words fail me

I'm happy for you Penny!

I'd agree....VERY intense and exciting ending  ....Tom was pretty good too

Okay kiddos..... preparing to watch House and go to bed :cloud9:
Preparing/expecting to be fired from HH tomorrow OR quit....we'll see which ;) (either way...should make for an interesting morning :rolleyes1 )

I agree that it was one of the most interesting, exciting Super Bowls that I've ever seen.

I'm waiting anxiously to hear about how things go today. :hyper:

Anyone care to share their favorite Superbowl commercial....

I don't think that they were fantastic this year,

but my fave was the one with the Budweiser Clydesdale one who was trying out for the team but didn't make the cut. Then the dalmatian and horse were training to Rocky music....in a word...awesome!

I liked the Budweiser on too and I agree that the commercials as a whole weren't as great as we expect for the Super Bowl.

i liked the one for the water.
when the one lizard ate the grasshoper i laughed for a long time.

I liked the water one too... BUT, I spent most of the commercial thinking, "They had to edit that one very carefully to try to hide the fact that the girl can NOT dance." :rotfl:

I liked the water one too.

I am almost admitting sheepishly that I liked the Justin Timberlake commercial. :lmao:

Since you are admitting it, I'll admit it too. There was just something about watching him in that ridiculous cartoonish stuff that was, well, funny.

We had the game on at work. Living in NJ, most were Giants fans. It was hard not to get caught up in the 4th quarter, especially after that amazing catch by that Giants guy with the funny name ....

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

And by the way, looking forward to hearing about your job situation. Am I right that HH stands for Hell-hole?;)

Yes, HH is the Hell Hole office job.

Happy Trails on your last travel week! I have my box-o-crap ready to send to our CPA. See what a good girl I am? ;)

Oh, and if you're interested in even more work saga .... Skip this whole post if you're not! :goodvibes

Do any of you guys know anyone like this? Can anyone explain this mentality? I really don't understand it.

Oh, yeah. I think every office has someone (or several someones) like that. I can just imagine the fun of watching the scavengers try to find food. I bet some of them came hungry anticipating that there would be plenty to feed on.

At one office where I used to work, if I ever had anything in my kitchen that I didn't want to eat (or didn't need to eat), I would take it and dump it in the break room. Didn't matter what it was, it was gone before lunchtime.

I remember once taking in my ex-MILs peanut butter fudge. First, ex-MIL couldn't cook, so it was awful stuff. Second, I didn't need several pounds of fudge sitting around, even if it was inedible.

The fudge was gone by 10am. Really awful fudge. Gone in less than 2 hours. :confused3

Congrats to all you Giants fans. Decent game. Commercials okay but not spectacular. My favorite was same as Katies.

New computer problem - dogs running around and ran across it. Now I am missing a letter, not real important or in many words (sure)! It is between "G" and "I". :headache: :sad2: Yep it was a very important letter. :scared:

We seem to have more than our share of computer problems around here. Computers and teeth. I hope you get it fixed soon Lori.

Oh, and for some reason I liked the Tide to Go commercial where the guy's stain was such a distraction. And the car that was so quiet they put the guy inside it with the sleeping badgers. Both those made me laugh.

in the cb, alex has a thread.

this is what he had determined for the future for all threads.

Please Read- Long Threads
Sorry for the delay on this, we had to have a piece of software custom written to cut up the existing long threads.
We have also decided how to handle long threads moving forward:
1. Threads will be closed at 250 pages (3750 posts)
2. Any existing thread over 250 pages will be locked as is.
3. The really long threads that were removed will come back over the next week or so. I have to shut the boards down to cut them up so I will try to do it during "off hours". We are also trying index them so people will be able to reference them.

