remove the gas one, they had to shut off the gas before unhooking it. My water heater didn't have a gas shutoff just going to it, so what they shut off is also the gas to my furnace. So although the gas is turned back on, the pilot flame went out on my furnace when they shut the gas off. I think the unit is in my attic, but I have NO idea how to re-light a pilot light and would be afraid I'd blow up the house or something. SO it's going to get awfully cold overnight in my house tonight. So far it's still 64 degrees in here, but Tyler's room is nice and toasty because of the tiny electric space heater I put in there for tonight. It's one that doesn't get hot to the touch, so there's no fire hazard. It shuts off when the room reaches whatever temp I set it at, so it's safe. I get hot when I sleep, so I'll be fine, plus I have a super warm llama wool blanket to use if necessary. Tomorrow I'll find somebody to light that pilot flame for me. Brrrr!!!! (Sorry Leslie!)

Furnace in the attic??? What kind of builders do you guys have up there in Lansing? If we were not 5 hours away, I would come up and light it for you Holly - it's not that hard to do.

Ok - tell me if you guys think this is weird:

9 year old DS had a soccer game today at noon. We were expecting out-of-town guests at 2:30pm. My DH would pick up DS, but it would have been great if someone could drop him off. The coach lives THREE houses down from us. In the three years we have lived here, we asked them to drive DS home once from some event.

So I go to the game and ask the father if he could drop off DS. He said he could, and then mentioned his son was going some place else after. I asked if it would be a problem and he said no he could drive him home.

Fast forward, DS is home and about 10 minutes after he came home I get a call from the Dad. He proceeded to tell me that he knows I have company but he wanted me to know that I put him on the spot by asking him to drive my DS home and that he had a lot on his mind coaching the team (of 9 year olds). He said it was very hard for him to drop my DS off (the field is 5 minutes from our houses). I then told him that he could have said "no" and he said the reason why he was calling is to tell me that he could not drive him (or any other child) on the team home after a game again. I told him that wasn't an issue as I won't ask.

????? I'm so frustrated - we are neighbors, three doors away and now there is like a big cement wall between us. Sad thing is our sons are good friends. But I can't deal with such passive aggressiveness - why couldn't he just said "no, I'm busy"??? My DH would have picked up my DS and there would be no worries. I tell you, makes me never want to ask for help again.
Lisa

All I can say is "what a goof"!

As a coach on my son's team several years ago, I drove kids all over the place and home many times. The ONLY thing I EVER got ticked about was when parents didn't ask, and I was stuck there waiting with their child and they showed up a 1/2 hour late. I would always tell them if they just asked, I would bring the kids home.

So my friend Don was over to have a couple beers. Well, actually I had one and he had about 6 in the 2 hours he was here. :sad2: He mentioned my weight loss, I told him how many pounds, and he told me I'm lucky because most women, when they lose weight, they lose it "on top" first but he noticed that area hadn't changed a bit on me and that because the weight loss was everywhere else but there, that area sticks out more (literally, he says). Yup, even men who are friends can be pigs. :sad2:  Then he apologized, of course, when he realized what he'd said, and told me men just speak before thinking most of the time. But good grief!!!! :sad2:

I think six beers can have a pretty liberating effect on the tongue.

1 of ours is in the attic, but it is very easy to get to. The 2 in the bsement are the hard ones because of the way they are positioned.

I need to get all the girls clothes laid out and everything ready for the morning. I am nervous about the interview. I truely hope it goes awesome. I really really need this increase.
Good luck Vanessa:thumbsup2 Hope your interview goes well, I'm betting it will be awesome!I know you'll really impress them:)

Bingo! I've spent 5 years trying to remind him constantly that I'm not interested and that we're only friends and will always only be friends. The age difference is too great (he's 12 years older than me - 49), so he's only 8 years younger than my mom. That's just too much for me to feel comfortable with. Plus, there's absolutely NO physical attraction at all. And he's too much of a heavy drinker for me to deal with. He can easily polish off a 12 pack of beer in a short amount of time. NOT something I enjoy being around. But he's very funny to be around, a very smart guy, and we enjoy hanging out once a month or so.

I would agree with all of that except that 49 is old . . . he's just a couple of years older than me! I mean, look at what that Donald Trump guy does!

Well, he's told me in the past that he just can't turn off the male part of his brain, even though he knows I've made it clear I'm not interested. Whatever. Men! But I know what you mean about gay male friends. I've had tons of them and love them to death because there's no pressure at all!

Doesn't work for me . . .

I bet John1 is happy!

You Bet!

And the weather at the Browns game?

Just about as perfect as you could want. 65 degrees, sunny, and only 50% humidity. When the sun came around to our side, I had to take off my fleece pullover.

Alex and I had a BLAST at the game.
