I am planning a vacation to WDW this December. While I make frequent trips to Disney I have never been during the holiday season and have never stayed at the lodge. Reading all these wonderful posts about how beautiful the lodge is at Christmas has had a huge influence on my decision to stay there.

Here go some questions-

1) I have read that there are lobby rooms. What exactly do these rooms look like and what view would they be categorized as?

2) Where is the MK located in relation to the wings? Is it on the North or South side of the wing? Which wing do I need to stay in to have a view of the castle?

3) In your opinion, where are the best rooms located? I usually go for water view rooms

4) Are there special holiday activities that go on at the lodge?

5) As of now I am debating between going the first or second week of December this year. How are the crowds and the weather?

Thanks in advance for your help. I just want to make sure I know what I am talking about before I go ahead and book this trip. Happy New Year!

Thanks for those great photos. We loved our stay at the Lodge in Dec., but when we walked over to the Villas to check out Walt's trains, we were on :cloud9: It seemed so quiet and peacful, yet had all the ammenities of the lodge just steps away. Someday.....

They are the same type/size room as all of the rooms...I believe they are all standard and woods view rooms. The difference is that they open overlooking the lobby VS in a hallway like the rooms in the wings.2)

If you want a chance at seeing the castle, you would want Woods View, north wing upper floor. There are fewer and fewer rooms that you can still see the castle as the trees are gertting taller. There are quite a few upper level north wing rooms whare you can see some of the fireworks, though
3) In your opinion, where are the best rooms located? I usually go for water view rooms
We had inner courtyard #2157. It was all the way down at the end of the south wing, but on the same floor as the Mercantile and lobby, so no waiting for elevators. We went right down th back stairs to the pool and over the bridge to the boat dock. Our view was the pool and hot tubs, with part of the bridge over to the geyser, but we couldn't actually see the geyser from our balcony. This was a bunk bed room that connected to 2159 with 2 queens.
4) Are there special holiday activities that go on at the lodge?
There are more the later you get into Dec. The decorations were absolutely beautiful! They had some Christmas crafts in the afternoon in the Cubs Den, and one day at lunch, the kids took part in gingerbread cookir decorating in Roaring Forks.5) As of now I am debating between going the first or second week of December this year. How are the crowds and the weather?
We love going the first week in Dec..went in 2005 and 2007...in 05 it was unseasonably cool...low 40's at night and 60's in the day. In 07, the weather was beautiful....80-85 in the day and 50's one evening, but it was usually a low of 60 ish....the kids swam 2 nights. Dec. in WDW is unpredictable weather wise...pack a little of everything and you'll be fine. We didn't have any issues with crowds, although it was more crowded this year than in 2005. Check the Pop Warner website for their calendar and try to avoid that week if possible, although we were thare for part of it, and had no problems.

Have fun!!!

YIPEEE!!! We just finished booking our May trip to the lodge!!! :goodvibes We just got back from our December trip a few weeks ago and it only took a couple of days to start planning our next one.
We LOVE the lodge!!!:lovestruc Just over 4 months until we are back!!
We also made all our dining reservations and got everything but Chef Mickey's (all they had was 7:35 pm or later and we like to eat our dinners around 5:00 or 5:30...oh well)

I am trying to get my room request set for my upcoming trip, and had a quick question. Is the south wing the one closest to the boat dock? The north wing is the one closest to the Villas, correct?

Just wanted to resubscribe by saying I find myself missing the WL more and more everyday! I feel the need to tell everyone I know all about it! haha...funny for someone who didn't think she'd like it! I can't wait to go back to the world and have the possibility of staying there again, nothing so far measures up!

No just the opposite the North Wing is closest to the boat dock and the South Wing is closest to the Villas.

They have all three room views available off the main Lobby. Look at the map on page 1 of this thread for locations.

Beautiful pics Nicole :thumbsup2

Does the WL have any pins other than the totem pole pin? I like to get one on each of my trips, and we already have the totem pole pin, will there be another one to get for this trip?

Also, do they still have the pin trading spot in the lobby of the WL?

Thanks!:goodvibes

Beautiful Pics! I am getting more and more excited about staying there!

Ok, silly question time. Has anyone shipped a box ahead of time and it not been delivered? We are considering shipping a box of snacks, ponchos, toiletries, ect ahead of time and I have this fear of it getting lost. Silly, I know, but humor me.

Quick Question - I have a woods view room booked for 9 nights.

If possible, would you rather stay woods view on the north wing overlooking otter pond OR woods view over the lobby?

We like to be with the action but I was wondering what the woods view difference is from one end of the resort to the other.

Thanks for any input. This is our firt WL visit.

Hockeybabe- I was there at the end of October and bought a pin that had a canoe with Mickey, Donald and I think Goofy in it. It had the WL logo on the bottom of the canoe. And yes, they did have the pin trading spot in the lobby.

I was thinking about staying in a lobby room for my next visit. If you have stayed in one can you please tell me your thoughts? What are the views like from these rooms?

I like to be where the action is. Are the lobby rooms like that or are the balcony views from the lobby rooms quiet and not so great?

In December I bought a canoe pin with Chip N Dale wearing feathered headbands and the WL logo.

We had a lobby view room in September that was just beside the chimney and had a courtyard view. I've been there a bunch of times and this was the best room yet. It is great to open the door and step out and watch the lobby. We were on the 4th floor and had no noise issues.

Hi guys! I'm a frequent WL guest, and I'm heading back in May of this year. I just booked a CY bunkbed room, can anyone tell me what room numbers have the bunks or where to find the info? We're traveling with another family that has a std. view booked and I'm wondering if we can still be close together.
Thanks!

I too am going to WL this year and have booked a bunkbed courtyard room. I was curoius if anyone knows where these rooms are located, especially if anyone knows about the upper floors. We are going June 29th to July 7th to celebrate my DH and my 10th Anniversary. We were married on the Sunrise Terrace at Wilderness Lodge. It's so cool to be able to bring our little "cubs" back to see where mommy and daddy got married!

We stayed standard view in September. There was a CY bunkbed room directly across the hall from us. This was on the 4th floor.

I was wondering if the lodge has any special events for the 4th of July? We are going to be there then and the parks will be crazy I imagine.