I hope everyone is enjoying the much faster boards!

morning homies

Morning Lawrence! I hope things are better for Mary Eva today.

doesn't look like it, this week is already spoken for @ DHs work & he'd have to take it off unpaid (and possibly be reprimanded @ work:headache: ; he's asking though).

idiot SIL is mad because he can't tell her def. yet:confused3 ; evidently she's tos distraut to drive (& DH doesn't feel like driving, although he'll certainly take a ride from us). This from the woman who not only wouldn't visit her mother in nursing home unless we physically drug her (said it was too depressing/hard on her:sad2: )...but didn't help plan, pay for or GO to her own mother's funeral :rolleyes1  thus far i have kept my yap shut, going to be hard though to keep the peace for dh's sake

I'm so sorry to hear about another death so close to you Janet. Your SIL sounds like a real prize. There is one in every box, you know. :headache:

Well, folks. It is a yucky rainy (but warm) day here today. I still have the blahs. AND IF MY PHONE RINGS ONE MORE TIME WITH SOME POLITICAL ANNOUNCEMENT ON IT I THINK I'M GONNA SCREAM!

Maybe I'll head out and do some basic shopping or something. I don't seem to be getting anything done around here anyway.

Lori, I think you should start writing in code. Substitute the #8 for every letter "h" or something. 0r "+". Or Do |-|. We'll get it!

I hate moochers too. I understand if someone has fallen on rough times. I get that. But none of my colleagues are hurting for $$ -- in fact, since they are on permanent night tour, they get paid 10% more than most of us! Soooooo sad.

Hmmmmmm, wonder what Barb's 10K post will be too.

I am betting that she announces that she's told HH to take this job and shove it and she's moving her family to FL where she is going to work lost and found with Bev as her mentor .... just a guess.

Okay although I am on a different computer at a friends office right now (and will be a lot) when I am home I will use the 8 for an H. I hope you guys can figure out what I am trying to say. I really don't think I want to continue to copy and paste H's from someones post.

So Barb is going to work with Bev now huh? Sounds like a great job.

i was going to say be a bartender at margarittaville but jodie has that job sewn up..........

I thought Jodie's job was going to be at NBA City.:confused3 If so I will take the Margarittaville job.

So funny ... that would be a good job. Especially with the amount of convention goers that go through there.

However, I think I would like to work the front desk at either HRH or RPR. Seriously. Mike is going to be a Bell Hop. Those are going to be our part time jobs when we retire to FL when I'm 52. :goodvibes

Would Barb be ALLOWED to work at Margaritaville since she's never had a Cheeseburger in Paradise????

MMMMMMMM, Cheeseburger in Paradise!

in the cb, alex has a thread.

So I guess that means we are fixing to get shut down. Glad we have the new home to go to already.

Good morning Homies. Shhhh, Jodie's still sleepin'.

Mornin' Fletch! Mornin' everyone else!

Good mornin' Fletch and the Gang!

Went back to bed about 1:30, so got a few hours sleep. I know I will have no trouble sleeping tonight!

On the road again today. But I will check back in tonight. I can't miss Barb's milestone post or his story about her job.:cool1:

Have a nice day:)

Jennifer

Have a great week. Where are you staying this week?

a life "well-lived" will that do that to you...we geriatics may have tons of wrinkles & gray hair...but the earning them was fun-indeed;)

will bbl & regroup...got word shortly before the game began that DH's uncle had passed on:sad1: . He was @ least 90, still it's always a shock.

DHs family is from the south, relocated to arlington after the Civil War. Uncle Da (named for president of confederacy Jefferson Davis was a great guy; genteel eccentric-always quick with a joke/kind word to all-he will be missed).

Yep, earning them was fun. He did look awful though. I didn't like the beard. But man did he sound good!

Sorry about dh's uncle. :grouphug:

doesn't look like it, this week is already spoken for @ DHs work & he'd have to take it off unpaid (and possibly be reprimanded @ work:headache: ; he's asking though).

Good luck keeping quiet. I know how hard that is to do. She sounds like a real peach!

I'm glad someone was around to slap Katie... er... I mean explain to Katie who Tom Petty is.

