Hi Jo:

There are car rental desks are at the baggage area to check in. All the rental companys have busses that take you to their lots. Check with Enterprise, they have a big presence out here, maybe they are bit more competitive. They have been good to me in the past.

I wouldn't use Ridemax. Here is the reason why: At the hub, there is a ride wait time board that lists all the major rides and their times up to the minute. The CMs there get wait times radioed to them all day long from the ride OPs. This is what we check everytime we go there and plan accordingly.

Memorial Day weekend is going to be busy - if you don't want to go commando - hit the rides and attractions that are original to DL like Matterhorn, Alice In Wonderland, Finding Nemo, Toad Wild Ride, Indiana Jones, Tiki Room, etc. Also you don't want to miss Believe Fireworks, Parade of Dreams and Fantasmic. You can still see a lot without going nuts.

Do you want to eat at Blue Bayou maybe? Let me know so we can reserve a time.

DCA doesn't get quite as busy as DL. I would do DCA on Monday - DL might even hit capacity on MD. Saturday and Sunday are great days for touring LA.
However, the TV shows do not tape on those days. You can still see a lot of things around town though.

I hope this helps.

Do you know which rental car companies are actually in the LAX terminal? I don't want to have to go forever to get to one. I found a rental through Budget for right at $200 (full size, through SW) but it will be more b/c I have to have the GPS. blonde space cadet, and all.
:)

Also, tell me if you think I need a touring plan like through Ridemax. I just know it's going to be crowded. I'm thinking we'll do the parks Friday, Sunday (maybe) and Monday? Leaving Saturday open for touring around or Sunday as well.

I really don't want to be commando like I am at WDW, more relaxed would be a nice change of pace.

Oh gosh I have so many questions.

Jo

Well, maybe I will be going commando, Seacrest! Sounds like Memorial Day weekend is not the time for a "relaxing" vacation.:lmao:

Blue Bayou, absolutely. Been intrigued ever since you talked about taking your MIL there. How far out for ressies do you need?

What about Fantasmic??? I read that there's really no seating unless you do a Dessert seating, either Riverside or Balcony for around $60 pp? Do We need to do that?? It had better be the best dang dessert ever. :)

My cousin's boyfriend works for Enterprise. I'm gonna see if he can get me a good code of some sort.

I'll ask Mark tonight about Leno, see if that's something he definitely wants to do. I know that i will be up every morning at 2am, I am so used to waking so early here on the East coast. Then around 6 pm, I'll have a crash. Starbucks is in the Mariott hotel...:rolleyes1

How much is it to park at DL? It's $20/ day at the hotel.

Okay, enough for now. I could go on forever.

I knew I could count on you!!!

well, I haven't found a good code for rental cars for the May trip, but I just got a standard SUV (Trailblazer) for nine days for our October trip for $260.
Not too bad, I don't think, but would loooove it to be under $200.

Jo

Okay, Shelly must be sick... she hasn't been on all day....

:grouphug:

Hey DMM!

I like to make the reservations for BB at least 3 months in advance.

Not necessary to spring for Fantasmic dessert to get good seats or standing area. We go to the second show right after the fireworks and always stand on the bridge that goes over the entrance of POTC. It is front and center of the show and you have no obstructions.

Parking at DL is 11$ in the Mickey and Friends structure. But you have a free shuttle from your hotel to DL. No need to move your car and spend extra money. We have also have a parking pass - we can pick you up at the hotel if you like.

Hello Mayers

I'm going in May this year with my mom the week of Mother's Day. Are the parks really busy on Mother's Day? Magic Kingdom has EMH evening that day I was thinking of going, but I've been reading that many people avoid those days. :confused3

Welcome CleKait!

:welcome:

Last year we went to MK on Mother's Day. We were there at opening. We stayed pretty late into the afternoon. Then we went back to the resort for a rest and hopped over to Epcot for a very late dinner at Le Cellier (like 8:40 p.m.) We won dream fast passes on our first ride - Space Mountain! So we stayed very late that day trying to use our dream passes and ride other rides we wanted to ride.

I didn't think it was very crowded. Of course crowds grow as the day goes on. Weekends are usually more crowded than week days. Epcot usually has a Mother's Day brunch which I think may make it more crowded in the morning on Mother's Day.

Jo - Weren't you there Mother's Day? Isn't that when we met in real life?

Have a great day tomorrow!

I am going to the Museum of Discovery with my dd's class from school. It should be fun.

DS is leaving to go on a weekend outing to a ranch in Oklahoma. He leaves tomorrow and gets back on Monday. Big stuff. My little boy is growing up!

NC you will be OK... take deep breaths... he's not so little anymore...
