Sept, Oct, Nov F&W Meets - Will There Be Disers At Your Event?

DH and I will be at PFTS on Sept. 29th. It's my first trip to Disney, so it's my first F&W, my first PFTS, my first day there, my first EVERYTHING! :cheer2:

We land around one that day, if the airline gods smile upon us, and they usually don't. We go through (where is that bowing down smiley??) Charlotte.

It sounds like I'm going to be way outdressed...look for my pink crocs (crappy feet means ugly shoes), and something pink (I don't have this screen name for nothing!), and a LGMH somewhere!

How exciting to attend PFTS on your first night in WDW!! DH and I will be there that night, too (he hates WDW, but loved F&W & PFTS 2 years ago, so I'm getting him back again for the weekend) - I'll be dressed in black and white (with black crocks!). Hope we see your LGMH and get to say 'hi'!

We'll be there too -

I'll have my red MM crocs! (plantar fascia - love the crocs for long standing events, like the Party!!)

WE loved PFTS 2 years ago, last year, not so much,, I have HIGH hopes for this year!! I emailed asking that they considering giving us boxes to bring our glassware home - I got the rudist message - something to the effect, "this years party is all planned, no changes will be made" of course, now that I type it it doesnt sound rude at all!! :rotfl2: I hope I remember to pack a box a nd paper to wrap them in this year!

I'm so glad that you mentioned this!!! My DH & I were just talking about how we were going to get our wine glasses home! We'll have 5 of them to transport. I guess I'll look into bringing a wine glass box with us and then having them shipped home. Hmmmm....

Thanks for the crocs replies! :grouphug: Maybe I will wear mine after all! :goodvibes The last thing I want to do is get more blisters in WDW! LOL! :rotfl:

I never thought about taking anything to pack the glasses:scared:

Another thing for the list! I can't wait until all of you 9/29 Partiers get back to give us all the tips!!

Getting those glasses home safely last year was a chore! I asked for something to wrap them up & no one could help. They ended wrapped up in newspapers I got at the hotel & with the dirty laundry packed all around them! They were fine, thank goodness. We'll be driving this year, so it won't be such a problem.

Back to shoes. I wish I was going to the same party with all of you Croc wearing gals!!! I have plantar fasciitis so it's nothing but Birks for me. I already have these. Do y'all think they are too ugly to wear with a cute skirt?

And I just bought these?

I have a rhinestone buckle on another pair like these (baby blue pair) that I never wear. I'm thinking of having the rhinestone buckle put on the black sandals to dress them up. These would probably be my most comfortable option. What do y'all think?

I think that would be cute.
I"m actually debating on wearing my black mary jane crocs with my black dress. Although, my mother may not let me go like that on the 10/13th. I konw my father wouldn't care.

As far as glasses coming home goes, I haven't given it much thought. I will have 2 glasses (unless my mother gives me hers, then 3) I'll prolly just wrap them in dirty clothes. Thats how I got my glass survies and wine bottles home from Africa and if that worked for those, I'm sure it will be fine for the glasses.

I don't know how old your kids are, but they won't give kids a wine glass unless they have proof they are of legal drinking age. They give out a Mickey Mouse sippy type of cup to all kids (even the teens). At least this is what they did in years past through last year. Here's what the cups look like for the under 21 crowd:

I agree though...they really should offer something for you to take your wine glass home safely like they do if you buy the souvenir mug/glass at CRT. Maybe next year they will institute something. Like others, we wedge the glasses in with laundry and have never had a problem with breakage (yet-lol!).

This will be my first PFTS so I'm not sure how big the glasses are but what about a mailing tube? Like they have at the Post Office? If it's large enough diameter.:confused3

I don't know how I would feel if I was a teen and had to carry about a sippy cup. :sad2:

Last years glass measures 9 1/2" tall by 3 1/2" at the widest point. HTH!

My oldest is 17...he wasn't thrilled, but he got over it. :rotfl: If I didn't drink, it wouldn't bother me to carry one either...but then I'm the woman that will run around the park wearing my Minnie Mouse ears...so I guess you can't go by me...I'm not easily embarrassed.

Good wear your black crocs so I'll feel better about my birks!!! ;) I see I'm not the only person who packed glasses & wine in with the dirty clothes!

Lori, Last year's glass was probably to big to fit in a mailing tube. Wait, I'll measure it..... 11 1/4 inch around at the widest spot & 9 1/2 tall. I hunted all over for some like this the same size last year. They are very nice glasses from Schott Zweisel. I did buy some Schott Zweisel titanium glasses but they are a little bit larger than the F&W ones.

I don't know how I would feel if I was a teen and had to carry about a sippy cup. :sad2:

I don't know what else they could do for teens. Maybe just a plastic cup & hold the wine glass for pickup after the Party. Are they charging the same price for under $18? That would stink!

Let me clarify my glass measurement, 9 1/2 inches tall & 11 1/4 inch DIAMETER! ;)

I called DH and asked what he thought about getting glasses home. Other than him being stunned 1.) that I called and asked his opinion and 2.) We get souvie glasses... His answer was " Run over to the hardware store and see if they have any scrap pvc.":lmao: Yeah, I'm gonna travel with a 4" x 20" pvc tube in my luggage- that won't worry TSA at all!:lmao: :rotfl2:

But thanks for the help dear!:lmao:

At least he didn't say with endcaps and plumbing glue....men!:lmao:

:rotfl: Okay, that's better...I was just thinking...hmmmm...how could I make a mistake of nearly 8"? :rotfl2: Then I wrapped the tape measure around the glass and see how you came up with 11 1/4". You answered my question before I could even ask. :thumbsup2

:rotfl: :lmao: I'm sitting here laughing my butt off!!! :lmao: Yeah try explaining that one to security!

I really think the glasses are made with that new titanium crystal. I was amazed that they didn't get broken packed in the luggage! So I went on a hunt for Schott Zwiesel glasses & found they made this new less breakable but very thin & nice crystal. Soo, that's another expense I can blame on Disney! ;)

:rotfl: I must have been measuring while you were typing. Then I posted it & saw your reply! I thought everyone is going to think I'm a total idiot & can't measure a darn glass!!!

I don't really think they ever anticipated much of any kids attending PFTS, at least that is IMO. I say this because whenever we go, they have to send someone to fetch the cups for the kids-they are not right at the table with the wine glasses. I think the reason they won't give out the wine glasses is for legal reasons since they are not id'ing anyone once inside and theoretically an almost, but not quite 21 kid could get served. Not sure how it would work to ask them to hold the glass until you leave since the table that is set up when you enter, where all the glasses are given out, is not there when you leave the party. They charge the same price no matter adult or child for the party. I certainly would love the option of getting a Dixie cup for the kids and then picking up wine glasses afterwards, maybe this is a suggestion to Disney for next year (or to at least offer a more attractive alternative to teens than a sippy cup). :confused3

OMG...beadpirate...your DH cracks me up! Yes, I think airport security might be a little suspicious...if we hear about this on the news, we know what happened and who it was! :rotfl:

I don't know how the teens feel about the cup? I think it's a pretty cute cup & would carry it around the park myself! I just have to fill it with an adult beverage!

It would bother me a lot to be paying full price for the kids & not get at least a set of nice wine glasses out of it!