Tom Petty was always butt ugly. Add the years of *ahem* chemical experimentation and, yeah, he is almost frightening now.

Still sounds good. I have seen him live several times over the years. He always puts on a helluva show.

Hearing American Girl sometimes makes me think of Silence of the Lambs. You know, that scene where the girl (who will later be taken hostage) is driving along and jamming to the car radio playing... American Girl.

I loved American Girl. Have only seen Silence of hte Lambs once so thankfully it doesn't remind me of that movie. OF course it probably will now! :headache:

Since you are admitting it, I'll admit it too. There was just something about watching him in that ridiculous cartoonish stuff that was, well, funny.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Somehow I missed that one. Guess I'll have to go to myspace to see it.

Barb - Hope everything is going okay for you!

Have a great day everyone!

Lawrence - Morning! Hope Mary EVa is feeling better.

Well at least my teeth are doing okay. (knock on wood) This problem probably won't get fixed. I will be getting the other computer back or a new one to replace it this weekend.

The tide commercial was interesting and I liked the badger one.

Well, folks. It is a yucky rainy (but warm) day here today. I still have the blahs. AND IF MY PHONE RINGS ONE MORE TIME WITH SOME POLITICAL ANNOUNCEMENT ON IT I THINK I'M GONNA SCREAM!

Have fun shopping!

hi all, more preoccupied than usual today i'm afraid...

forgot to ask re St. L's wife:wizard:

i've posted "some" of Isla Roatan TR thread, will try for more later

how 'bout them Giants? I hate, hate, hate (plaxico-big mouth buffoon; thought he'd blown it for sure; redeemed himself).

I'm kickin myself for not taking the spread now:headache:(only in on big polls we tanked) , know both my older 2 DSs bet; must've won big - suspiciously silent. I can't call the kettle back & tell them not to gamble entirely, just tell them it must be funded by their entertainment budget NOT operating funds.

OK, just a heads up. This thread will be locked tonight so if someone can find the other thread you started or start a new thread to continue, that would be great. Whenever a thread gets to 250 pages it will be locked and a new thread would need to start. I posted an explanation thread on the board.

But here it is in case you missed the thread:
Updates on Long threads from WMAlex

Tricia, please dont hang up if this giants fan calls you.

also, can we have a Carol Update?:grouphug:

Part duex is on it's way soon, huh? Can we link to this thread and still be able to go back and reference it if we want?

phamton - I needed some ice, pressed the button and none came out! ;)

By the way will you be able to join Barb & & I (and possibly Lawrence) for a dinner in July?

Penny - Are you on :cloud9: today?

Having Barb start the new thread for her 10,000 post would be cool. I wonder if she'll get the message in time?

Carol is doing well. She is healing and still has bad days, but she is doing pretty good.

She met with her oncologist for the first time post surgery last week. She will have 6 rounds of 2 different kinds of chemo, so she won't be done with chemo until at least June. The way the doctor explained it, the sarcoma cells are still floating around in Carol's body. They got the mass, where the cells were gathering, growing and mutating... but they still need to kill off the free floating stuff.

For the first time, Carol asked what her odds on survival are. Dr. Jay (her oncologist) said that before surgery, her odds for surviving were about 40%. Now that she has come through the surgery and they removed the mass, her odds for surviving are about 60%. Not exactly overwhelming odds, but I told Carol that she has always been above average. :)

faster boards? i thought it was because my computer if finally fixed:lmao:

believe mac has a room @ the inn waiting for us:thumbsup2 , a safehouse for homies - she's smrt

For right now she is doing better and went to work today and all she said was bothering her was her back and she has gotten back her appitite cause she wanted some taco bell before she went to work :lmao: so I think it may have been some kinda virus and hope she is over it and I keep my fingers crossed on that.

Your going to leave us in suspense???

:rolleyes1

barb is reaching a posting milestone.

my team won.

what an evening this has been.

:yay:

Anyone care to share their favorite Superbowl commercial....

I don't think that they were fantastic this year,

but my fave was the one with the Budweiser Clydesdale one who was trying out for the team but didn't make the cut. Then the dalmatian and horse were training to Rocky music....in a word...awesome!

I liked the water one too.

I am almost admitting sheepishly that I liked the Justin Timberlake commercial. :lmao:

I too didn't think the commercials were that great this year, but I do think it's brilliant marketing to have them all on You Tube after the game. :thumbsup2

We had the game on at work. Living in NJ, most were Giants fans. It was hard not to get caught up in the 4th quarter, especially after that amazing catch by that Giants guy with the funny name ....

We ate way too much today, and had quite a bit of fun for being stuck at work during the game. I actually had more fun at work that I would've had at home. Had I been at home, the game wouldn't even have been on!

Can you imagine if ALL the homies got together for SuperBowl?? :scared1: What a PARTY THAT would be :rolleyes1 I'm glad you enjoyed your evening Jodie...sometimes it's the 'people' that make the difference ;)

Wow - Barb did not immediately post after hitting 9999. Barb - you must be spending your time thinking up witty remarks for your milestone post.
And by the way, looking forward to hearing about your job situation. Am I right that HH stands for Hell-hole?

::yes::

OK, so there are 3-4 people who are on a permanent night shift who are ... I can't even describe them. Pigs?

You know the kind of people I'm talking about, right?

Anyway, we had dinner for our evening tour on Thursday night.

So, fast forward to tonight's big feast, where there were lots and lots of left overs. I watched the clock, and a half hour before night tour was to come in, we all made a huge game of putting everything away and hiding it. Every last blessed morsel of food and cleaned like you wouldn't know we had a party at all.

Then, when night tour came in, we set up chairs and watched them scope the floor trying to figure out where the food was. (Ok, you had to be there, but trust me, it was comical.) Those of us on evening tour didn't say a blessed word; just enjoyed watching them trying to figure out if we polished off everything (which never happens). The confusion was utterly priceless. When one of them asked, "Didn't you have a Super Bowl party?" we simply said, "yes." They didn't ask how the party was or anything, but were once again pathetically looking for "free food."

Do any of you guys know anyone like this? Can anyone explain this mentality? I really don't understand it.

:lmao: What a story!! I SO wish I would have been there!! You guys did the right thing..... This mentality is: el cheapo freeloader-er..... plain as that. Something for free?? I'm SO there :thumbsup2 Glad you were able to 1 up them ;) They were SO expecting food..... too bad they didn't get the 'hint' :sad2:

New computer problem - dogs running around and ran across it. Now I am missing a letter, not real important or in many words (sure)! It is between "G" and "I". :headache: Yep it was a very important letter. :scared:

"h" is a VERY important letter.....how many times do you use the word "the"... ;) Big ole "h" in it! ...but i agree....see if you can use something else in the meantime....

jodie, there will always be people that can afford a meal that will take advantage of others and eat food that is free.

too many times when i have worked, there is always someone that doesn't help out with money or food contribution and expects to join in.

i can't stand mooches.

::yes:: I agree.... but, i think "mooch" is too kind of a word :rolleyes1

Lori, I am impressed that you had a whole post with no "h" in it at all! :rotfl:

I'm impressed you actually sat there and read thru it to figure that out! :lmao:

we should do a lottery to guess what brab's 10,000 post will be.......

waiting on pins and needles here for it.

POP!!! It's up! ;) http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1710398

Hmmmmmm, wonder what Barb's 10K post will be too.

I am betting that she announces that she's told HH to take this job and shove it and she's moving her family to FL where she is going to work lost and found with Bev as her mentor .... just a guess.

:lmao: Ahhh....I wish  But, yes, Bev is my mentor and I'd love to work with her :rolleyes1 (hey Bev, can ya hook me up?) :confused3

i was going to say be a bartender at margarittaville but jodie has that job sewn up..........

:thumbsup2

Ya know....speaking of.....we need to leave messages in the ladies room there for each other.... Pick a colored marker and we'll write and leave messages for the DIS homies ;) Everyone uses black, we need to come up with a bold blue or something different that will stand out :scratchin

I don't eat cheese on burgers, but I DO love the quesadillas...does that count?? :confused3 So, if my job with Bev and/or Mville falls thru, I can work with you guys at HRH or RPR ;) ....OR I could head up PBH...then, we'd have all the resorts 'taken care of' for the homies :rolleyes1

got word shortly before the game began that DH's uncle had passed on:sad1: . He was @ least 90, still it's always a shock.

DHs family is from the south, relocated to arlington after the Civil War. Uncle Da (named for president of confederacy Jefferson Davis was a great guy; genteel eccentric-always quick with a joke/kind word to all-he will be missed).

 are you kidding me?? I am sorry to hear that.... 90 is a pretty good life tho.... and what is up with SIL? smack her. She has issues with her own MOM, and now this....she is a few sandwiches short of a picnic that one is :sad2: I hate to bother with family that are selfish like that :headache: ...oh yeah, that's right, I DON'T!

At one office where I used to work, if I ever had anything in my kitchen that I didn't want to eat (or didn't need to eat), I would take it and dump it in the break room. Didn't matter what it was, it was gone before lunchtime.

:lmao: That's the guys DH works with....just before Thanksgiving, all uneaten Halloween candy goes to "Dad's work"....don't matter how old or what it is....gone in an hour or less  human trash disposal :rolleyes1

Looks like it's time to take the sheets off the furniture in the 'summer home' :guilty: Somebody call the movers ...Penny? Don't worry Tricia...they won't let us get lost :rolleyes1

OK, just a heads up. This thread will be locked tonight so if someone can find the other thread you started or start a new thread to continue, that would be great. Whenever a thread gets to 250 pages it will be locked and a new thread would need to start. I posted an explanation thread on the board.

Thanks for the heads up :thumbsup2 We're en route to the summer home...do you have a more precise time of "tonight"?

phamton - I needed some ice, pressed the button and none came out! ;)

By the way will you be able to join Barb & & I (and possibly Lawrence) for a dinner in July?

Yeah phamton....i pressed too...no ice? :confused3

i think it's broked :(

Lori, don't forget Robert (rpbert1) will be there then also ;) (i know he don't post much here anymore, but i will be hooking up with him and his family ;) ) ....and don't forget Todd....depending when/where, he might attend also :goodvibes

Having Barb start the new thread for her 10,000 post would be cool. I wonder if she'll get the message in time?

:sad2: didn't.... but, we already have a home :confused3 If you need me to know something asap, email or PM me.... ;)

Carol is doing well. She is healing and still has bad days, but she is doing pretty good.

That is good to hear :goodvibes Surgery was definately a good decision then.... Hopefully a bit of relief in sight (not so much an ending, cuz i think it's an ongoing thing, but a 'break' of sorts)..... Am I to assume our boy is doing just as well too??

For right now she is doing better and went to work today and all she said was bothering her was her back and she has gotten back her appitite cause she wanted some taco bell before she went to work :lmao: so I think it may have been some kinda virus and hope she is over it and I keep my fingers crossed on that.

Glad to hear she is feeling better....definately good news :goodvibes Tell her to get all of 'being sick' out of her system before June ;)

Okay...so you might be wondering what happened at work today :rolleyes1

:lmao:

Loooong story short: I got a job yesterday (start next Monday) and HH fired me today. I'm okay with it, I expected it and I can sleep at night with a clear conscience knowing that I did the right thing and absolutely nothing wrong :goodvibes

My only regret is I won't be able to file unemployment and make the f**kers pay :headache:

So, easy week for brabs.....

Break out the bubbly.... I wuz fired!!!!
